"The apartments were roomy, nice, and convenient. The staff was very nice. They had a nice dining room, and the residents were very friendly. They had activities, but not as many as the others. They had a hair salon, washers and dryers on each floor, and excellent security."

"Harmony on the Peninsula was a beautiful place. My husband and I looked at their assisted living and the rooms were nice. The staff seemed nice, and the place looked impeccably clean. They have a big common area, there are craft rooms, and lots of activities, too. The dining was nice. It was a big open space and they have dining after-hours where you can order something. It's just expensive, probably the most expensive of the places we have visited. As we walked around, the staff were very friendly, greeted us, and said hi to us. The person who was showing us around was a little snooty. We were like, "This is very expensive so we're not sure" and she said, "Well, not everybody can afford to come here". Maybe she was just trying to be realistic with us because we had given her our financial information."

"I toured Commonwealth Senior Living at Churchland House. The staff was very friendly. The facilities were a little more used and not quite as nice as the other place, but they were clean. The seniors that were sitting there did not look as happy as the ones at the other place, but everyone looked healthy. The room was absolutely gorgeous and it would have been very good for my friend, but I prefer the other one. They had a craft area and a garden where people could go sit. I didn't see where they ate their food at that time because it was still earlier into COVID, so they were still eating in their rooms. They had me sign in, they had taken my temperature, and they're all spaced. Commonwealth was really, really nice, but they did not accept Medicaid."

"First Choice Assisted Living II was a nice place. It's clean. The staff was friendly. I felt comfortable there. The room was nice. They showed me a studio room. They have everything that we were looking for. We're looking for 24-hour care and meal preparations. The staff was very friendly, very knowledgeable and willing to help."

"I frequently go into Dominion Village, to visit loved ones and my friends loved ones. the building itself is an older building as it's been here for as long as I can remember. But the care that the staff there provides is unlike anything I have ever seen elsewhere. From top to bottom all the staff care about all the residents and the residents families. It is family. I've had family and friends both as a resident there and it truly does turn into home. Its hard to leave your home to move into an assisted living, but somehow the staff at dominion village make it easier but helping you and your family adjust to your new home "

"I really like The Hamilton at The York. They have very nice rooms. I like the size of the rooms. I also like the fact that they have the availability because it is still new. We are going back to see the place, and I'm taking my parents with me. The staff is very friendly and very nice. I saw the residents doing some exercise in their chairs and that's all about what I saw. There's not very many people there."

"It was very, very nice. I had no complaints at all. They provide lots of things that elderly people need. It's open, they have a beautiful courtyard in the center where people can go out or sit at their windows and doors and watch birds. "The service at Indian River Residential Care Community is wonderful because this is a facility that all the people there are all in auxiliary grant, which mean that they are not a rich facility and I don't know if they have patients with private pay. There are a lot of things that they do not have. But for people like my son who cannot go even for one month on a private pay and can no longer live on his own, I thank God there is a facility like this. There is no choice menu, but that's alright. These people are happy that somebody is cooking for them. If they don't like what the dinner is, they can always have a sandwich. They don't have a lot of activities and that's very disappointing because I think old people need activities. But for activities, you need money. These are not well read people, so I think a library will be wasted. However, if a van can take them to a dollar store or Walmart once every other week, that will be wonderful. They will have something to look forward to, but they don't have that. There are some downfalls and yet for people who have nowhere else to go, thank God the place is there. I will rate the manager of that facility absolutely the highest mark plus double it. She is a wonder on this earth and all the people in that facilityand these are her words are her children. She is a wonderful human being. She is very good. She does what she has to do. She has taken a person out of there because he is a danger to others. She gives him a number of chances but it comes to a point that she can't keep him there any longer. Nothing is perfect and I am not saying that this place is perfect. Not all people are as nice or understanding or as kind as she. But ultimately she is in charge and she listen when you talk to her. She asks how we are doing and is everything is okay. She speaks with us and gives us a beautiful greeting when we come in. She runs the place beautifully. It is the love of her life and it shows. The people who are there are on auxiliary grant and these are the people who are not well-off at all. They haven't any abundance of anything in life and some of them like my son are mentally ill and other problems. So, they can't go out and earn hundreds of thousands of dollars a year so they can go to a private pay. This is a special place for special people. If somebody doesn't have enough money and can get an auxiliary, there is not that many places around to choose from. "
