"The rooms at Landings of Sidney were very well laid out. Depending on what you want size-wise they have that available, depending on the amount of money you have per month. We like the idea that it's basically a month by month with a 30-day notice. So if something happens, we can move my mother-in-law out of there. We didn’t have to go into a long-term contract. My mother-in-law has adapted very well there, and she's enjoying it. The staff has been very helpful to her. As far as the little bit of entertainment she's been to, it seems to be going well. She's talked about a movie night that they had, and for Thanksgiving they had a meal that was set up special. They did a very good job. The building is pretty nice, and the value in terms of the price is the same as everybody else."

"My Dad chose to live at the BRC for the last 18 months of his life. He lived in an apartment and need no special assistance, He found a new lease on life. He made dozens of friends, He found ways to serve others, and this brought him great joy. He felt needed and valued -- because he was needed and valued. He had the freedom to come and go as he pleased. The facility is clean, attractive, vibrant, and caring. The individual staff members know the individuals in the community and are aware of their needs and abilities. I will always be grateful that Dad had this excellent environment to make the last months of his life so happy, meaningful, and safe. "

"I went to Heritage Independent Apartments Union City. The rooms look nice and big, and they have their own showers. They got two different parts of it. They got the regular living part and a memory ward, which is what my mom would need, and I really like that about it. So, if it all works out, I would be happy about it. So, I was happy with the visit. The staff was nice. She seemed to care. She said that they were going to do what they could to try to get her to be able to deal with what she makes. They have a calendar hanging in the hallway that's got different activities for every day. And they have church on Sundays. This seemed to be a pretty nice place. The person who accommodated us on the tour was really nice. She seemed to really work with me, tried to answer everything I asked, and asked me if I had questions quite a few different times. So, she's really good."

"What a wonderful place, my mother was there for two years. The staff was great and they seems to care. Brookhaven will always be a special place to me. "

"I have lived here in in Richmond for probably 60 years, and I've always known about Friends Fellowship Community. I know a lot of people that have selected it. It's highly recommended here in town. Anyone that's gone there, they have a nice facility, and a lot of amenities, like if you need transportation they have that. Just about anything you could want there, they're there. It's a good size. I know several people that are there, so I just decided that that was probably what I would do. I didn't really meet very many of the staff, it's simply the lady that was doing the tour and showing it to me, but she was very pleasant. They have a very good selection of things that they furnished. It's convenient to get to. It's right off the Chester Boulevard and there's bus service, although they provide service, but it's just very convenient."

"Garbry Ridge would have been my first choice because of the villas, the price range, and their ability to take care of me with Medicaid (if I ever become in need of Medicaid). The villas were sort of set up like duplexes. The dining room was very nice. Only if desired to go to the dining room, you're certainly able to participate in the meals, and the price was very low. They had it in two sections so that perhaps you would be more in a cozy setting. It was bright and clean. The utilities and cable are included in the villa."

"I found Cypress Pointe Health campus for my mom. They were very well-organized, very knowledgeable, and very well kept. The room was small, but that’s all it needs to be. It was nice, with nice furniture, and the bathroom was close. The staff, Iris, was very knowledgeable, very good, and kept calling me, and inviting me to things. It was very nice. They had a chef on staff, who could make special things for my mother if she wants them."

"My mom has dementia and she loves it there. She loves the freedom and not feeling like she is locked in a nursing home. She can come and go when she wants, but it is also nice to know that she isn't alone if she does ever need help. They cook and clean for her and even do her laundry. She can go downstairs and get her hair done in the salon and even go out with her friends on outings every week. This may not be a 5 star resort, but it sure beats the competition in the area. The people are friendly and the employees seem caring of the residents. It just seems like a higher standard is held there then the other places we visited. Food was ok. Room sizes were reasonable. Shopping trips every week. Activities so far have included fishing, orchard, parades, art and crafts, cooking, dancing, birthday celebrations, live music/performers and more. They offer rep payee and personal banking options as well."

"Forest Park Health Campus was very nice and clean. The lady was very helpful and informative. She invited us to come and eat lunch with them and showed us the room. The food and the menus that they gave out were very good. The problem was that they did not take Medicaid. They keep them very busy, which is good. If Mom needed help, they said that they would have plenty of people working who could assist her."

"My mother is at Vancrest Health Care Center. I'm not crazy about it, but she chose to go there because her old friends are there. The facility seems understaffed. The food is not good, and that's a complaint she has had since day one. Her apartment is quite nice, and the wing that she's on is fairly new. Some staff members are quite nice, but I'm not overly impressed, and it costs more. The assisted living side is nice, and the apartments are nice. It's kept clean and it's fine. It's okay. "

"My brother-in-law stayed at The Greenbriar in Eaton. He ran out of Medicare money so he's at home now trying to take care of himself. I was not there and there wasn't anybody in the building. There is a COVID shutdown and it's got everybody in prison, but all reports indicate that the staffing was great and food was adequate. He had physical problem so he wasn't getting any activities there. His room was nice and comfortable and he stayed there. He didn't get out. I saw the facility from the outside and it was great. They have landscaping, trees, and flowers. My brother-in-law's case was different, he had a physical ailment that didn't allow him to get up and do anything or participate in anything, so he wouldn't be able to take advantage of any amenities, be it a walking path, exercise machine, bingo, none of those because he couldn't walk."

"I have a close relative who was recently moved into an assisted living facility. The idea of moving into a facility scared her a little but she knew, as did her family that it was the right thing. Being an 92 year old widow, living at home alone, is a scary thought. Most people have negative reactions and reviews to nursing homes these days and for my relative she was uneasy about moving away from home. Several months later she could not be happier! She meets new people everyday, plays cards with friends, enjoys sitting outside on nice days, welcoming grandchildren and friends who come to visit and most of all the assurance of knowing somebody is always there to assist. While at the age of 92, things can get hard for someone, but they never want to feel helpless. Assisted living facilities allow residents to have as little to as much freedom as they need. Briarwood Village in Coldwater, Ohio is a great example of a close-knit assisted living facility where both workers and residents bare smiling faces. "
