"I cannot say enough about the amazing care Viviane, her family, and caregiver provided my dad. My dad absolutely loved Viviane and being at Destiny Home; he called it home. The environment, meals, cleanliness, love, and attention provided was more than I could have expected. Viviane was my dad’s guardian angel!! Thank you Viviane!"

"It was very nice. It didn’t have separate living places, but it was quite nice. One of the things that I really liked was that they didn’t have a pre-arranged meal time, so you can eat any time you want to. They served three meals a day. The staff was very informative and very friendly. They showed me a one-bedroom apartment and a room in the memory care center. You just sign up and they will provide you a shuttle to your doctors' appointments. They had an exercise area, a crafts room, and a beauty salon. They had a separate kitchen if you wanted to make something on your own. "

"My sister is in Park Senior Villas - Goodyear. It's a small, secure community with nice landscaping. She has a spacious room, but it's not very well lit. The air-conditioner/heater unit is controlled by a remote control, and that is probably not the best idea to have in a memory care unit. As you can imagine, the remote control goes missing quite often. The staff is wonderful. She really likes it there, and she gets along well with the caregivers. They're very attentive, kind, and patient. The dining area is nice and small. There are only eight or nine residents in each house. I've been there at mealtime and it looked pleasant. They're terribly overpriced, though."

"Legacy House of Avondale was very clean. It looked like they had the staffing needed to provide care for my sister. They are very helpful with their whole program of what they do inside that care. The other people that were there seemed clean and amicable. I really considered taking my sister there. The rooms were very clean and roomy. There was a TV in each one of the rooms. My sister would have been in a shared room, which looked very accommodating. They had a large kitchen and a seated dining table that was like a big family room. There were two or three people watching TV. There was a patio in the backyard, but nobody was out there. They answered all my questions and my concerns."

"Liberty Assisted Living Home was a beautiful house, clean, and smelled good. The staff during the tour was very sweet and very helpful. She was the owner of the home, so I was impressed by that. She took the time to meet me, and she was very knowledgeable. When I did ask her something about Medicare, she didn't know, but she texted me the name of somebody familiar with those types of questions. Even on the items that she didn't know, she made an effort to direct me to someone that would know, so I liked that. The dining area looked nice. I didn't dive into the activities a lot, but when I was there, it looks like most of the residents were in the living room area watching TV. They said they take them out on the back porch and enjoy the weather. I liked it."

"My father is in Hacienda Del Rey. What I like best is the homey feel of it, the way the casitas are set up, the way that there is a large porch walkway area, and it's roomy. The staff has been wonderful. I've gotten a hold of people when I needed to speak with them. They have been helpful. They have contacted me with information, concerns, or questions. It's like working with a team, and I am involved in that team. It's not just them and then me and then him. We're all working together to support my father in his care, and it's been amazing. The communication is just next level. I have not tasted their food yet, but it looked and smelled amazing. It is cleaner than my apartment. It's very bright, very nice, and very open. It's got high vaulted ceilings, so you don't feel closed in. It doesn't feel like it's a locked facility, even though they do have the alarms on the doors because it is memory care, and the residents have a tendency to walk and wander and things of that nature. It's very inviting, and everything is so nice. It's not mismatched or kind of off. The residents sit at an actual dinner table to have their lunches, breakfast, and dinner. It feels like home. It is incredible. I know that they have been looking for specific activities for him based on his background as an auto technician. I know they had puzzles and a separate room with a TV and books, like a nook library and things like that. They said they do karaoke, dance, bingo, and a couple of other things in the main community. I'm not entirely certain what they're going to have for the memory care area at this moment."

"I went to Kingswood Place. I liked that the setup was one level, they had a lot of outdoor space and it was nice and wide open inside. It was very clean. They were very personable. I met some of the residents there. They were very nice. I just like the overall feel there. They have other care as well. And I asked about that because assisted living and skilled nursing are completely different in different states. So they offer other things there as well. They offer a lot more care if needed, than just assisted living. They have a plethora of skilled nursing things that you may need, they do offer it. So if you have a parent or someone, a family member, that needs to be catheterized the whole time they have the skilled employees there. They have the nurses, they can cover that. So that's not an issue with them. If they can't walk, they have people who can help them get up. They have wheelchairs and motorized scooters available there. My mother specifically right now, uses a Hoyer system. They do have the portable Hoyer there, and they train their people in using the Hoyer system, which is nice. Their facility is a little dated, but it's not rundown. They have a little movie room where they do popcorn and they have movie nights. They have a music night where they have a guy there who's like the longest-running deejay in the state of Arizona. He lives there. So he comes out and deejays there. They also have bingo. They have little groups that get together, like if the women want to crochet together, things like that, they do all that. So some people will sit there and play cards, or sit out and they'll do puzzles together. So they do have that. It's not a huge facility, which is great, but it gives enough to where it's easier to find people in case they go roaming off and they get lost somewhere because they can't. But it has a lot of nice outdoor green spaces. They have little birdhouses and bird feeders, so they can watch, you know, the birds outside if they want to sit outside, or they also have the capability to barbecue outside. So, yeah, I like that about it too. They have an open area, a little family seating area, or if you want something more private, they have a private family room."

"The staff was extremely caring and helpful as to explaining the care they would provide as well as touring the neighborhood to show my grandmother the activities that were available in the community. This included the senior citizen center, which we were told sponsored bingo day and arts and crafts days where my grandmother would be allowed to mingle and relieve her of boredom, especially because she was unfamiliar with this specific area (She lived in East Valley originally). They also provided menu's as to what they would be serving for the month as well as daily activities they had within the facility, specifically the finer arts like crocheting and knitting, which I was sure she will enjoy. The neighborhood is a little on the "iffy" side but the price of the facility ($1900) more than made up for those issues, as the east valley where she wanted to be was a much more expensive option that wasn't feasible. This facility was the best choice I ever made. Overall, I'm impressed with the facility and if I were to be forced to board her up again in a facility, I'd definitely choose Angel's Castle Care. "

"I liked MorningStar Senior Living at Golden Ridge. That was honestly the one that I would have preferred to have my dad at, but my stepmother lives in Gilbert, and she wanted my dad closer to her. They did independent all the way through memory care, but I was looking at memory care. They did exercise and arts and crafts, they said they had music come in once a week, and they had "no cooking" cooking class. They had a very big foyer, a big dining area, and an outdoor area that was enclosed for memory care, so they could still go out, but it was still secured. The staff members were all really friendly. What I liked about that place was its philosophy was mingling the different levels of care. In a lot of places I went to, the memory care people just stay in that one unit and they couldn't go anywhere else. Whereas at MorningStar, they mix them, so all of the activities there were for independent living all the way through memory care. There was a lot more interaction happening. They were telling how the independent people living there would help the people in memory care do whatever the activity is. This is all that they told me. My dad did not end up going there, so I don't know how it played out in real life, but I liked that idea, especially with my dad. He's just barely at the start of memory care need. I liked the idea of him getting to be more socially interactive with others because that would help him with his cognition, just having that socialization happening. I like that the activities they plan were for everybody and they would take the people from memory care out, so they weren't just always locked away. I also like that if my stepmom had chosen to, she could stay with him in the memory care area, but still be independent. She could come and go as she wanted because in most of the places if they were in memory care, they couldn't have someone living with them. I liked that they could have stayed together at that place. They were the only place that I went to that had those options."
