If my mother is going to Madison, she would be in Heritage Assisted Living & Memory Care. This is literally the best assisted living facility I found, of all of them. It has very comfortable settings and all sorts of activities, like arts and crafts. They do all your laundry, but if you're in assisted living and it's something you really want to do, they will let you do your own. They come in and give you three meals a day and do housekeeping. They were also more homey. When you go into the assisted living area, there's a desk there on one end, and you can see everything in the whole hallway, which has books, tables, and a TV. It's just like a big den. They have assisted living and memory care, and both areas were very good as far as the hominess and very comfortable settings. They were having lunch that day, and the person serving wasn't even like a cafeteria person because there was a nurse in there with them. They say that they hire more nurses to care for people. Instead of just LPNs, they get more RNs. I think this was the most comfortable and happiest place I went to. I was completely impressed with this place. It was also not a huge unit. I also saw their food, and it looked really good.

My mom moved into Heritage Assisted Living & Memory Care. They are wonderful, very helpful, coordinated everything with us, and went out of their way to make her feel welcome. They bought her a special candy bar that she likes, bought her flowers, and put her name on the door, and welcome signs. All the ladies are very caring, and I'm very happy with them. I was there yesterday and they made us orange cream milkshakes in the middle of the afternoon. They were awesome. One afternoon she was there having lunch, and she had a huge slice of ham with some beans, fried green tomatoes, and chocolate pudding that looked delicious. I could have eaten it myself. They're nice, and if she wants something special that she likes, they go out of their way to try to get what she wants and make sure she's taken care of. What they did just before she moved in, they painted the whole room. They put in all new flooring. It's a nice size. Even she commented on how big the room was. She was quite happy. She was a little nervous about stepping down from a two-bedroom apartment, but this is more than she needs, so she's pretty content. She went to bingo the second day she was there. She won four times, and she's pretty tickled. We compared prices in other places, and theirs is probably one of the best.

I saw no hesitation at Heritage Assisted Living & Memory Care as far as cleanliness of the facility, the layout of the facility, the friendliness of the staff, and everything. They were very informative and helpful. The lady said they offer physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. So, they have different activities and things to keep the residents busy. They also have an outside area.
