I hired a caregiver to take my spouse who has dementia to the swimming pools for two hours twice a week, and swim with him in the various pools.. I selected the time of 5-7 p.m., this being part of the sundowning period. When he could not go into the pools because of an open wound on his knee (that occured at a different time), I told the caregiver if she could come up with other activities to get him out of the house, she could still keep the job. She did!..taking him to a few parks, a walking trail, a nature site, etc. He loved it!
