We stopped in to see the Hillcrest Homes assisted living facility while in the area looking for places for our aunt to live. We could see that it is a nice community with a home-style atmosphere and that the residents there are content and well cared for. The ample backyard area featured many places for the seniors to enjoy themselves safely. There was also had plenty of park-like space with tranquil, large trees and nicely manicured lawns. As we walked through the building, the fresh flowers smelled good and accented the design nicely. Every room seemed easy to navigate with nice views and lots of fresh air and light in a calming décor. The food looked and smelled delicious, and was healthily prepared. The menus included a nice variety of dishes, in addition to American standards. They offer snacks regularly throughout the day and whenever desired. The dining areas were spacious with a lovely and comfortable decor in a casual or formal restaurant setting. The foods looked and smelled appetizing, as did the snacks which are offered frequently throughout the day. The varied menus featured healthy, home-style meal options. The fitness equipment looked well-maintained. They also offer a variety of exercise class options. Residents can also safely navigate the lovely courtyards and pathways. Private living spaces were all decorated tastefully with a light and airy atmosphere. Each unit also had nice views of the surrounding area. The bathrooms were designed with safety rails and seats. The many activities include a full calendar of interesting events and stimulating ways to exercise like taking nature walks and other tours of the city. The residents regularly have the opportunity to enjoy all that Milwaukee offers in the way of culture, such as fine dining, shopping, art and music. The staff takes very good care of the residents and all looked content in this nicely designed living environment.
