Anyone who wants proof of the existence of angels should visit Highland House. The entire staff treated my mother like a queen during her stay there. These are the most caring human beings I have ever met. We could not have found a better place for my mother to get the care she needed.

Highland House had units for low income people. This place had three different plans. They also offered transit, like bus service to the grocery stores and back. They also had a beautiful lounge right on the premises, and she likes it. It was also right across the street from the hospital. So everything you would be looking for is close and convenient. The staff was very informative and polite. What I really liked about the staff was that she talked to my mom and not to me. When I go looking with an elderly person to these places, they talk to me and ignore her, and she's the one who was going to live there. However, this lady, the first thing she asked my mom was, "What are you looking for?" It just started out really well, and the lady continued to talk to her. I liked that. I thought that was good. My mom was looking for an affordable two-bedroom unit so she could have some room. We saw some of the rooms, and when they had new tenants, they replaced the carpet. So, a new person has a new carpet. Then they paint it and it is very clean. The whole place was very clean and kept up. They have a community room, but they don't offer food service yet, and they said that might be something in the future.

Highland House is small and expertly operated. My husband has a new home and a new family. The activities are stimulating and the staff is incredible...they not only take care of the residents, they love them. The yard is very private and has a walking area as well as places to sit and rest. There are birds and fish inside and outside the well appointed "home." Families and friends are always welcomed in an atmosphere that does not resemble a "facility" but a real home.

We stopped in at the Highland House, located in Watertown, while visiting assisted living facilities for our aunt to live in the area. The outside area was very nicely maintained. The foyer was fresh and bright with very nice decorations and furniture. The facility can accommodate all levels of ambulation. The grounds outside were easy access for residents, where they can enjoy walking around safely. We could see that there is also plenty of space to have picnics and parties. Each room was beautifully decorated and furnished. The colors throughout the building were soothing and comfortable. All of the indoor rooms had plenty of fresh air and light. Community rooms were spacious, with comfortable furniture. The seniors can easily socialize, make crafts, play games, watch TV and films and participate in many stimulating activities. The private rooms all had a great deal of natural light and fresh air with very comfortable furniture. There was plenty of space in nicely decorated surroundings. Aerobics and yoga classes are offered, and they also have DVDs available. The residents go on trips to visit the many eateries, cultural centers and events in the region. The dining areas were all quite nice and spacious. The food we saw looked and smelled delicious. The menus all had healthy food options for all kinds of diets. Snacks are offered regularly and when requested. The residents were well cared for by kind and considerate staff and all looked very happy to live here.
