"We toured Brookdale Sun Prairie. It was a wonderful location, and the staff was very good. It just didn't fit from the medical standpoint. They were very accommodating. The staff was very helpful and very informative. It's an older building, and upgrades would be very much appreciated from that part of it, but other than that it was a clean and friendly place."

"We moved our family member from a large, eye-appealing, highly-talked up assisted living facility only to find that residents were forgotten, not known by staff and not well taken care of. We found Waterford at Hartford, a much smaller assisted living facility that doesn't have the eye appeal. We are so happy we made the move to Waterford at Hartford. What's important is the care the resident gets. Waterford at Hartford has a responsive management team and a staff that knows our family member by name, knows their health needs and most important, takes the time to care for our family member at the level of care she needs. The staff communicates with one another and that makes such a difference in the care rendered. Our family member's mental attitude has increased, giving her a reason to enjoy her daily life all because the staff cares and loves the residents. Again, we are so glad we found Waterford at Hartford. A small town assisted living facility giving loving care."

"We physically toured Talamore Senior Living. The tour was very informative. The manager was very pleasant, and she answered all our questions. We looked at a two-bedroom apartment. They have lots of activities. The nice thing about Talamore is that when you need assisted living, they bring people to your apartment, and you do not need to move out of the apartment that you're in. They just increase the fee to reflect what services you need. It's a nice business model. As for amenities, they have a place for coffee in the morning, a craft room, and raised garden beds outside so you can garden in the summer. They have an activities director. However, it was way out of our budget. They had 10 breakfasts, 10 lunches, and 10 dinners included in the rent per person."

"I toured Oak Hill Terrace Senior Living. The gal who toured me around was wonderful, and the residents were friendly. The facility was very clean, but it was an older facility. The one downside was that the parking for visitors outside was very poor, but otherwise, they had a lot of activities. I was given a calendar with the activities, a menu calendar, a price catalog, and the dimensions of all the rooms. They were beautiful-sized rooms, much bigger than I expected, and nicely set up. However, the bathroom could have been updated in the shower area."

"We toured Oak Park Place Madison. It was good. We saw what we needed to see and answered all our questions. The staff was pleasant and not pushy, showed us everything, and took his time."

"I went to look at the Frontida of Elkhorn. The rooms looked great. They were very spacious and nice. Everything looked clean and well-maintained. The staff member who I met seemed very friendly and helpful. They had a courtyard, a bar area, and a place for social gatherings or casual meetings where you could meet with your family."

"I chose The View at Johnson Creek for my grandfather. The rooms are fairly small, but the bathrooms are very large. It was very clean, very open and spacious. It's all one level, which is nice and it's a big circle so where you start is kind of where you finish at the same time. They had two different wings, one for memory care and one for regular senior citizens. They were all very friendly and kind and answered all of our questions in detail."

"While in the area, we happened upon Twin Rivers Assisted Living. We had been visiting other facilities around the region to consider for our aunt. We were glad that we didn't need an appointment to take a tour. The staff was welcoming and the outside grounds were nicely kept, with plenty of seating areas. Residents were encouraged to walk around regularly as they desire and supervision is always available. The indoors had a nice library area and a large room for other activities, such as board games and other stimulating activities. The facility and staff are equipped to handle our aunt's early Alzheimer's "“ so that was a relief for us. She really enjoys going out "“ and the list of activities included everything from local shopping, beauty salon and entertainment trips "“ to special events held at their facility and others. We liked the exercise room where they had yoga mats and machines. They also have scheduled classes for those who are interested. We happened to be there when they were offering some really good snacks. Despite the fact that the snacks were made to be healthy, they all looked really tasty. The dining room was really lovely "“ as were all the adjacent communal areas. The lunch meal we saw, as well as the menus, looked really appetizing. This facility was really well appointed, designed and had kind and caring staff to assist the residents in having a vibrant life. "

"I went to look at Heritage Homes. The apartments were very nice. It just seemed to have everything that hopefully my mom would want. We only met the lady who toured us. She was very thorough and very accommodating. They have followed up with us to know if there was anything else that they could do. They do not serve food for independent living. They have a kitchen facility if you want to have a gathering or anything like that, but they do not serve meals. In the apartments themselves, they had a washer, dryer, stove, refrigerator, air conditioning, and walk-in bath. The only thing they didn't have was a dishwasher. They have a community room and little rooms here and there with little fireplaces where you can sit and gather. They had a workshop room where you could do crafts and things like that. They had an underground garage. Each room has its own furnace. They had a fitness room and a chapel."

"I went to look at Wellington Meadows. I found the room to be okay. But I was a little concerned about the fact that they didn't have a regular cook, and they had no housekeeper. I wasn't comfortable with the way things were set up. I thought it was an older facility. The staff members were understanding. I saw somebody playing with a toy, and she was fascinated with the toy. They didn't have an activity director at the time, so that concerns me a little bit. The staff came forth with a lot of good information and everything. The facility seemed unkept."

"My brother moved into Reena Senior Living a couple of weeks ago. It is a very nice place. The apartment is very nice, spacious, and well-equipped. The staff is very helpful, very informative, and very nice. The residents seemed to be very welcoming. I saw the calendar of activities and it looked very nice. They have a nice activity room and it has a large screen TV. They also have a piano. In comparison with the other ones, they are reasonably priced."

"Deciding on a new home for our Mother was a very tough decision. Sienna Crest really made us feel welcome and made our decision much easier. It was comforting to see how much the Manager and her staff loved Mother. We will always have a special place in our hearts for them. "

"I visited Black Hawk Senior Living for my mother. I personally like it. I thought it had a very homey atmosphere, like it wasn't so sterile looking and had more warmth. The facility used to be a formal hotel, so it had a very nice dining room. Not all of the rooms were small, but the one that was available was quite small -- adequate but small. The bad part is that the location is right downtown. Also, they need to have better communication. When you're looking for a room for your parents, talking about the financial aspects of the tenants there should be done in a private office, not for everybody to hear everything. I didn't care for that at all. The staff was pleasant, though. "
