Overall, I think this facility is a good place for veterans that need nursing care. My grandfather has late stage Alzheimer's and can no longer care for himself. The staff is excellent at providing comfort and care for their residents. My only complaint is that I have found soiled clothing wrapped in a bag in my grandfather's room. They have expert staff assigned to each patient such as a dietitian, specific nurses, etc. They have a large, open facility which creates a pleasant atmosphere. The staff is very nice to visiting family members, etc. A meal can always be requested so I can eat with my grandfather if I choose. The staff is very good at providing custom care for each patient based on individual needs. Several events are hosted every year for the residents/families to enjoy. These include parties, cookouts, holiday meals, and so on. This home is rather expensive but provides great care by a loving staff. It is important to me that staff take measures to ensure the safety and comfort of their patients, which it seems like they do very well.

I'm in Veterans Home at Union Grove. They have a guard on during the day and night, and while you're sleeping, they have someone that monitors throughout the building, so they know about movement and people coming and going. If you're a visitor, you have to sign in at the front desk. They feed you lunch and dinner. Lunch is at 12:00. Dinner is at 5:00. No. Alcohol. No drugs. They have washers and dryers that we can use independently. They have places to rest. If you wanted to go outside and sit on a bench or something like that, they have enclosed areas that are fenced off for people to come and go within the system. They're protected. You're constantly protected here. They have counselors. They take you to Wal-Mart. We get a ride from here out to the VA in Milwaukee on National Avenue. They have art classes, anger management, and all kinds of different classes that you can get into here. The staff members are young. They're changing the guard lately and they don't hold on to managers. They have security people that go around. It needs to be polished up a little bit. For lunch, we have sausages, hamburgers, pasta dishes and such. I made a complaint that we need to balance that out. They need a nutritionist. These people need certain nutrients in their bodies. I have never been homeless before and when I came here, I got to see how the homeless are being treated.
