I visited my aunt at The Oasis at Pearland. It is a very good family-oriented community. The staff is very caring and loving. They engage with different residents, specifically my aunt, who may have challenges because she is a stroke survivor. Even through her challenges and difficulties, they have been able to care for her in a way that's specific to her needs. The occupational and physical therapists that she engages with are also very awesome and attentive. We have seen great progress in the mobility of her right side, which is 100% paralyzed as a result of the stroke. Also, the speech therapists have done a phenomenal job. My aunt could not speak after having a tracheotomy and a feeding tube, but she is now able to make three sentences, so there has been great progress. Overall, The Oasis at Pearland has been a true Godsend for our family, and we're very pleased with the facility as a whole. The food is tasty and well prepared, too. There are some general maintenance things that need to take place as far as the building is concerned, bringing it up to a more modern style. It is an older facility, so that's understandable, but there are some things on the inside, as far as painting and even with decor, that they need to have an overall general cleaning of the facility, so that they can get rid of that odor that they have. Activities are fine. They have a full calendar every day with special activities for them to engage in a wide variety. There are those who come in from the community, as well as on the religious aspect of things, and tapping into the residents in the various denominations that they may have. So, they do an amazing job when it comes to the layout of the activities for them.

My mother is in here. I like that she will be able to stay there once she no longer has savings and has to go on Medicaid. They have activities, church services, singing, bingo, movies, some physical therapy, and trips. What stood out was the special attention that she gets there. The staff come and get her to take her to meals. Sometimes they will help her style her hair. They have staff that will bring her meals if she wants some in her room. They make a special effort to see that she has some social life.

It was a pretty nice place. The main reason we chose it was because it was the closest to our houses, so it's easy to visit my grandmother. She got Alzheimer's, and they recently got memory care. That option opened up for us, so we took it. There's a lot of good stuff there. All of the people who live there can interact and do things together. She is supposed to move in by the end of the month.
