I was looking for a personable facility for my aunt with an environment that offered the comfort of home and intimacy. I was truly impressed with the staff, environment, and services offered. My aunt can maintain some level of independence but also have the support needed in those areas where additional help is indicated.

My daughters and I volunteered at Nixon. We observed that they treated the clients like family. They took their time when feeding the clients and helping them over to the living room. They had young adults and seniors who got along well. I was happy I shared this experience with my daughters.

We visited Nixon Assisted Living of Houston facility while researching places for our aunt to live. The outside area and grounds was very nicely maintained. The interior foyer looked inviting, bright and cheery, with very nice furniture and beautiful decor. We could see that this facility can also accommodate all levels of ambulation. The outside offered easy access for seniors, where enjoy walking about with limited supervision. It also had plenty of space for cookouts, picnics and other parties. The communal rooms were light with plenty of fresh air. All of the rooms were decorated beautifully and had comfortable furnishings. The color scheme throughout was comforting and soothing, but not boring. Activity rooms featured lots of space to stretch out and enjoy a variety of activities, from socializing, to playing games, reading, watching TV and seeing films. Residents are also invited to tend the garden. Residents may use the exercise room, go on daily walks in the lovely courtyard and take classes to get plenty of exercise. Aerobics and yoga is offered daily. They also had DVDs available. The residents are taken to visit many Houston hotspots, art galleries, music venues and museums. They also get treated to the many casual and fine restaurant options as well as cultural events regularly. The private rooms were spacious in very beautifully decorated surroundings. All spaces had ample natural light with fresh air and very comfortable, high-end furniture. The dining rooms were spacious and had an upscale restaurant vibe. The food tried smelled great and was delicious. The menus feature healthy foods for every type of diet. They also serve plenty of healthy snacks throughout the day evening, and whenever requested. The residents all looked very happy in this kind and caring living environment. We were very impressed with the considerate and competent staff.
