Mom was at Harbor View Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. The facility looked pretty good. I was pretty pleased. The only problem I had was that it seemed as though some of the residents wandered around kind of idly. It seemed like they were allowed to venture into the guest area and not so much into the common areas. The dining area could be a little bit more maintained. Lots of residents ate in their rooms. So, the dining area wasn't always in use, but it was available and just wasn't always maintained well. The outside area was very well-kept. The nursing staff was good. The CNAs were good, but they were understaffed. They offered several things. They got daily activities and church services, and they went outside and participated in what they call happy hours, which was a simulated after-work type of thing, but no alcohol. They had things that were planned and they kept a very detailed monthly calendar so that you'll know what's going to happen daily.

Because of their screwup, my 89-year-old mother, with dementia, spent the entire 20 days of her rehab confined to her room. Everyone on staff that we asked told us that a 14-day isolation for COVID was policy. It wasn't. They screwed up, didn't call to get my mother's COVID shot records and acted as though she was unvaccinated. So, instead of going to their rehab facility after a hospital stay, she was locked in her room alone. I was hot and they knew it. We probably owed them money, but they were afraid to send us a bill. I didn't even check her out. We just left. Also, they were woefully understaffed, with one nurse for a fairly large facility. Patients don't get their night-meds until very late in the evening. I don't recommend this place at all.

My mom is at Harbor View Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. It is like 5 minutes from my condo. It's very close to me, so I can visit her every day. However, I would give them a good B minus because they have staffing issue. Everybody is having problems with staffing. I like the individual care that she's getting. One of her assistants is very good. For me and my family, I like it because of the location. She said food is OK. They have activities. She has only been there for three days, so we haven't checked that out. There are activities. They have exercises. They take them out. They have cocktail hour. They have private dining rooms if you want to have a private dinner with family and bring your own stuff. They have an outdoor area. It's spotlessly clean. There's a salon, a gym, a place to watch movies, a nice big dining room, and a private dining room (if you want to use just that). It's extremely expensive out of pocket.

First of all, as someone who works in Hospitality and fully understands the very real issues stemming from lack of reliable help as we dig out of this awful Pandemic, I know the impact is far reaching across all areas where actual humans are required. My mother has been in this place for a few weeks. We are hoping and praying she can become stronger as to have her able to return to her lovely assisted living apartment. We will know very soon as to our next move. The CNA ladies are just as lovely as can be and very over worked. Upper mgmt. is another story. Can't get call backs even within 72 hours. The place needs a complete overhaul.

No professionalism at all. Not enough staff. Residents have to wait 2-3 hours before someone responds to call light. No one wants to help when needed. Residents cannot get changed in a timely manner have to wait several hours to be changed. I was wet for 12 hours before someone changed me. Nursing staff just shoves medicine in your face to take and gone about their business. Nursing staff have no compassion for patients don't check vitals, they have no concern for patients well being. Once they give you your medicine you don't see them again they don't check to see if you're ok. Can't get no response from admin staff Can't speak with anyone in charge. No communication from case manager or social worker. This facility is just out to fill beds for the money!!! I do not recommend!!! I wish I could give negative stars!

Loved ones will not be taken care of properly here. The staff tell you its the next shifts job here. The nurses will tell you to go find a CNA if your Family member needs something. Food is horrible. There is one on staff who will actually take the time to listen to your loved one. Its not worth the heartache to even check this place out. There are mice. Food is always cold. The staff eat better then the residents.

I had a relative at Harborview- the place is beautiful on the inside. The service is terrible. They are not staff proper. The Nursing Supv/manager will not return phone calls. I even tried to call the admission office. no one return my phone call. i notice some of the staff sitting around -- the residents calling for help no one seems to be answering the call light. It was really terrible. I am in the process of moving my relative. How can the community offer any amenities as to its locate. Everyone that work at Harborview needs to be fired.

Visited my grandmother yesterday, and I was really amazed of the friendly and courteous environment. The place seem to be in order and you saw more staff than usual. Then I overheard other residents talking and found out that state was paying them a visit. Should have known something because this place is unorganized and ghetto, and I wish the family would send her somewhere else. I give the State 5 stars for coming, but once they leave its back to a 0 star facility if you ask me. Please never bring your loved ones here.

Harbor view is a lovely facility. Unfortunately the beautiful furnishings can't make up for the disengaged administration and apathetic, unprofessional staff.

Came to this facility to visit my aunt for Christmas and the place smelled of urine and feces. When asked why does it smell like that a CNA replied that they did not have anyone working in laundry, and that they were using sheets to clean the people up. Another worker I believe to be a nurse said that they never have supplies and she doesn't understand why the place is still open. Still working with my family to have our loved removed was my New Years Resolution. I will not recommend this place to anyone.

Harbor View is only 4-5 years old. The building is very clean and you don't smell any odors. They have all private rooms so your loved one doesn't have a roommate... so there is no fussing over the t.v. or temp. The nursing staff is great. They have came long way and really take care of any issues me or my sister might have. The Administrator has an open door policy and is aware of what is going on with the families and residents. My mother loves the food and I even eat at Harbor View from time to time. I recommend this facility and it has a great atmosphere.

My family member has been a resident at Harbor View for several years now. The cleanliness of the facility when compared to other nursing homes in the Memphis area is above average. The establishment is generally kept free of overpowering, unpleasant odors. Harbor View is only 5 years old, so the building and its equipment are still in good shape for the most part. However, there is only ONE maintenance man, Mr. Jim, for the entire place! He works until 3:30pm M-F, and it is not possible to get anything done maintenance-wise outside of those hours. A request as simple as asking for new batteries for the television remote is met with "Only Mr. Jim has those, and he is not here now." Understandably, he can only accomplish so much by himself when he is there. The nursing staff-to-patient ratio is also woefully inadequate. The "charge nurses" on each hall are LPNs. The only RNs routinely present are the director of nursing and the assistant director of nursing (and that is only M-F day shift). The director of nursing, Ms. Collins, is the most apathetic, unmotivated employee in the establishment. She consistently gives you the impression you are bothering her with any issue you bring to her attention. Over the years, I have discerned that she simply wants to remain uninvolved with the patient's and/or family member's concerns so that she has no culpability. Her attitude inevitably influences the attitude of most of her subordinates. The food provided to residents is not appetizing. For example, a cold, hard grilled cheese sandwich served with a tiny bowl of room temperature soup was the dinner I witnessed most recently. Of course, you are welcome to bring your loved one food from the outside at any time. The property has no outdoor courtyard or garden area for residents to sit and enjoy flowers, birds, and trees. They simply line wheelchairs outside the main entrance. At any given time during the day, you will find inhabitants lined up outside the front door staring at the parking lot. The home is located in a run-down portion of Memphis, so beyond the parking lot is frankly a depressing view. Other area nursing homes have large indoor aviaries and aquariums to entertain the elderly residents, but Harbor View offers none. Harbor View has a lot of potential that is simply not being met. So very sad. Bottom line: Your family member will be okay here as long as you constantly stay on top of his or her care, visiting often and at different times of the day and different days of the week. Be prepared to be a bulldog when it comes to advocating for your family member.

Harbor view has a very nice structure . It's near the river so it has potential. Potential unrealized. There are 3 major problems at harbor view , the management , the staffing and the cleanliness. There isn't enough staff to serve the patients and managing heads and nurses don't care I've seen them all sitting while patient lights are glaring and ringing in mass. The same people that clean rooms and patients serve and often don't change gloves or wash their hands. This has to be poor training. The director is often out or "unavailable " I rarely see any therapy. I would not recommend this place to anyone who is actually Iill or injured and can't do for themselves. Potential failed.

Harbor View is horrible. They really are just not taking care of her like they should. When she calls for assistance, they don't come. She can't move or do anything. Everybody is giving different information about the room accommodations. No one is on the same page regarding the rules and regulations of the facility. The food is not very appetizing. She doesn't have a whole lot of food choices. She actually lost weight there because she is not eating the food. It's just their inconsistency, and they act like they don't care. It's their way or no way. They don't try to make concessions. It's their responsibility to have the appropriate staff to do what they need to do for her. She doesn't get a lot of her care because the staff has a lot of patients to take care of. It's not her responsibility. It's not like you are doing it out of the goodness of your heart. She is paying for this care, and they are not giving her the care that she should get.

The nursing home was in good condition from the looks and cleanliness of it. I think the atmosphere of the building was great as well. It accommodated for, of course, the residents of the home, but as well for the visitors. There was enjoyment for visitors while they were there, as well as refreshments. The employers were bright and wore smiles every time they would greet you and the residents. I was treated with much respect and my family members were also. We were allowed to interact with our family members who were residents the way we pleased. Another good thing about the facility that I saw as a problem at other facilities was that the residents had nice quality beds and equipment in their rooms. My visit at a nursing home in another city was not as pleasant and didn't have the equipment safe for residents that live there. If you were in the same town and had to make the decision to let a relative move into a facility, I would recommend this one. If you aren't sure, you should visit the facility that your considering at least 3 times before making the decision.
