Incredibly rude receptionist - Called in to speak with a specific individual. Receptionist stated the individual would not be in until Monday (I called on a Friday morning.) I offered to leave my name and number or send an email, she thought it would be cute to hang up on me. If this is how staff treats people just calling in for information, how do you think they take care of the residents? If you value your family, do not look into this place.

Ascension Living Valley Residence (formerly Alexian Brothers Tennessee Memory Care) is for more advanced memory care. You're not allowed out. All the doors leading to the very front of the premises can only be opened by having a card or hitting a thing with the card because of the condition of the patients there. They would not be able to go in the front of the property or move out onto the road at all. There are much more restrictions there. The staff we spoke to was extremely aware of everything they were doing. I saw them answer without hesitation. They were very good and made a lot of sense of what was allowed and wasn't allowed inside. One thing that impressed me was when you get behind all these closed doors, there were very few patients wandering or getting lost because it was like a circle or a horseshoe that you could only go one way. You just come down a long path and then you have to turn right one way and then turn right to come back up. I thought that must be less confusing for any patient in there who is further advanced with their memory problem. These are the things I noticed, and I thought that was very important because there's nothing worse than people with dementia getting lost. I just thought that was a very good plan, the way that was laid out. Inside it was very clean and very nice but they had stacks of stuff that had been delivered and it was sitting on the front porch. We had to kind of maneuver around it.

Alexian Brothers was extraordinarily nice, clean and spacious. I would be proud to be a resident there. The rooms were very nice, clean, and liveable. They have activities like cards, dancing, and Bingo. The staff was not very nice to me, though. I told them beforehand that I had a blur in my background. They did a background check on me even when they said they did not, asked for a deposit of $1,000, but did not return it.

After hearing sometimes negative reviews of assisted living and elderly care facilities, I was quite surprised after visiting a very good friend of mines grandmother at Alexian. The facility is very nice and clean, staff goes out of their way to do what they can for its residence, as well as visitors. Their are all kinds of daily activities that the residence can participate in and they have much more freedom to move about as they please and have some what independence. I definitely recommend this facility for anyone who wants their loved one taken care of.
