Assisted Living Communities in East Ridge, TN

"I went here. They had a circular floor plan with a courtyard in the middle. Some of the room configurations were weird. We looked at a one-bedroom, which had a separate living space. The separate living room area was very small and it didn't have a window by where it was placed, so it seemed very dark. That's the only one we saw that was like that. The others weren't like that. We looked at both studios and one-bedrooms. Mom ran into a friend of hers and we ended up sitting in that lady's apartment talking for a long time after the tour. Nothing stood out in particular and Mom wasn't as drawn to here as she was to the other place and so I just sort of dismissed it in my mind. The staff was very nice. They had some kind of activity that we watched for a minute that was kind of fun. They had lined up the seniors across from each other in chairs. They were sword fighting with plastic pool noodles swinging them around in the air."

"I toured Thrive at Brow Wood. The staff was helpful. She took us on a tour and told us the different things that they do. They have a Wii and my brother used to bowl. They had a Wii with a bowling app so that he could sit in his wheelchair and act like he was bowling. The facilities were great. The layout was good. They had a lady there who helped them paint and showed them how to paint pictures. The activities director was nice. While we were there, we got to watch him. They were dancing. They were doing karaoke. That was delightful."

"I was at Signal Mountain Senior Living yesterday to see my sister. The meals are fantastic. They provide three meals a day. The staff members all seem to be very kind to my sister. The food is delicious. Once in a while, there will be a little something that my sister doesn't care for, but they always have options. She can get a chicken salad or something like that. The cleanliness is great. They are under construction, though. They're doing a lot of remodeling, and that's the only downfall to the place right now. Nevertheless, the activities are great. My sister has done bingo and chair exercises. They offer a lot of different things, and they go on outings. It's great. When I stepped into the community, I felt the friendliness of the place. And the rooms are great, too."

"We liked the location of StoryPoint Chattanooga and the longevity of their staff. They had some activities and we saw where their dining area was. They also had a patio area. It was an older place, but there were probably some things that they could do to make it a little more homey in the memory care area. One of the hospitals is within five minutes from that facility, and then probably five minutes the opposite direction are a few fast food restaurants."

"My grandmother stayed at Pleasant Valley. She loved everything about the home, especially the outdoor area and the caring staff. It felt like home to her. I would highly recommend this home. "

"What I like about my tour here was their willingness to help me in any way they can. They showed me the whole thing, but we found that my husband needed a memory care unit. The room looked very clean, very nice, had no odor or no smell, and it was perfect. The staff who gave me the tour was very helpful and was full of information. She leaned over backward to do anything she could do, and she set up interviews with different people in there that we needed to talk to. She just went way beyond what I think she's supposed to do, and I couldn't thank her more for what she did. She was very good. Everything was very clean."

"I liked East Ridge Retirement Center because of their amenities. To me, the place is very nice. The people are nice and the lady who showed me around was very nice. "

"The staff has a very personal, caring approach to the residents. Personal concerns and needs were met with prompt compassionate attention. The facilkty is beautifully kept and decorated like a very nice hotel. The gym and therapy staff are top notch! I had a very positive experience."

"My mom is staying at the Senior Saints Home. I loved everything about it. The only reason we started looking was that they had been up on the price, and that's just a burden on the family because it's more than her check. It's a beautiful home. It's just like everybody's family. They have shared rooms. It looks like a bedroom. It's got two beds, and it's very nicely done. And then they have a single room. They also have a room with two double beds for a couple or something. I would recommend them. It's very nice. It's the greatest home setting you'll ever find. The staff are very caring and loving. I actually have no complaints whatsoever. The food looks like a good nutritional meal. My mom builds puzzles on the coffee table. She's got her traveling books and stuff. They can do what they want to do, but as far as coming together as a group and playing bingo or exercising, they don't really offer that."

"My parents moved to Rockbridge Oaks. They serve a certain menu every day, but if you don't like it, you can choose from other things, and everything I've tasted there has been excellent. The rooms are nice. They were freshly painted and have a nice kitchenette area with a medium-sized refrigerator. The air conditioning units are high, like above the windows, so they're not blocking the walls. It's got a nice big bathroom with a shower. Everything is nice about the room. The staff had been great. Everyone's been very pleasant. They have in-house activities like bingo, trivia, name that song, art things, and trips to a restaurant, a grocery store, or different places. My parents have not participated in any of that yet because they are just getting adjusted. The value for the money is pretty average from the various facilities I visited. It's maybe a little cheaper than some."

"For the second time in nine months I was a short-term resident while my spouse was undergoing eye surgery and recovery and restricted in her activity. Having spent six weeks at Rosewood last spring, when the need for short-term assisted living, there was no question that I would return for the second time which only required three weeks. My experience again was excellent. Staff personnel are caring people who go above and beyond to assist in every possible way; Caregivers and dining room servers are cheerful, and quick to see that the resident's needs and desires are quickly and uncomplainably met. Rooms are spotlessly clean and odor free; Food is more than adequate, tasty and nutritious as well as menu choices are available. Cost is reasonable when compared to room prices at better than average hotels, considering that the resident care services provided are without extra cost and the facility is above average quality. Transportation service is provided on a pre-arranged reservation basis. There is no question in my mind: Should I need assisted living care at any time in the future, I shall re-return to Rosewood, my home away from homed."

"When my relative first moved into Parkwood Retirement, the lady went on vacation and took the keys to her room, but other than that, it's good so far. We like that it's a small and quaint place, and that there's not a whole lot of people there. They keep the grounds and grass really nice. The residents are offered the opportunity to have a little area where they can plant flowers and stuff like that. They have activities like music, cards, Bingo, they take them shopping, or wherever they want to go, they also have a beauty shop, and they clean the rooms. If I eat there, I have to pay $3 or $4. The staff seems very nice and they hang up all her pictures, the cleaning lady really helps out, and the residents are also nice. They keep the inside and outside of the place nice and clean. It could use some upgrading, but for an old person, maybe it's just fine. There's also not a lot of parking spaces and it could get very crowded sometimes. The value for the money is good because I went to another place and it was was more expensive, but wasn't as nice as Parkwood."

"The Canopy at Boynton Ridge was a very nice place. They were very nice, and I was impressed with them. It seemed to be clean and neat. They seemed to be caring. The patients seemed to be involved and happy. The rooms were very nice, very clean, and nice size. I went into the dining area, and it looked good. The food looked good that day. Everybody seemed to be eating."

"Hickory Valley was okay and it was fine. We went there during their lunchtime and what they did during their lunchtime is, instead of people going up to get their food, they were bringing their food to them, which was fine, except that they were bringing them in carryout containers. I did not like that part. The place is independent and assisted living combined. I like the courtyard that they have there but their furnishings were a little dark. I think that if they had been brighter, it would be nice but everything seemed to be very dark. We went during lunch and it didn't seem very bright. That part I did not like. They had community washers and dryers but I am not into that and would just prefer having it where I can just go and wash whenever I want it. It was also somewhere you had to kind of get around for that. They had a place where they had some available extra fitness equipment. Some dressers were out and visible as people were walking by. They weren't like in an activity room or isolated in any way. They did not have drawer knobs on it so I thought that was quite odd. The location is within 10 minutes of being downtown. It wasn't that far. It was also near a mall."
