Southern Oaks Assisted Living is a beautiful place. My mom has a private room so that much is good. Everybody we've met there so far is very nice. I haven't had any negative responses yet. Supposedly, they have a Bible study, bingo, and morning exercise class for their activities. Once the Covid ban is lifted, they would have singers come in to sing and stuff like that too. I think they also have a movie night. They have a big courtyard with tables and swings, which is pretty outside. They have a big living room area, but I don't believe they have any type of library or anything. The community is very well maintained, it's a beautiful place. She said the coffee was good, she also had breakfast this morning and said it was good.

My tour of Southern Oaks Assisted Living was great. However, I don't know whether it would be a fit for my husband. I think the people living there are a little older than my husband. My husband likes it, so that's the only thing. I want to get a sense of how he would mix with them. My husband blends in well and he thought it was fine. The price is a little cheaper. The dining area was fine. It had a feeling of home. The staff who gave the tour was great. She explained everything well. She told us about all the activities they do and things of that nature.

Southern Oaks Assisted Living was spotless. The residents we encountered seemed to be happy and well cared for. The staff seemed attentive. It was a very nice facility. My only real complaint was the distance from where we live, which would make it a little harder for us to check up on our folks. I didn't see anything that concerned me. They had a courtyard, a library, a TV room, and a game room with some games and puzzles.

I was greeted by a very enthusiastic staff member who was obviously sold on the facility. She gave me a tour past the dining room where folks were eating. The food smelled good. The sample room she showed me was a nice size. The courtyard was a definite plus! Activities include music ( a choir), reading (small developing library), puzzles, daily exercises, games, etc. The price point was very fair and was all inclusive. There was a very welcoming spirit and I would definitely consider this option for my parent when needed.

Southern Oaks Assisted Living was very small and homey. But it seemed older and kind of more rundown. It didn't smell the best, and the floors were sticky, so it wasn't nearly as clean as the other places that I toured. It was not mealtime, so I don't know about the food, but I peeked in the kitchen and wasn't overly impressed with that. It was almost more of a group home feel. It was more affordable than other places, so based on somebody's budget, it might be a great place for them. I had an appointment for a tour and there was nobody there, so they kind of winged it. Somebody that works there showed me around and handed me a folder, so it was not very informative. But I saw what I needed to see very quickly, and I just knew it wasn't the choice for me. The staff seemed to be doing their job but nothing stood out as exceptional.

We visited Southern Oaks Assisted Living in Chattanooga. It's assisted living. It was beautiful and it seemed very clean. They serve the residents 3 meals a day and they seem to have plenty of staff. The lady that gave us the tour was really friendly. It seemed like a great place and the people were very friendly. It had nice furnishings and was beautifully decorated too. It smells very clean and just pretty. We didn't try the food but it smelled good. I know a lot of places with only one main meal a day and then the residents are on their own after that. This place cooks 3 meals a day for the people that live there. Also, there are only like 24 rooms so it's not overrun with people. They don't have too many people there. I saw some women gathered out front when we arrived. They were out there having a Bible study and I imagine that's a regular thing. The residents seem to socialize quite a bit just from what I can tell. I'm sure there are planned activities. I just don't know what they are. The only thing they didn't have that my parents could have used as transportation to doctor's appointments but you go in knowing that they do have access to medical people there. Overall, they had everything that I would look for at a place for them. If my folks would change their mind, I would pick this place for them.

My mom has been in Southern Oaks for three weeks now. It seems like a nice, homey community, and the price is right. They have wonderful food, and the people seem very caring. It is sort of a home environment, and the other residents seem to be happy and at home there. The facilities are all nice. We like it all. They have story time, a beauty shop, and games. They have all kinds of different things. The staff is very friendly and very helpful. The food is great.

My dad has been in Southern Oaks Assisted Living since the 5th of January. He had lots of friends that have lived there before, so he knew the place. It's a small facility, very homey, and there are only 30 residents, so that's nice. It's kind of like an extended family, and there's not too many people. The cook has been there for over 20 years and whenever dad suggests anything, he'll try to make it for him. Tanya has also been there for 25 years. I know the director, Sherry, and she is very helpful. My dad came from another facility and nobody helped us when we moved in or out of there, but at Southern Oaks, they all said, "Hey, what can we do?" They really helped out a lot. The only downside is the rooms are a little too small that he can't control his own temperature, but there are four people in there and somehow it's a little warm that you don't have to wear too many clothes. Their activities include watching movies.

Southern Oaks Assisted Living is very nice. My grandmother has excellent care, gets three meals a day, and there are activities there. It's one of the best senior communities I have ever been in. She would have told me if the food wasn't good because she's very picky. As of right now, everything with the staff has been great. They also keep the residents busy. I chose this place over the others because of the cleanliness and the staff.

Southern Oaks is smaller but awesome. When the owner gives you a price, it's flat, and they did everything for my mother-in-law. Jonna D., the owner, walked us through a lot of things that we want, and if you want A-grade ownership, she's the best. The price was wonderful. The place is very age-appropriate since they have antiques people really like. The caregivers had been there for 20 years and do all of their laundry, medicine, and never call and complain about whatever is going on in your loved one's life. They never make it feel like it's a burden, but instead they make it feel like it's the greatest thing to have them there with them. The food was good, the parties and outings were awesome, and the residents had been there for a long time also.

Southern Oaks Assisted Living was a little place but quaint. The halls were kind of narrow. I didn’t like it that much, but the staff was very nice and informative.

Southern Oaks Assisted Living was a smaller homey-type place. It was very clean, very attractive, and comfortable. The staff was very helpful. They had like a little congregate where people came together. The parking was OK.

Southern Oaks was a smaller community, which is not a problem. One thing I didn't really like is they don't have transportation to doctors' appointments on an ongoing basis. They could arrange special arrangements to go to a doctor's appointment if necessary but that was a drawback. The place was nice and very small and had been established for a number of years. They were also very friendly and very willing to work with us. The price was good and something that we probably could afford. They have activities but I don't think there are many maybe because they're a smaller place. They didn't have fine dining.

I visited Southern Oaks Assisted Living. It was a small, compact community. Everyone is very friendly. The environment is very attractive, and I think they provide a very high level of care. One advantage is that they have a single price that covers everything, so there would not be an increase in expenses. However, I was not looking for assisted living; I was looking for independent.

We like Southern Oaks Assisted Living real well. They have good service. It’s like a big family that lives there because they do care. Everybody is very nice and it’s very clean.
