My husband was a resident at York South for 15 months. He had Dementia and Parkinson's and the staff took great care of him. I had to work diligently with the dietician/food service staff to be sure he got enough food when he started consistently losing weight. That was resolved and he gained his weight back. I visited 6 days a week and got to know the Arcadia staff and residents. This was my husband's new home and I became a part of the family. A few staff members even came to his viewing when he passed away in June. I have gone back a few times to help in the unit and visit with the residents. The staff are caring and will work with you to be sure your loved one settles in and feels at home.

My mom is at Manorcare Nursing Home (Manorcare Health Services). I'm not thrilled with it at all. They didn't even know why my mom was coming there. It was total chaos the first night. The rehab seems to be very good, but the place itself I'm really leery of because you have to ring a bell to get into it. You have to stand out and wait for them to decide to buzz you in, so that I don't care for. There was something there that you could key in, but they don't use it anymore. The staff members that I have dealt with so far are good. However, I waited four hours to see the supervisor that was supposed to come and check my mom out the first night. The girls who work there are very good. I think they're extremely short-handed. I think there is one girl to 11 patients. They really don't use the dining area; they feed the people in their room. The food is not very good now. The girls seem to be overwhelmed because there's not enough help, but the rehab department I must say is definitely very good.

My mom is in Manor Care. They work for our needs. She has full care. The room is very nice and very adequate. They offer different types of activities to help them. It is a nursing home or a rehabilitation center. The food is very good.
