Ten years ago, this coming June, we started the discussion with our mother regarding living in an independent living facility. Our father had been dead for years by now. They had been married 54 years. We searched for facilities and my mom had heard about one or two. So, we went to visit them. None were appealing to her. Mom was going to Drake’s gym and one day decided to go check out Bridgeway Point (they are connected). They were having a tea party that day and invited Mom to attend. She did, and the next call we got was “I’ve found a place.” The rest is history. We were blessed that mom found her own facility this way. She moved in on the third floor in June. Kris, Lynn, Bill, and Kyle made my mother’s transition so easy. The facility has always been supportive in our ups and downs. The transition in the past ten years for mom and our family has been difficult sometimes, but Bridgeway Pointe staff made the transition smooth. The facility is very client oriented. There are always activities according to the client’s activity level, and the facility has great food with rooms to entertain family members. Overall, the facility is very warm and welcoming.

The tour I had with Bridgeway Pointe was great. They had a room that was already furnished to show us what it could look like. Then we looked at several vacant ones. I went back the second time with my mom to be evaluated by the health people and we saw two rooms. Neither one that I liked. There was one room that was not ready yet to be looked at and I'm hoping that's the apartment we can get, but I have to go back over there and look at it to make sure. I wanted a room that was facing the front, not the back. The last room we came by was not ready for us to look at, but it was convenient because the laundry was right on the other side, maybe 10 to 15 steps over to the laundry, and my mom likes to do laundry. I got a packet that had a sample menu. I think we went past one of the areas for religion, an area where they showed us mailboxes, courtyards, and a room for activities. It was smaller overall, campus-wise. So, it's less busy. They don't have a full-size refrigerator, nor stove, and just a microwave.

My Mom left an institution where she was not cared for adequately. Bridge Way was so much better. It had a caring and stable staff. Mom's room was only steps from her dining room. The activities she did manage to attend were welcoming. Even the administrators were caring and responsive whenever we had a problem. My Mom received the care anyone would want for their loved one, even in her final days. I highly recommend this "home away from home."

I had not visited my family member as I live out of town. I was in BWP this past weekend and was amazed. The food was fabulous, the rooms were perfect size for someone with dementia and the staff was welcoming and helpful. They were having an activity when I was there so I snooped around a bit and although the building is older I love the antique, quaint look it provides. It is a peaceful setting. Large activity room, two main dining areas, pool table, library, gym area, sitting areas, large table areas for families to visit outside of room. My grandmother talked on and on about the people and her friends. This was amazing to hear as she was isolated at home and during her life she was a social butterfly. This was so helpful for me in my heart to know my aunts, uncles and mother chose a good place for her. She deserves the best. Thank you to everyone I met, I am sorry I do not remember names but I can fly home and not worry about her as much. (I will still worry always).

Food was great, apts very nice, office staff wonderful. Activities great. Nurses good....the ones I met. Ask your family how it is at night, & on wkends when no Ofc staff around. Do they answer call lights? Do they help people in halls? Do they treat every client in a loving manner? Look for cluster of aides in halls on phones+++ Recorders in rooms would b helpful.

We like Bridgeway Pointe. We like the location, the facilities, and the staff. The one who showed us around, she was in charge of the finances because the director was not able to give us a tour, so another director gave us a tour. She was nice, and she knew about the facility. They have a refrigerator, a microwave, a cooktop, and an oven. They had an outdoor courtyard and a garden area.

My mom lived at Bridgeway Pointe for several years and I still consider it divine intervention that she ended up there. The staff was attentive and caring. She was in a higher level of assisted living so her room was small, but it was all she needed. And it looked out on a beautiful courtyard that she enjoyed watching come alive in the Spring. As a frequent visitor, I got to know the staff and really felt that they loved Mom. I'll always be grateful to the BWP team for being so caring as we navigated her final years.

I love Bridgeway Pointe. It was wonderful. I told Kristy that if that facility was over by me, I would send my mom. It was very clean, and there's not as many residents. I met a couple of the aides and they were very nice too. They're affiliated with UC Health, and I could tell that they're very focused on the medical aspect as well as everything else. They also had an activity room, a chapel, and a workout facility.
