"It is rare to find a long term care facility that has everything you need for your loved one, but Wilkonson's somehow meets your expectations and then some. It did for me anyhow. The moment you walk into this facility, you notice its cleanliness. You do not smell the pungent odor of residents who wear attends and are being ignored, forced to sit in their own urine or feces. Sadly, this is what I encountered in many other long term care nursing facilities in my search to find just the right home for my grandmother. The nursing staff was another point of interest for me. Of course I understand how busy they are, but I wanted a place with a staff that tries their best to care for my grandma the way I would. The staff at Wilkonson's went above and beyond. From a distance I watched as they gave the best of themselves to each and every resident, treating them with the respect and dignity they all deserved. The staff helped place a smile on these people's faces. This is how it should be. I didn't hesitate to make my decision based on this factor alone. If you live in this area, and are forced to place your loved one in a nursing home, I would highly suggest Wilkinson's. Not only is it clean and represent an actual home, they are treated like human beings. "

"A friend of mine told me about Fulton Center. The staff is very nice and very helpful. They are remodeling the whole place. Everything is going to be brand new. They are working on it. It's still a work in progress, but what they have completed is very nice. I don't know about the activities. We've only been there for like two months, and my aunt isn't into activities very much. She is diagnosed as schizophrenic, so she is not very social. The security is very good though. They have an alarm on the wheelchair and her bed if she falls out. The doors are all locked, and you have to buzz to get in. "

"I saw Capstone for my dad. Everybody was very nice and showed me around. The people were eating lunch at that time, and they were taking care of them. The meals were good; the person I visited ate everything, and he's usually very fussy. The nursing staff was very caring, and the rooms and bathroom were nice and clean."

"We've been visiting an aunt for over a year now. The place always looks clean and does not smell, which is better than some places! The staff have always been pleasant and helpful and the general atmosphere cheerful. "

"For the last year our mom has lived in St. Johnsville Nursing Home and has/is receiving excellent care. Mom receives personal, professional loving care from the staff. The family is welcomed; questions and concerns are addressed. The staff has become part of the extended family. Patient rooms and each wing is being painted and renovated. The wing and rooms are clean and bright. The activity center has games, crafts, movies, bowling among other activities. There is a gym, gardens, library, and a large fish tank in the foyer. Residents enjoy the gardens in warm weather. A beauty salon is on site. Residents are outside of their rooms and part of the community during the day. Administration is open to all concerns and works with the family. The family is kept updated on all physical and emotional patient issues. We would recommend this facility. "

"I think this is a good facility, I have moved my mother from numerous other homes looking for better after being discontented and unhappy with other homes. Every issue l have brought up has been addressed. Staffing is comparable to other facilities and I have seen what other facilities are like. The people care about the residents. The facility is big and bright, the rooms are nice. Activities are good. Overall all a good facility, anyone complaining should go try out some others. "

"My MIL has received horrendous "care" at the Ellis Nursing home, severe bedsore requiring specialized wound care, tray left without attempts to feed her, not given medications as ordered by Hospice and the social worker and director of nursing ignore concerns of relatives who visit. I would tell anyone NEVER to place a loved one in this facility. "

"My mom had come out of the Ellis Hospital and had gone over to Sunnyview because she had a hip replacement. She needed physical therapy at that time. We wanted her to have a few more weeks of therapy, but they seemed to be in a hurry to get her out or get her turned over, I don't know. I wished she had stayed there longer because she was making really good progress. She had been there for about a month. Their service was excellent. She was always going on with her physical and occupational therapy. She was always on the move. People were in and out of her room. "

"The weekend and night staff seem to have attitude about how they treat family and residents. The room is a typical nursing home room not at all as indicated on the web site. Physical therapy is only on weekdays. Again not 7 days a week as claimed. I have been rudely treated 3 times with no direct answers to questions. The administration staff act bothered by the fact that you don't agree to everything they want without more information. There was no communication between day & night staff regarding care. My relative is improving slowly, but got no help with therapy for first four days. "

"My husbands grandfather went to this facility. They took good care of him but the food was not the best. He didn't eat that well there. The staff were mostly friendly. I noticed one of them was not very helpful. And a little rude.My husbands grandfather went there because he fell off two steps and hurt part of his body. He needed to go there so he could walk again. He was too injured to walk without a wheel chair. He could not stay at home. Because he needed someone always there to help him. So that is why he had to go here. The staff at The Dutch Manor made sure he was able to walk on his own before he was released back home. He started to like it so much he almost refused to leave. He liked people always being there for him. And I think he was afraid of falling again. But the staff there gave him confidence he could walk and care for himself parts of the day at his home. He does have someone at his home that visits and feeds him. "

"We toured Kingsway Memory Care Center; it was excellent. I have had experience with good people that I know have been there, and that's why I went there. The people are excellent. The tour was great; Everyone that you meet is very sociable, and courteous. They do a lot of activities, and they have a lot of amenities. Security is excellent, they have a limited number of spaces; but the suites, they're very roomy and very nice. The staff is very good, from what I have seen. They also have transportation back and forth to your doctors. They have an emergency right there in the community, on the grounds. It's very well laid out. It's different buildings, but it's a community in itself. When you go into it, it has apartments for adult living and then it goes right down to a nursing home, depending on what stage you are in."

"Schuyler Ridge A Residential HCF is a rehab and a nursing facility. It was a very nice place. We saw the rehab facility. The rooms were nice, but the woman who toured us was not the most outgoing. I wasn't really happy with her. The grounds were nice, everything was nice, but the only thing was the woman wasn't very helpful or very outgoing."

"My husband was at Alpine Rehabilitation & Nursing Center and I liked it very much. They were very good and the staff members were very thoughtful. The rooms were laid out pretty well, but they did not have very many private rooms and most of the rooms were double rooms. They had their own showers and bathrooms, they also had what you call a community shower where the nurses would help the residents out of their rooms to go and take a shower. The quality of the food was good. They had a rehab room where they set them up for exercise, they had a community room where they would sometimes put on a movie for them, and some people would come in to play music for them. So it was set up very nicely. They didn't have enough help at times and some of them were a little bit stressed out. The facilities were very clean and if anything needed to be done, they get it done. In terms of value for money, it might be a little bit high but it's ok."

"Saratoga care is a nursing home inside the Saratoga Hospital. They've done a lot of renovations in the last couple of years. My mom has been in there twice and my dad's been in there many times. When my mom was dying, they sent in candy stripers. They brought a cart to the room filled with tea, coffee, water, and cookies. I'm going to be sending letters to the Director of the hospital to let them know that I couldn't have asked for any better caring people in the world. "

"Teresian House is run by nuns. The only reason we liked it is my husband has two sisters (but they are deceased now) and they were in Teresian House. So from some personal experience, we liked it. It was very nice. Probably in Albany it was one of the best nursing homes. The rooms are OK. They’re small but very nice. There are three floors. On each floor they have two wings. On each wing, there’s a really nice room with a tv and computers if they are able to do that. They can go in to the room and sit and watch tv just so they can get out of their room. They have a chapel there; they can go to church. They play bingo too. The dining area is very nice. The food is pretty good too. They have enough nurses, but they could probably hire more people to take care of their patients. The people there do have to have constant care. They do a really good job, but it’s hard. "

"My mom was in rehab at Wesley Health Care Center because she had a stroke. She was only there for a couple of weeks. They did really well with her. The nurses were so friendly and so willing to tell me how she was doing. My mom also liked it there. We thought the nurses were great and she was really showing improvement; however, she had passed away. I would still recommend this place to others. "

"While leaving a loved one in another's care is never easy, it is a little easier with Daughters of Sarah. After years of at-home care, my grandfather decided that Daughters of Sarah was the place great-grandmother, and she enjoyed the rest of her life there peacefully with loving and supportive staff. Ensuring the safety and well being of your loved ones is always the priority, and our family felt she was in good hands at Daughters of Sarah. She was only there for a short period of time, but I can remember her room being a warm, clean, and welcoming environment. The food wasn't always spectacular, but it seemed to be satisfactory to her. The location couldn't be better so it's great for those with a big family it's close to Albany, Schenectady, and Troy, but the grounds don't have the atmosphere of the city. The facilities and property has been upgraded in recent years so I expect the quality has only improved since then. "
