I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I visited one person at the Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility. It seemed like there were plenty of nurses available at that time. She was well taken care of. It was very clean. I didn't talk to anybody so much. I just went to see my friend, but the staff members seemed very friendly and helpful.

They advertise on their website Alzheimer's ward, and not for profit "Christian" facility. They should probably inform their admittance staff and finance department of these facts. my response comes from the refusal to take my wife who has Alzheimer's as a patient, because of her condition.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My mother has been a resident at Wilkinson for almost a year. It is a difficult decision to make when a relative has reached the point of needing more care than the family can provide and they must leave their home. The staff at Wilkinson was and still is so supportive, caring and professional when dealing with both mom and the family. Even the admission process was made easier by knowledgeable staff who walked us through it all, making it so much less stressful. The peace of mind having mom cared for every minute of the day is life saving. Those who have tried to take care of loved ones while working and having their own families know how overwhelming it is. The guilt from feeling you are failing your parent adds to it. Wilkinson's staff helps you understand that the decision was the right one and when you see the care given it reassures you. We are very happy and mom is cared for by people who are far better trained than we could ever be.

I visited this facility

It is rare to find a long term care facility that has everything you need for your loved one, but Wilkonson's somehow meets your expectations and then some. It did for me anyhow. The moment you walk into this facility, you notice its cleanliness. You do not smell the pungent odor of residents who wear attends and are being ignored, forced to sit in their own urine or feces. Sadly, this is what I encountered in many other long term care nursing facilities in my search to find just the right home for my grandmother. The nursing staff was another point of interest for me. Of course I understand how busy they are, but I wanted a place with a staff that tries their best to care for my grandma the way I would. The staff at Wilkonson's went above and beyond. From a distance I watched as they gave the best of themselves to each and every resident, treating them with the respect and dignity they all deserved. The staff helped place a smile on these people's faces. This is how it should be. I didn't hesitate to make my decision based on this factor alone. If you live in this area, and are forced to place your loved one in a nursing home, I would highly suggest Wilkinson's. Not only is it clean and represent an actual home, they are treated like human beings.
