"Mom is in Tender Care Midland and it is close and convenient from where I work. Most of the care staff is good. Though they are understaffed, they do the best they can for the patients. But they really need more staff for the patient's ratio. Everybody seems to be upbeat. However, I am not 100 percent satisfied with their care because my mom has fallen a couple of times and she claims that she is not able to see the doctor as often as she wants. She said the food is not great. But they are just little things and I think they are okay and I would recommend them to others "

"My grandmother just passed away; she had been living at Colonial Villa about seven years. She and my family loved it there. The staff is incredibly helpful, nice, supportive, etc. And in her final days she was taken care of so beautifully, and with such care and devotion. I’m so grateful to have had caretakers that made this place a real home to her and my family. Highly recommend!"

"My husband is in MidMichigan Stratford Village. This nursing home is part of the MidMichigan Hospital. It is very clean and I have no complaints with it. It is supposedly the best nursing home in the area. It is difficult to find a good place, so he was lucky to get in there. My husband is there because his situation has gone from bad to worse. He is not walking or feeding himself and he has just deteriorated pretty rapidly. However, he is getting good care there and they are definitely going out of their way to meet his needs. He has been there for a little over three weeks now and I think he is in a good place. "

"First thing my husband noticed was the cleanliness of the facility. Staff was was great. My father-in-law was only there for tow and a half months but they celebrated his 100th birthday! So very pleased with his healing and physical and occupational therapy. I will highly recommend them!"

"I brought my mom to Huron Woods, post brain surgery. She was treated with dignity, as a person, with such compassionate loving care by ALL from the admitting person to the administrative director to nursing to maintenance. They spoke to her, thanked her, cleaned her gently, dressed her with love and made her "pretty" . What I noted most of all.... ALL patients were treated with the same compassion and care by ALL the staff. I can't thank them enough. They are a God send. Oh, yes..the facility is beautiful too. But most of all so are the people who work there. "

"My mom was in Caretel Inns of Tri-Cities. The food was outstanding, and their gourmet chef was better than any restaurant in town. Family members that visit got to eat there and it only costs $5. That food would cost $25 in a restaurant. A lot of the patients allow their family members to eat with them, and it's a very positive thing. Her room was nice, it was very bright, very decorated, not as large as the others, but it looked homey, and it looked like they cared about you. They had Bingo, trivia night, a little movie theater, exercises, and they played Euchre. They had tons of stuff to do. They also had a state of the art physical and occupational therapy."

"My mother is in Healthsource-Saginaw, and that's where she is going to be until the end of her life. She has been there since the end of January. We liked it because the staff is friendly. It's a nice place, airy, clean, and well taken care of. The buildings themselves are only seven years old or so. The food is good. She does not complain too much. She has a decent sized room with a chest, drawers, and some of her own things in there. She got a private bathroom and shower, but she needs assistance with that. I've seen other nursing homes, and this is a pretty decent one. "

"I was a recent patient at Bay Shores Care Center. After seeing my room I was amazed on how large it was. I had a private bathroom, and was furnished like it was my bedroom at home. I was welcomed by the staff and they showed genuine care about my injury. All the staff members were kind and reassuring. The Physical and Occupational therapists were excellent. They were kind and challenged me on a daily basis to learn new things so my recovery would be easier. The meals were delicious and they served a nice varity of food. Every day had activities from Polka music to Bingo. I would highly recommed Bay Shores for anyone who would their services weather it for you or a loved one. from room 108 Hazel"

"My mom is at Wellspring Senior Living Campus - Saginaw and I have nothing but positive things to say about them. It is very clean and anything we've asked to have checked for maintenance has been taken care of within 24 hours, which is excellent. People are very friendly when you walk in (they greet you) and they serve good food. It's healthy and it's got a wide variety of things you can have. Plus they have something as their main dish for the day, for breakfast, for lunch, and dinner. They also offer some bingo, cards, sing-alongs, music, and different things. They take the residents out to go shopping and have an occasional lunch at one of the local restaurants. The staff is very friendly and they're very anxious to help you. The residents are always very upbeat as well."

"St. Francis Home is a great facility to go for long term care and rehab. I have had my cousin and friends of my family stay there and a couple of them even stay their last days on earth there. They and their family were very appreciate of St. Francis and expressed gratitude after their or their family members stay. I appreciate how dedicated the nursing staff and management are. Staffing ratios are great. Staff are genuine and really care about the residents. I would highly recommend sending my loved one to this facility."

"The staff at Hoyt in Saginaw was just wonderful in helping with my mom's care. The place was clean and the staff attentive. Kudos to the wonderful doctors and nurses for outstanding care. But who truly went above and beyond is the social Worker - Jen - who took the time to answer my endless questions and arranged all of her discharge care. She helped us in so many ways, she made the whole process go so smoothly. She is truly compassionate about the people she helps, keeping everyone informed, she is never to busy to answer your questions."

"Saginaw Geriatrics Home is a nursing home and assisted living. It was clean and very nice. They had activities and good food and she was there for a certain amount of time. She liked it there but her family took her out of there. The staff was very caring and very helpful and she seemed very content. The rooms are not really big. Their assisted living was quite small for two people. "

"We went straight to the care facility the hospital sent my mother-in-law. She has been in Bay County for about a month, and they are doing a great job. She is in a full care facility. I think they are doing a fine job there. The facility is very nice and clean. You walk in, and there is no odor. She is taken care of very well there. The management appears to be very caring as well. "

"Over all care was very good and nursing staff was very good. However, the social worker was given my new home telephone number and never passed it on to the nursing staff. Eventhough they had my work number and my cell phone number, I was the last family member to know my husband had passed away. Mistakes happen but this was very hurtful to me and his two youngest children as we were the ones who cared for him until he had to go into Schnepps for 24 hour care. "

"My mother was sent to Avista from Covenant Hospital as it was the only place available to take of her and her needs and had a room. I was very skeptical as many people only rate this place by the location. Turns out, I will argue with anyone that ever tells me this place is not a good place to place your family member. How would they know anyway? They've never had anyone here!! My mom had a brain tumor and the beginnings of dementia. The brain doctors were optimistic that the radiation may help shrink the tumor that was so far imbedded that they couldn't take it out and that rehab would help. (turns out God had different plans) That first night when she arrived at Avista, after 10pm, when the ambulance transported her there, I met everyone at that time of night, I was impressed. I visited her 5 days a week. Each day the workers impressed me more and more. The girls at the front desk work their butts off and are SO SO SO friendly and they know each and every patient and know how to communicate with them. There were days I waited for my mom to get ready for a visit so as I waited, the more days I was there, the patients would come up to me in either their wheelchairs or walk up to me to chat. (I took care of her for months at home and it does take about 20 to 30 minutes to even take them to the bathroom!) People are in wheelchairs sometimes by the back corridor wall when you go in but I found out, to them it's like sitting on their porch, getting out of their room, interacting to the best of their ability with others. They would smile and wave at me and some would race up to chat with me. I fell in love with them. (I will truly miss the patients also). I got calls all the time from nurses, CNA's the social worker, the nutritionist and other people I don't know their titles with updates all the time. I mean, I would be going there after I got out of work anyway that day, but they always called with questions or updates. My mom was on a pureed diet and once I ate some of this shredded mexican chicken thing and mashed potato side and it was fabulous! She always had fresh ice water and yogurt, pudding, etc. I seen the menus and dang! It sounded fantastic. I seen some of the patients dishes in the dining room and it looked great. My mother did pass away there as I watched. I got so many calls that morning and went there early that afternoon to be there. A lady that works there in the office that I would talk to about things with my mom, stayed with me for over an hour that afternoon after I was there a couple hours. When my mom was slowly and quietly passing, she asked if I wanted to be alone with her and my insides screamed, "NO! PLEASE STAY", yet I said aloud, "Oh no, that's ok, you can stay". I will be forever grateful for her! I know she has tons of paperwork to do and yet she stayed! Who does that???? Throughout my mothers 2 month stay there I have paid attention to every person there, worker and patient. The patients are happy. The workers CARE! The workers work long long hours and have to go home and handle their own lives and families and possible personal family problems like everyone does, yet not only has every single person that works there that took such incredible care of my mom and all the other patients, they also took care of ME! They cared about me also! The first month my mom was there and she was much more cognitive, I would always ask her how people are treating her. She would go on about how nice everyone is and how they treated her SO good! The afternoon she passed away as I waited for the funeral home person to pick her up, nurses and other people, many people, that cared for her came in the room and gave their condolences and told me stories of how sweet my mom was. In my honest opinion, I think people should visit their loved one more than once a month or one hour every other weekend and truly pay attention to what is going on. The world doesn't revolve around someone's opinion of how old the building is or here-say from people that have never had a loved one ever stay here or people that have only visited once. I was there! I was there all the time! Listen to me! I am impressed with the care, compassion and professionalism I have seen with each and every person that works there. I know they have fun activities that the residents have done. I would look into the rooms of other patients and sit with my mom in her room sometimes and it was always clean. The evening when the funeral lady came to take my mom away, she stayed in the room and we chatted for over a half hour! Dang! When she wheeled my mom out and put her in the vehicle a nurse was leaving her shift. She could have just walked to her car and ignore me and go home to deal with her own life, but she didn't. She stopped as I quietly cried behind her going to my car and asked me if I was the only one? I said, "Yes, I am her only one". She put her arm around me and I tried to thank her for all her hard work and she told me she just got off a 12 hour shift! This is NOT an easy job for everyone that works there! I think that even when no one thought I was watching, I was totally watching everything and I could not and will not find the words to Thank Avista enough for absolutely everything! "

"My dad moved into Gladwin Pines. The staff is wonderful, and they go above and beyond. The meals are good, and they make sure he eats if he wants to. His room is a good size, there's an air conditioner, the bathroom is always clean, and he's got windows and a bird feeder. They have church services, bingo, and they have some kind of activity every day."
