"I was impressed with Blue Ridge Healthcare Birmingham (Fairview Health and Rehab). It was very clean and there was no smell or odor. The staff was very nice, explained things, and was very courteous. She took us to the physical therapy area. Everything was in place. The clients all seemed clean and dressed."

"My mom had been in a hospital and wasn't physically able to come back home and so she went to rehab at Aspire. I thought that place was great and had all kinds of stuff. It was brand new and beautiful. It couldn't get any better. What was really impressive was their rehab facility. They had everything in the world. She was only there about three weeks. It came highly recommended. The staff was great as well."

"My father in law was a resident here in 2003 and passed away there. Since I have kept in contact with their activities director "Denise" and make things for the residents at Christmas. I have been doing this since 2003 and I get more out of them allowing me to do this and the surprise expressions I get from the residents than I do all year long. It is so worth it for them as well as myself. I think Plantation provides excellent care , it's clean and Denise seems to be very involved with their well being and concerned about keeping them entertained. She does a wonderful job as well as the rest of the staff. Recently I noticed it had been painted and looks very nice and happier. The nurses seem to be very patience and kind to the residents. I am very impressed with Denise overall because she really loves her job and wants to make a difference and I believe she does. "

"My mother was in Brookdale University Park Snf. We're still considering her for independent living there. She did a 10-day rehab stay there. The staff and the administration were very thorough, amazing, and very caring. The facilities were very clean and accommodating. They have all the rehab equipment there that she needed. Any time we needed any information or were concerned about anything, that was addressed immediately. I would definitely recommend the facility. We were very hands-on, so either my brother and I, or both, or somebody was there every day. So we saw the time and the attention that they gave to the occupants. We would not hesitate if we needed their service in the future to return there. She was given a private room with her own private bathroom with all the amenities and her closet space for her personal items. There was a safe for her valuables in the room, which we did not use, but it was there if we needed it. The lift chair was there to help assist her with getting up and down. There's our own call button in the bathroom as well as our bedside. The grounds and everything were very aesthetically pleasing. They have bingo, game nights, and music, as far as someone coming in to play the piano. There's an on-site hairstylist. While she was there, I was able to get her personal hairstylist to come in and do her hair. They have an activities committee, and she was allowed to participate in all of the social activities that were present while she was there. The only negative I had about it was the day that we admitted her, when I walked into the front desk, I stood there 15 minutes while the receptionist was doing something on her phone, and an administrator had to come out of her office to acknowledge me before the receptionist even knew I was there. They did address that, and they came back and apologized. There were some other activities that she participated in. I think one was a sing-along during the Christmas holidays. They had a wide array of activities."

"I was sent to HealthSouth Lakeshore Rehab and they were quite good. They have several places where you can enjoy a meal with friends or with other patients. The physical therapists are excellent. The food was good and more than adequate. The room is just basic, a bed and a couple of extra chairs, built in dresser and a closet. It is very well maintained and more than adequate in size. "

"I did not like the Birmingham Nursing and Rehab Center. It has good therapists that I got to work with, and they were very helpful. I was told that I would be able to shower, and that did not happen. They did not let me do that. I had to have a sponge bath everyday for 19 days, and I did not like it. They had a sheet of paper with all the activities planned out for the whole month. They had choirs and bands come in to play for the residents. "

"The rooms at Birmingham Senior Housing & Healthcare were nice. They had 4 different sizes; they had a studio, 1-bedroom, and 2-bedroom. The food was good, and they also had a pharmacy, a regular store, and a place where my mom could shop. She could do things right within the facility without having to go out although they had buses to take them to appointments. There is a doctor there, too. They have a small room for classes like yoga and rooms for her hobbies. They have a lot of classes and crafts. They have movies, cards, and a lot of entertainment. It’s near the hospital and her doctors. "

"I went to the Greenbriar At The Altamont. The people there were friendly. I talked with some of the residents and with the staff. It was pretty good. You can park inside the facility, you go down a walkway and you have a greeting desk to your right, and the elevator to your left. We went up the stairs and she gave me a tour of the facility. The facilities were nice. They have things that they can do, they have exercise, they are allowed to go out, and they have an exercise facility. And I like that the people can sit out. The place has history, it has a lot of history. The room was nice, they had a room that was fixed up, it looked spacious. They have a dresser, a bed, a kitchenette, but I think you have to bring your own furniture in. They had a step-in shower, I liked that it wasn't too high. They had Wi-fi, and closet space."

"The rooms at Cherry Hill were all very pleasant and very well decorated. They do have private as well as shared rooms. The staff were nice and they really have a good rehab. I like the activities that they have for the residents. They were very good. Different churches come in and they also have game days and nights. Some residents also go out for lunch or dinner and shopping. The facility is also very clean. They were also particularly good in working with people with food allergies. "
