We had a great experience at Elsie's Place Family Care Home. My mother was there for five months. She had been at a retirement home that was independent living, and she got to the point where she needed 24-hour nursing. We looked into all the nursing homes, but Elsie's Place was a small care home that cared for five old ladies, with 24-hour coverage that was fantastic service. They're very loving, very thorough, and competent staff. The lady who runs it, Gina, has been doing this for 20 years at least, so she's got a good reputation. We have had several friends from our church who have stayed there, so we have really good feelings about Elsie's Place. One room can be shared, but my mom was in there as a single. I think there are four bedrooms, and one of them is a double. The one-bedrooms are $9,000 a month, all-inclusive, and the shared bedroom is $8,000 a month. There's a nice big porch. It's a big four-bedroom house in a wooded lot. The ladies like to go out onto the deck. It's all friendly for them with their wheelchairs and walkers. It's nice that they can go out and see nature. They have all kinds of things to do inside the house, but it's not a big facility. They have games and activities to help them stay active. It's very much suited for this kind of work. It is a house that's been fitted up with all the things necessary for wheelchair access. I would rate them above the top. I am even inclined to put them on my list of charitable things that we would give to in the future. The staff is very good. The food is adequate. It's not like restaurant-type ordering and service with five meal options, but they had good food. Visually, it's very nice. My mom was able to get Medicaid, and my wife and I were paying her bills every month. We much preferred doing that than sending her to a nursing home, even though that would have been fully paid for by Medicaid. We wanted her to be in Elsie's Place. It's not brand spanking new. You wouldn't put somebody in that place unless they were really old or really needed the help. The most important thing is their care capabilities.
