"The experience has been excellent at Elderwood Village, and they made everything very easy. The atmosphere is good, and the people seem happy. The employees seem happy, helpful, cheerful, upbeat, and conscientious. I know that my parents are happy with the place, but they just would rather be home. I already have recommended the place. "

"We found Tonawanda Manor for my mother. The food is excellent. They probably have too much for them, but at least the food is excellent. Every night, they have some sort of activities, like music and crafts, so they do a lot and they really keep them active. The rooms are very roomy, and they all have windows. They have pull cords in every room, e.g., in the bathroom, the sitting room and the bed area. They have a wonderful staff. The staff has designed what they call emergency pull cords. My mother the other day couldn't get her television on, so she had to pull the cord, and they said, 'Oh that's fine.' I mean it is not an emergency thing, so it works out well. We can actually have the meal with the residents. Also they have activities everyday, sometimes twice a day. They have bingo, board games, cards, crafts, and movies. At least twice a week, they have a group or a single person coming in with some sort of musical instrument. The place is very secure. All the doors are coded to get in and coded to get out. They have plenty of staff. What they could improve on is probably a little better parking lot because the parking lot is very small. "

"Brookdale Kenmore wasn't a bad place. It would have been a pick a little bit later if we had to. We went around to the different areas in the building, which had some nice little sections set up for different things that they do. A lot of the stuff in there wasn't bad as far as that goes. The staff was pretty good and seemed decent as far as what we could see. We were only there for just a quick tour. We had no problems with that place. They had different church services that you could attend. They have a kitchen area which my mother likes. They can participate in cooking a little bit. They had a couple of rooms that you could meet in. They had a TV room with puzzles in it. The setting and the atmosphere were nice, just to relax. It was a little bit older, and there was a little bit of a smell to it, but it wasn't bad. Everything was all right as far as that goes."

"The staff and the personnel at Peregrine Senior Living at Cheektowaga seemed very happy, upbeat, and seemed to enjoy what they were doing. They seemed hopeful and happy. We love that they have a support dog there. They were having a game and one of the staff was having a Family Feud type game for the residents, and they seemed to be enjoying that. So it was nice."

"I toured Elderwood Assisted Living at West Seneca and my experience was wonderful. Everybody was very friendly, and they were very professional, and they answered every question, and I was very pleased. If my parents needed to go somewhere or if they decided they wanted to go see a movie, that would certainly be a strong consideration. Everything was very nice and clean. Everything is built for your care. It didn't smell like someplace you walk into, and it smells terrible, and this did not smell. The cafeteria looks nice, clean, and cheerful. The residents made sure that they stopped me to tell me how much they enjoyed living there, so that says a lot. And the person who took me around was lovely. It is an assisted living facility. It's not anywhere you would want to go to unless you had to. But as far as it goes, it was accessible. The grounds are very nice, and they have a lot of greenery. They have a nice patio, too, and a fishpond. For what it is, you could tell they try to make it nice for the residents and their families."

"The Manor House’s apartment is beautiful. The staff is very friendly and helpful. My mother said the food is very good. There’s all kinds of activities, like visitors who play music, bingo, arts and crafts, and outings, and special parties, like one for Mardi Gras. This place is great. "

"We visited Presbyterian Home. They were very accommodating. We stopped by spur of the moment, and they gave us a tour of the facility. My sister and I visited twice, and we took my mom once. The staff was very nice, and it’s a nice facility but feels a little more institutional and older. It's very spread out because it’s a series of buildings and they try to maintain the old, historic part of Lockport. Living there would involve more mobility, which my mom doesn’t have, so it would have been a chore for her. The residents were very involved in some kind of a variation of bingo and other activities. We also saw them while they were eating. They had very nice living rooms throughout where the residents could gather and watch TV or read. "

"The staff were friendly and professional, and the accommodations were adequate but not luxurious. My great-grandmother was not lucid for most of her duration there, so it was difficult to get feedback from her, but during out visits, the staff were always willing to take time to chat with us, to inform us about how she was doing and feeling. "

"We chose Mount View for my parents because they actually tried to get the residents engaged through mental and physical activities. It seemed to be a better fit. They make them do 4 activities a week, they have club activities where they can make up their own clubs, and they have bucket list activities where the residents dream outside the box and talk about what they wanted to do. They take them on plane rides, boat trips, racing tracks, fishing, and the owner is trying to work something out for two of the residents who wanted to go hunting. They've been there for 2 weeks and the people who work there have been OK so far."

"After my uncle died in 2012, my aunt lived alone for the next 10 years until she was 94. When she started having dementia and needed assisted living, a friend of mine in New York took her around to look at facilities and we chose Wheatfield Commons. I live in California and can not travel do to health issues. The facility is gorgeous. My friends always sent pictures and it looked like a high end elegant hotel. She lived there for 2 years before passing 3 weeks ago. At first she lived in assisted living and had her own room. The administrative staff and the daily staff were always amazing and kept in touch with me, sent pictures and took care of every issue that came up. When the time came for her to move to memory care, I figured my aunt would have a nuclear meltdown but the transition went smoothly, mostly because they know what they’re doing there. I can’t say enough about the activities directors on both the assisted living and memory care side. My aunt thrived learning how to paint, play games, outings and they also had her doing some baking. Also they offered a religious service on Sunday morning that she enjoyed attending. She was more than thrilled to participate in all those activities. And as a strong Sicilian woman, they knew how to redirect and guide her through the days she needed some extra care. I live in California and wasn’t sure how things would work out at first. Being 3,000 miles away, I figured it could be a recipe for disaster if these people weren’t legit, but as the weeks, months and years went by, I knew they cared for her like she was their own grandmother. They called with updates, sent pictures and kept me posted when she wasn’t feeling well. They loved and cared for her. The administrative staff was also amazing. I lost count of how many times I called John, the Director of Sales and Marketing, in the beginning. He always came to the phone and also helped me work out getting help with movers when she moved in, Veteran benefits to help with the cost and other issues I needed help with. He was always so willing to help with anything that came up. I received the same assistance to detail with Christine, the Administrator of the facility. No matter what happened or what I needed, she was there to help and guide me. I have no regrets and highly recommend Wheatfield Commons. This facility was a Godsend to me."

"I visited Bristol Village. It’s an awesome place. There were absolutely tons of folks, e.g., visitors, residents, staff, who approached me and volunteered nothing but positive feedback. It is all a one-floor layout, so it would have been perfect for Mom. They had spacious rooms. Everything was neat and clean with wide hallways. They had very spacious and nice facilities. The staff folks were very accommodating. Everybody was answering great questions. The downside to this community was that they had a waiting list. "

"Garden house is designated memory care on Weinberg campus. It is a locked facility to keep those with dementia and Alzheimer’s who tend to wander, safe. They have a lot of activities and the staff really care. I can sleep well at night knowing my mother is there."
