"I liked Tennyson Court, but they didn't have a resident dog. The plus with the other place was we could walk the resident dog there. It's beautiful. It's lovely. They're rated right up there the same as the other place, but the deciding factor was the dog. They have social events, lovely dinners, and meals. The rooms were bigger. The staff was very accommodating. The eating area was nice, but they wanted the people to socialize within their place whereas in the other place we could sit down and meet with our loved ones. They didn't want outsiders to eat there."

"Heritage Manor of Lockport was very quaint. It's small, and it's comfortable. It very much feels like a home and that you're not in a facility. It doesn't have that coldness. Everything was well maintained, very clean, very welcoming, and very warm. The staff was excellent. They had three meals a day. They had a lot of activities going on. There was bingo night, some karaoke, happy hour, movie night, and cards. The residents were very active in communicating with each other and in the company of each other."

"The place that we toured is very good. If my mom were going to go anywhere, that's where we would go. The place we toured is Elderwood Assisted Living at Cheektowaga. It's very, very nice. The rooms are adequate. It was very clean. The staff members that assisted us were great. We only had one that showed us around, and we got to meet several people on our way when we toured the facility. Everybody was friendly and courteous. It looked like everybody was doing whatever job they were supposed to be doing. The dining area was clean with plenty of tables for everybody. It looked like everybody was socially distanced. So, all the COVID protocols were in place, and we were very happy about that. We actually have previous experience there with my mom's mom 25 years ago, so that's one of the reasons why we went there. We found that their standard now is very similar to their standard 25 years ago, so it's very high."

"My uncle has moved into Peregrine Senior Living at Cheektowaga. He's in memory care. He's having a problem with not having his dog anymore and they have a resident dog, so we can walk the dog when they come in. My cousin has my uncle's dog and when she comes to visit, he can walk his dog outside and inside. They have many activities to stimulate the mind. They have nice meals and concerts. Now I find him humming and singing. It's very nice. I love the pictures of Buffalo. He's from the Niagara Falls area, and they have many pictures of Niagara Falls hanging on the wall and other things that are Buffalo-related. They have a whole wall of Veterans and he's a Veteran. The staff is wonderful. They come in and clean his room every day and the bathroom. They do deep cleaning once a week and they do his laundry and they have nice meals. It's three-hour intervals, like they can have a choice to eat between 7:00 and 10:00, 12:00 and 3:00 and then between 5:00 and 7:00. They had homemade chicken noodle soup for starters. You can have salad with fruit plate and cottage cheese or you can have a hamburger or grilled cheese. They have many different selections each day, but they start you off with homemade soup. It's very nice. He hasn't been to many of the activities, but he's gone to the concerts, and they were nice."

"My grandmother lived in this facility. The staff couldn't have been kinder, both to me and my loved one. The staff in the dining room were always especially nice. they always remembered our names and had a kind word for my relative. The facility itself is just georgeous. my grandmother had the one bedroom apartment with a kitchenette. I thought it was a good size. She never really agreed. it was much smaller than the home she was used to. we very much enjoyed the backyard, just beautiful. I think they could have had more activities or more varied activities. i think the ladies like the excerise and movie night. Although, the West seneca location wasn't much help when my grandmother started forgetting. She wasn't alowed to stay after her dementia increased. The said that the open campus was a risk to her with her forgetting so much. I really wish they had a 'seasons memory care' center at that location. i think having to move only confused her more. i wish they could have done something more. "

"I visited Elder Wood and took care of a lady who lived there for three years. The rooms were new, and everything was very nice. The service was good. However, they were understaffed. The only drawback was that there were only two old elevators from the first floor to the third floor in the old part of the building. I remember very well when one elevator broke down, it took a very long time to get the part for that one elevator, and the facility where the residents ate was on the second floor. So everyone on the first floor had to go up, and the ones on the third floor had to go down, and there was only one elevator to serve all those people. They virtually used their walkers to beat each other to the elevator so they could be first. It was really not good. "

"My father moved into Wheatfield Commons. The place is gorgeous. The personnel are very friendly and helpful. I have no complaints. The food is a hit-and-miss according to my father. Sometimes it's good, and sometimes it's not so good. They have daily activities of all sorts, either painting or bingo. They take them on little trips out to restaurants. The care that they give my father is wonderful. They come in, do the laundry, and clean his room. He's got a little GPS monitor, so they know where he is all the time. His safety is a big concern, so they're very good with that. Before breakfast, lunch, or dinner, they come by the room and tell him that breakfast is ready. If the resident could not get down to the dining room, they would bring it to the room. They ask you how often you'd like to be checked on, like if it's every 1, 2, or 3 hours. So they're always keeping an eye on where you're at and whether you're safe. It's a very nice facility with very caring staff. They respond quickly to any issues or questions you have. I have never had to call twice to get a report on how my father was doing. I was very, very fortunate to find this facility."

"I visited Weinberg Campus and everything was really nice and perfect. The rooms were beautiful, it's just wasn't what we wanted at that time. "

"I am at Weinberg Campus, it’s close by, they have good care, and so far, so good, but the dining room needs some work. They seem to be short-handed more often in the dining room. For the most part it’s OK, but it could be better."

"I visited Oakwood recently and I have to say that I was impressed by the positive changes that have been made there. New owners took it over about a year or two ago and you can tell. I visited when the old owners had it and it was horrible. Now residents look and sound happier. The new owners are putting money into the building by replacing the elevator, polishing the floors, painting, etc. I was told that they have plans to remodel the dining room, activities room and lounges. They are noticable changing out older furniture in the rooms with more modern dressers, nightstands, beds and lamps. The staff is excellent. Three staff members really stood out to me. Amanda, Jeanette and Karen were extremely friendly and helpful. The dining room crew are accommodating and make homemade meals. This place has really turned itself around. If you need a place that takes Medicaid this is one of the few assisted living's that will. Check it out...you'll be pleasantly surprised."

"My mother had rehab at McAuley Residence. They took very good care of her, and there was no problem. They were very attentive to her and checked in on her in her room which she shared with another woman. They door was kept open of course, and there was somebody who was poking their head in there every 15 minutes. The only thing I wished they would have had were bed alarms, but they're not allowed to have those in rehab. They also have a senior care, like a nursing home upstairs, and there they can use the alarm, but in rehab it's considered constraining a patient. However, they would make sure she came out in the dining room for all her meals, and she had physical therapy twice a day. They took excellent care of her. "

"My friend was a resident of Heathwood Assisted Living & Memory Care at Williamsville. It's a very nice place. Everybody was very accommodating and told us where to go and everything. The room she had was very nice, quite big, and had a lot of things in it. People did come in and check on her every little bit while we were there. We did see the dining room, which was very nice, and it seems like a very nice place. I know that they have the beauty salon, and I know that they go outside and all that. I saw the big room where the television was. They have a lot of activities and certain things there. I don't know how much she participated in all that, but I know she got her hair done there. We talked to the people at the front desk. They were very helpful, and the aid, I'm assuming, came into the room just to check on her; we all said hello. The facility is big, and they were doing construction on adding on to it when we were there. It's not small, and it was very clean. Everything was very clean and well-kept. Her room was quite homey. She had a lot of her things in it, so it was very nice. The only institutional part is when they were going to dinner. They all walk along or some of them were sitting in the hall, waiting for dinner by that time."
