Assisted Living Communities in Cheektowaga, NY

"Elderwood Village at Bassett Park was pretty decent. It was a good area to get to. It was kind of out in the country. The person that helped us was fairly new on the job for doing that, but she did well. In one of the units, the bathroom was on one side of the room and it was kind of too far away from the bedroom. The rooms were not set up very well. They had some activities going on at the time."

"When visiting this assisted senior living facility I had an experience in which I suspected to have. It was a home for the elderly that is helpful for independent living, assisted living with nurse care, and also Alzheimer's and Dementia impaired seniors. Their physical therapy program is helpful for residents to try and improve their overall physical health and assisting pain treatment. I see these things as very helpful for the elderly men and women of the facility. I observed the importance of companies such as this one. The staff were helpful while I was there visiting with a friend, I saw that a few individuals enjoyed being of assistance, especially those who could do their own small part to help. I think that small things could have been done to brighten up the building and to make it a little cleaner, inside and outside. I would like to go back again with my friend to visit his family. "

"I toured Elderwood Assisted Living at Tonawanda. It was a nice, clean facility. The upkeep was very well maintained. They have an excellent garden, and outside, you've got a little garden in there and an excellent-looking garden. They have a community outdoor facility. The people seem to be nice. The employees were courteous and kind. Holly, who gave me the tour, was informative and very courteous."

"My father was at Elderwood. He was only there for five days. It was a great place. The care was fine. The nurse was terrific. Their activities were great. He needed dialysis, they took him to that, and he got physical therapy regularly. The food was plain home-cooking, but it was very tasty. We had dinner with my father a few times, and the waitresses were very pleasant. We set his room pretty much to look like he is at home. It had plenty of room too. It had a cable TV and Wifi for his computer. It pretty much had all conveniences. Also, they had a full calendar of activities. There was something going on every hour. "

"Homey place. Smaller with lovely Suites. We picked a beautiful patio suite with a large living room, bedroom, kitchen, walk in closet , larger bathroom that was easily accessible for our mom. The kind staff go above and beyond to cater to our mom. The marketing director met us originally at the hospital. She and the entire management team immediately made us feel comfortable. They prove why they are the best every day. We didn't not realize the difference that choosing an Enhanced Assisted Living community makes. We toured several other communities and ultimately chose Brookdale Niagara Campus as mom can live here much longer and hopefully forever. Thank you for getting us to such a great place caring.com. "

"We chose Elderwood (Elderwood at Wheatfield) because it has the exercise equipment to give my wife the proper exercise that she needs in long-term care, and it's close to home. The rooms are great, the community is fantastic, and the family can visit her almost every day. It is well set up. I need some help getting her in there, though, since there is a severe waiting list. It may take a couple of years."

"Heritage Manor of Lockport was very quaint. It's small, and it's comfortable. It very much feels like a home and that you're not in a facility. It doesn't have that coldness. Everything was well maintained, very clean, very welcoming, and very warm. The staff was excellent. They had three meals a day. They had a lot of activities going on. There was bingo night, some karaoke, happy hour, movie night, and cards. The residents were very active in communicating with each other and in the company of each other."

"The professional team at WNY Hospice was very caring and compassionate to my mother during the last year of her life. They always made sure she was comfortable and took extra time to chat with here and our family. If there was ever a concern, they were anxious to hear about it and made every effort to provide whatever was needed. "

"I visited my grandmother for two weeks in this complex. The complex itself is very beautiful. The grass is well kept and the dumpsters are contained in little houses so it looks very nice. The complex has the usual woes of any apartment complex: the windows are drafty, the appliances outdated, the HVAC needs to be cleaned, etc. There is, however, one HUGE complaint: my grandmother lives UPstairs. Who puts senior citizens in upstairs apartments? There are twenty five steep stairs leading to the second floor of her building that she must climb with groceries and trash. "

"I drop in unannounced 3-4 times a week. Staff always very friendly and my relative loves the food there. There is a variety of activities for residents to participate in. Rooms are neat and clean with a slip up once in a while but nothing horrible. Attempts to keep odor free are successful about 75 percent of the time but considering what the facility is, I find this to be an impossibility to accomplish 100 percent of the time. The med staff is right on the ball with the med distribution, so no complaints there. Everyone has been helpful and there are some employees who have been exceptional. Not sure of what the future will be for my family member, but if he remains there for the rest of his life, I will be happy because that means his health has stabilized and I am very satisfied with the Glenwell facility."

"I went to Eden Heights of West Seneca. The layout was nice. It's all on one floor. I like the width of the hallways and the upkeep. It's older, but they are updating at this time, and it's nice. The staff was outgoing and friendly. The rooms were exactly what you need and I like that the shower was a zero-boundary entrance. They offer activities, but I didn't look into that. They have a game room and an ice cream parlor. They have a walking trail and a middle courtyard area. The only thing why I didn't pick them is they contract out to do diabetic management, so the nursing staff is not able to test your sugar and they're not able to provide insulin."

"This facility is very well staffed and organized. The home is kept very clean and the residents are well cared for. All families and friends are welcome and tons of food, desserts and drinks are served. We all play games and have a blast every year! The grounds are very well maintained and the staff plant flowers and keep the home looking nice. The workers all pull together and run the facility very smoothly. The residents make little crafts for everyone to take home with them and they have a great time! "

"My son is at Symphony Manor and some things are happening that are objectionable, and they have a large turnover of staff. They don't have any medical people there at all. It's a very old building, but the interior is very clean and well taken care of. They have one maintenance staff member, and they haven't fixed my son's dresser yet. The staff is very friendly. My son seems to like the dining room and he says the food is good."

"Fredonia Place of Williamsville showed me both their assisted living and memory care. It was very clean and very up-to-date. I came in at 3 in the afternoon, so the residents had just finished the activity in one room. The staff was very friendly and nice. The rooms were very clean, very nice, very well maintained, and very pleasant. They had a library, a beautiful yard, gardening, and stuff. It's a very well taken care of place."
