Elderwood Assisted Living at Hamburg was very nice. It's a very clean establishment. We really appreciated going through that one. We didn't get to see one of the apartments because they were all full, but we saw the dining room and the kitchen where you can have a party if you want it with your own family. The dining room was gorgeous. It was very, very clean. Immaculate, I would say. And the people seemed very, very, pleased with the variety of food because they can order off a menu at lunchtime. All seemed very pleased with that idea. It was a very nice experience. They have studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments. We saw the floorplans for them, too. They're very efficiently laid out so that you don't have a lot of wasted space. It's really nice. The staff member who gave the tour was very pleasant. And as far as going over everything, they were excellent. They answered all our questions, and they didn't hedge around anything. To me, it's in a congested place, but you don't have any problem getting in and out of there. And there's parking for people that still have their cars. It's not crowded. They have a beautiful patio that's all enclosed, where you can sit out and enjoy, and you don't hear a lot of traffic noise. That's what surprised me being right in the village like that, that there was not a lot of traffic noise.

My mom moved to Elderwood Assisted Living at Hamburg. The staff is fantastic. My mom is very happy with this staff. My mom is somewhat happy with the food, but she is a fussy eater. They have something going on all the time. They do like bingo, card games, crafts, they go on outings, trips, and community dinners. At this point, my mom has not participated in anything yet. For the value, it's very expensive. They have a very small refrigerator and a microwave. They have an option of turning her stove on or not when she has not put her stove on. She doesn't want to cook, but she could if she wanted to.

I went to the Elderwood Assisted Living at Hamburg last week. None of the residents were smiling. The place was clean, the facility was nice, but it just felt a little sad. The staff was very nice, she was very helpful, gave me all the information I wanted, showed me everything possible, and took me to every floor. The room was nice, nothing special. The room she showed me was a room that they were in the process of cleaning after someone left, so it wasn't in pristine condition, but I understood that. The food looked nice. The menu looked fine. I didn't get to sample any food. The dining area seemed nice. It was in the middle of the village. There was no green space around it. If you wanted to sit outside, you were sitting in the parking lot.

Elderwood Assisted Living at Hamburg was nice. Everybody that we talked to was very helpful. I have friends there. The rooms were very good and absolutely clean. They have a whole calendar of activities on and off the premises. The dining area was clean, bright, and very nice. They've got everything there. The building was very nice, and there's garden around it, but there's not much outside area.

Elderwood Assisted Living at Hamburg is very nice and seemed very clean. Everyone seemed friendly. They have a library and a number of community areas with big screen TVs. There was a family dining room, an activities room, and an outdoor patio that actually faced one of the village streets so folks could see activities going on in the village.

Elderwood Village at Hamburg was convenient because it was close to everybody's location. It was very clean and nice, and everybody was professional. The staff was excellent, very knowledgeable, very helpful, and had all the answers for all the questions that we asked. The dining hall was beautiful. I looked at the calendar of activities, and they definitely had a lot of things going on every day. They do day trips and have exactly what we needed for my mother.

My father was at Elderwood. He was only there for five days. It was a great place. The care was fine. The nurse was terrific. Their activities were great. He needed dialysis, they took him to that, and he got physical therapy regularly. The food was plain home-cooking, but it was very tasty. We had dinner with my father a few times, and the waitresses were very pleasant. We set his room pretty much to look like he is at home. It had plenty of room too. It had a cable TV and Wifi for his computer. It pretty much had all conveniences. Also, they had a full calendar of activities. There was something going on every hour.

Mom will be moving in to Elderwood next. We chose this facility because it was all inclusive as far as meals and so on and so forth. It was very clean with no smells. It had a very nice staff, and it was affordable. If she should need to go into a nursing home later on, they take care of all that. It is one block from my house. My mother loved the Victorian décor. They have a happy hour, and they play bingo. They have all kinds of games, and they take them on outings. They might go to the local casino, on shopping trips, and things like that. They do arts and crafts too. The only reason I didn’t give them the highest score is because it is expensive, and the room is very small.

I have heard good things about Elder Wood. It is in my hometown, so I was able to visit. I was not able to try the food, but the dining rooms were nice. The rooms were adequate, and they have an activity center where they can do arts and crafts, play bingo, and they have kids coming to sing.

I visited Elder Wood and took care of a lady who lived there for three years. The rooms were new, and everything was very nice. The service was good. However, they were understaffed. The only drawback was that there were only two old elevators from the first floor to the third floor in the old part of the building. I remember very well when one elevator broke down, it took a very long time to get the part for that one elevator, and the facility where the residents ate was on the second floor. So everyone on the first floor had to go up, and the ones on the third floor had to go down, and there was only one elevator to serve all those people. They virtually used their walkers to beat each other to the elevator so they could be first. It was really not good.

I wasn't really happy with Elderwood Village At Rosewood. In general, the facility itself did not feel light and airy. Both my parents have mobility issues and I feel like they would have trouble getting around their very long hallways. I also found the windows in their rooms to be very high. You would have to stand up to look outside. Again, because of my parents' limitations, they would be unable to do that. They do have activities for their residents, although most of them are unappealing. I was there one time and there was a woman lecturing about health risks of not having enough water-that's just boring! Sometimes they would have somebody come in and play the piano, but not everyday and not all the time. They definitely need to make their activities more exciting and engaging.

Rosewood Village is extremely clean, and the staff is very kind and helpful. There is a library, a community room with a baby grand piano, and a computer available for the residents to use. Each of the three floors has a few stations with fresh coffee, and at least two lounges with flat screen televisions. There are also kitchens available to the residents on each floor (most rooms are only equipped with a kitchenette - mini-fridge, microwave, and two electric burners). The dining room is clean and well decorated, and in addition to the daily specials for dinner, there are choices such as subs and salads available as an alternative every day. Resident's rooms are equipped with their own thermostat, so that the resident can set the temperature as high or low as they like. The room that I visited (my grandmother's) had a single bedroom, private bathroom, living room, and kitchenette, and had ample closet space for clothing and storage. Before she moved in, the facility put down new carpet and painted her apartment. There are studio and two bedroom rooms available.
