Assisted Living Communities in Orchard Park, NY

"The Amberleigh has assisted living where you can transition into memory care. It's one of the two top places that I looked at in Buffalo. The lady was amazing. The only reason I would go with the other place over The Amberleigh is for financial reasons. Amberleigh is private pay only. They had transportation services. The staff, the building, everything was right up there at the 5 level. It seemed a little bit bigger and seemed to accommodate more people. I didn't try the food there. As far as services, staff, and living quarters, they were 5's. They had an activities calendar, and they get them out twice a week to go shopping to stores around the area, which I thought was really nice. They had medical services onsite once a month. They had an inhouse doctor, which I thought was cool. They had a gift shop, a movie room, and an activity room."

"My mother has been in this facility for about 5 yrs. It was Tonawanda manor when she went there. Most of the girls who worked for Tonawanda manor have left and the new staff is mostly caring except for a few. Our main concern is that these people get the same respect you and me would get on a daily basis. some of the rooms need to be painted,,not sure whose responsibility this is but on a whole it is a caring home. If you do have an issue you can easily address it with staff. plenty of social activities and the food is plentiful "

"We toured the Elderwood Assisted Living at Wheatfield, and my husband's niece is in assisted living. It's a two-bedroom, two-bathroom unit. It was clean. People come in and help with the housekeeping once or twice a week. The staff we met who took us on the tour were very pleasant, welcoming, and patient, and tried to help us out with what we'd like at this level of care. They do the lawn care outside, and they send somebody once a week to wipe off the counters, do the vacuuming and stuff, and clean up the bathroom. There's an emergency call light in each unit, even though you're not in the actual nursing home."

"At Heritage Manor of Lockport, everybody seemed to know everybody. There's great communication. It seemed like a nice friendly place to live. It's a clean facility. Their dining area had assigned seating versus just having people sit where they wanted, mainly because it was a smaller place. The cook had been there like 26 years or something like that. There's a lot of home-cooked stuff. It was a very nice facility. They had single rooms. The only thing is if they had two to a room while you're waiting for a single room, there wasn't any privacy. There were two beds almost side by side. Some of the facility was a little dated."

"My Mother is a resident in the assisted living facility. The staff are very friendly and most have worked there for a long time, which speaks volumes. Stacey the director of nursing is very helpful and clearly loves her job. They’re have been many renovations & improvements done lately which the residents love. I am pleased with my Mother’s care. A+++++ "

"I love this assisted living facility. My great grandmother actually just got resident of the month because of how great she is doing there. It is pretty amazing that she went from a woman who did not like to talk to anyone, to one of the most popular ladies there. Everyone at this facility is nice, and care about what they are doing. I would recommend this facility to anyone who has grandparents or parents who are in need of looking after because of how great it is. In the facility itself there is an ice cream parlor which is great because many people love ice cream and it is a great place to socialize with your family members. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and the best part is that your loved one will never have to worry about paying for them out of pocket. You pay one set price per month and you are even allowed to go on special field trips.This is a great place because it is in the woods. The residents are able to walk around and even feed the wild life. You are even allowed to have your own little garden in front of your window. You get your own room, so you never have to worry about someone stealing your things or misplacing them. All in all this is an amazing facility and I hope it is around for decades to come. "

"My friend is going to go to St. Francis Park in Hamburg. It's a very nice place. It's beautiful. They had a beautiful library, spacious grounds, and big rooms. And they were really nice to us. Right away I like that place. When we came in there, somebody had a private birthday party and they invited us. Everybody was so friendly. They're super. All the people that live there came over and talked to my friend. They asked her name and everything. They're super friendly. Everything was nice about the place. They have a beautiful library and a beautiful chapel. They have sitting rooms and everything. They have studio rooms. They have a beautiful swimming pool, too."

"My sister-in-law moved into The Courtyards LLC. I also have a cousin who's been there for several years now and they treat her very well. The staff is very nice, and they show a lot of interest and a lot of care for their residents. They have very comfortable surroundings, good care, good regular nutrition, and regular medication. They do a lot of crafts and a lot of games. They have a salon, they have good grounds for walking, and they have an interior courtyard."

"My mom was a resident for almost 2 1/2 years at Eden Heights. I can not say enough about this facility. From the first day we came to see it right until our last day, everyone treated us like family. The nurses and aides are exceptional! My mother never had a complaint about anyone working there. From the front office to the food service department, they made her stay more enjoyable. Thank you Eden Heights for taking care of mom, it made the last 2 1/2 years easier for her!!"

"My husband will be going to Eden Heights of Eden for a week for respite. I went to see assisted living, and it was very good. I liked the open spaces outside, and the place was clean. The staff was very good. The room we saw was very nice and big. The food looked good enough. My husband will get help doing things like dressing, eating, and his medication. It looks more like a hotel atmosphere, instead of a home. It's kind of set off by itself."

"I would have loved to have mom here but she ended up needing a nursing home. It was clean and very homelike. Other places are like cold hospitals."

"I visited my grandmother for two weeks in this complex. The complex itself is very beautiful. The grass is well kept and the dumpsters are contained in little houses so it looks very nice. The complex has the usual woes of any apartment complex: the windows are drafty, the appliances outdated, the HVAC needs to be cleaned, etc. There is, however, one HUGE complaint: my grandmother lives UPstairs. Who puts senior citizens in upstairs apartments? There are twenty five steep stairs leading to the second floor of her building that she must climb with groceries and trash. "

"My father has now passed way, but we have used Hospice Buffalo when he was still alive for about two weeks. The whole experience was fine and we were able to use their nursing consultative services. Overall the care was fine. "

"This facility is very well staffed and organized. The home is kept very clean and the residents are well cared for. All families and friends are welcome and tons of food, desserts and drinks are served. We all play games and have a blast every year! The grounds are very well maintained and the staff plant flowers and keep the home looking nice. The workers all pull together and run the facility very smoothly. The residents make little crafts for everyone to take home with them and they have a great time! "
