My mom was at Eden Heights of West Seneca City for about a year. We chose it for the location and affordability, she was able to afford it at that time, but things have changed. The staff was very friendly. The atmosphere gets friendly, I was hoping she could stay there, but she can't. It's a good layout, she likes the food, and the dining area is very big. They have bingo, card games, music that comes in a couple of times a week, church once a week, and they do therapeutic activities. They do crafts and stuff. They have coffee and chocolate and cookies afterward, they always have goodies. Two times a day they have the ice cream parlor.

Eden Heights of West Seneca was a clean facility and the people were very cooperative. We never had any issues with bedsores or anything like that. We always found our in-laws to be clean and cared for. Their medicines were delivered correctly and they got three meals a day. They had community rooms, all sorts of exercises, and social programs that they could use. The staff was very courteous, kind, compassionate, and very helpful. If they needed anything from the doctor, they would contact us so we could get notify the doctors if there were any concerns. The layout of the facility was very nice. It had areas for companies to come to, if they didn't want to stay in the room of their loved one, they could go into those areas and close the doors and spend time together. For the activities, they had puzzles, an exercise area, two courtyards, card games, a TV room, and scheduled events where they would take the residents out in the van to go shopping or go someplace else like a field trip.

My brother was at Eden Heights of West Seneca. He was there for two and a half years. It was fine for about a year and a half, and I don't know what the tipping point was about a year ago. He was upset that they've had several management changes and then things didn't go well from there. He felt like the residents' voices weren't heard and that the management was consumed in the bottom line of cost without going into a lot of detail. It just led to a lot of tension. The facility was nice. It was one floorplan. They had a beautiful courtyard and a meeting room. It served my brother very well for a year and a half. He was very happy there. However, they're very understaffed and that's obvious in the manner in which they operate the place. They can't seem to keep a staff ratio which impedes their ability to provide the services and the amenities. As far as the staff, he told me, there were wonderful people on the staff that went beyond, and he said there were some members of the staff that were just awful. He had an altercation with somebody in the food service and eventually the management fired that person for how rude he was to the residents of the place. It's a lot of internal stuff. I think they had two management changes in the last year to a year and a half, and they just don't seem to be responsive to residents' needs. They had different types of rooms. They had one bedrooms and suites. When my brother went there, they told me they only had a semi-private, but then one opened up and he got a private suite. I know that he was happy in the facility that he had. When he first got there, there were a lot of field trips where they took residents to places, but I didn't think that happened within a year and a half.

I went to Eden Heights of West Seneca. The layout was nice. It's all on one floor. I like the width of the hallways and the upkeep. It's older, but they are updating at this time, and it's nice. The staff was outgoing and friendly. The rooms were exactly what you need and I like that the shower was a zero-boundary entrance. They offer activities, but I didn't look into that. They have a game room and an ice cream parlor. They have a walking trail and a middle courtyard area. The only thing why I didn't pick them is they contract out to do diabetic management, so the nursing staff is not able to test your sugar and they're not able to provide insulin.

My mom moved into Eden Heights of West Seneca in January. It's assisted living and seemed like a nice place. I was only there a couple of times. Since then, I've heard that the staff keeps changing they way everything is now. People quit, and they hire new people. Her room is basic. It's a little spacious, so it's more than enough room for her. It's a private room. The dining room looks good. They have tables apart. They don't sit people together. It's very spacious and very big. The cleanliness was good. Since they got a new maintenance guy, I don't know what it's like now. There's been a lot of changes. It's expensive, but I guess it's OK. She's getting her money's worth. They play bingo and all kinds of games. They have a T.V. room, where they watch football games and stuff. Mom was telling me that the last time I talked to her last week, apparently they don't have an air conditioner. I don't know how true that is or if she's going to get one for her room, but I can't imagine a building that size that doesn't have air conditioning.

I went to Eden Heights of West Seneca. It was not up to the standards of the other places. It wasn't modern, and I didn't care for it at all. It was clean and all that, but it just didn't have the feeling, like the other places are more modern. It didn't look like it was run as well as the other places. The staff was OK, but not up to the standards of the other facilities. They weren't as knowledgeable or as helpful. The dining area was average. I did not have the food. The whole place was average. It was not up to the standards of the other two places. I didn't see too many activities at that place. They had amenities, but when you don't have a good impression of something, you just want to go through and get out. They had the barbershop, and they had an activity hall place where they watch TV together and all that. It's an older building. When you go to these other places, they're more modern and it had a better feeling to it than Eden Heights. However, they only have so much to work with an older building. They can improve the décor, like the flowers and stuff on the wall; they can improve it that way. It just didn't have the good vibe as it did with the other places, and the staff also, they were not as personable or helpful as the other two places.
