"The Amberleigh was a very nice facility. It was very impressive, but I think the money problem was the issue. We had a very nice tour experience. It almost looks like a hotel. It's very clean. There are no odors whatsoever, and that's very important since there've been a few that we walked in and the odor just hits you. The staff was super and very accommodating. We had a bunch of questions and she answered them. The outside looked beautiful and they also have times where they take them out on trips. The dining area was very lovely."

"My Mother-in-law has been living at Tennyson Court since July 2016. We moved her from another community where we did not feel that she was getting enough attention, and she was not thriving. We have noticed an amazing transformation in her since she has been at Tennyson. She is active and engaged again. Her memory seems better, she is happier, she has made very nice friends and the staff are wonderful with her! Every one of the staff know her, from the maintenance staff on up, including the administration team! There are an amazing group of aides who help with picking out her outfits for the day, taking a shower and keeping her room always looking neat and tidy. The in-house nurse practitioner helps correct her medications, and she seems a lot clearer. She is looking and acting like her old self again. She is eating really well, where before she was barely eating and losing weight. Because of the design of Tennyson Court it is easy for her to find her way to activities. She no longer has to manage an elevator or long corridors. The household dining rooms are really nice and home-like, and it has made it much easier for her to make new friends. Her room size is perfect and looks beautiful. She now goes on outings, and participates in a wide range of adult activities. My husband, family and I are very happy and relieved that she is so will cared for and is having such a nice, full life. "

"I was very impressed with the quality of this assisted living facility. My grandmother said she liked it there as well. They gave out snacks for her to enjoy while we were there. They also had a game room where she could go to hang out with other people living there. Each room had a television with full cable, which was more than my grandmother could ask for, she was used to just having the rabbit ears. They also had a shuttle service that would take people to doctor's appointments or grocery stores if needed. The nurses were very friendly as well. They would frequently check up on my grandmother but left us alone for the most part while we were visiting. The nurses actually got to know their patients; they would talk to them and play games with them. I also liked that there were aids that came around to clean. This happened often which really helped to make the entire facility clean and look nice. "

"Peregrines definitely the place for you or your family member. We have experienced all types of care for my brother and have truly found a home for him that is welcoming and caring. The administration is very experienced and ready to do whatever is needed to provide individual independence and acceptance. The staff, including dining, laundry, cleaning, maintenance and front desk support are friendly and does what it takes to make your home life very pleasant and comfortable. The nursing care support and services provided make it a great long term plan for you or your family member. I have peace of mind that my brother's care is in good hands- which is priceless"

"I visited Elderwood, and I was only there for about an hour. They have everything there, and they seem friendly too. It is hard to tell unless you get in there and stayed there. The rooms are good, and they have a kitchenette too. The only trouble is they have three floors. It seems alright, but I can't really recommend it because I don't know enough about it. The girl that interviewed me was very friendly. Elderwood is nice, and I almost went in there but they have me up in the third floor, and I didn't care for the third floor. "

"Heritage Manor of Lockport is a smaller facility, but they designed that to promote socialization within the residents, encouraging them to get out of their rooms. One of the things that I liked when we first walked in was the common living room was populated and residents were talking with each other and greeting us. We saw people walking around the hallways, talking to each other, too, and it was very encouraging to put somebody in that facility. The staff is very friendly. When you look for someone of my mother-in-law's age, a lot of their issues relate to being lonely, but this was not an environment at all that I would say would be lonely. Even though it's smaller, it's still very well maintained and very well laid out. They had several larger rooms that residents could get together and do group activities. Then they had several smaller areas that were a little bit quieter, that either family could go in and meet with their loved ones. Then their dining room and craft room were of decent size. I was satisfied."

"The people at Elderwood Assisted Living at Hamburg were very friendly. It's located very close to my house and to the downtown area. The staff was great. They were very nice and very helpful. The place was very clean. The dining room was very nice and big. They had lots of rooms for the people, and it was not all that cramped. They had a very nice activity center in the basement where they had activities going on all the time. I thought the studio room was fine, but my mother thought it was too small, so we decided on a one-bedroom for her."

"I visited Oakwood recently and I have to say that I was impressed by the positive changes that have been made there. New owners took it over about a year or two ago and you can tell. I visited when the old owners had it and it was horrible. Now residents look and sound happier. The new owners are putting money into the building by replacing the elevator, polishing the floors, painting, etc. I was told that they have plans to remodel the dining room, activities room and lounges. They are noticable changing out older furniture in the rooms with more modern dressers, nightstands, beds and lamps. The staff is excellent. Three staff members really stood out to me. Amanda, Jeanette and Karen were extremely friendly and helpful. The dining room crew are accommodating and make homemade meals. This place has really turned itself around. If you need a place that takes Medicaid this is one of the few assisted living's that will. Check it out...you'll be pleasantly surprised."

"My wife went to Mcauley Residence; it was right behind the hospital. She was there for her hip and knee rehab. The unit itself was good, but they had a turn over. It is supposed to specialize mostly hip and knee, but they don't have enough hip and knee rehab people. She had a different person every day, and she doesn't know what to do. She had two hours in the morning and an hour in the afternoon, and they were never the same people. There was no consistency in their rehab. The room and the food were good. Everything was good, except for the rehab. So, when she had to go in again, she didn't want to go there. They asked us why, we told them, and they said they were having a big turn over there and that they were trying to fix it. My wife was in a shared room. Though they were two people in there, it was big, and they had their own closet, dresser, bed, wheelchair, and chair. The shower was someplace else. The food was good. They had a menu, and the food was adequate. For the rehab people -- besides the two types of rehab -- they don't do much there, but I would recommend them to others. If they would have the right people in it, they'd do a pretty good job. The had her in her pretty fair shape, and I couldn't complain on that part of it. "

"The rooms are big and clean, Each room has their own bathroom and shower area. The nursing staff is very friendly and very knowledgeable. They care for the residents in the memory care unit and have patience with the relatives who do not really understand the time and work it takes to take proper care of the resident. The food is great, They have many activities for the residents from music sing along to bingo and sit-down exercises. There is lots of space for the residences to walk without bumping into one another. There is a garden for them to seat and relax. Lots of windows for bird watching"

"My brother picked Weinberg Campus for my mom. They have senior apartments, assisted living, and if she gets worse she can always stay there. They have a higher level of care. You don't have to bounce from one place to another. I think that's why we chose the facility because once you ran out of money the Medicaid takes care of that for him. "

"Wheatfield Commons was nice and modern. It was clean. The staff was not so great but overall, mom had her own apartment there, and it was just nice and modern. It's like a hotel. It was very welcoming. Not like these other places. It's just a matter of the staff again. The staff at night wasn't very good. I felt like they weren't checking on the residents like they were supposed to be. She had fallen several times and no one came in for a long time. The dining area was very nice. They did chair yoga, bingo, arts and crafts, and stuff like that. It was just so expensive."

"We will be moving my mom to Fredonia Place of Williamsville. I like that a lot of people and staff from my mom's previous community will be moving there, so there's going to be continuity for her. My mom is Catholic, and they have a chapel in the facility, which was a very important thing for us. So those are two of the major reasons that we selected this one. It's very, very open and there are a lot of windows and they looked out to one of the courtyards, which were exterior. The room had its own bathroom and it was a nice size. It is bigger than what she had at her previous facility, so we were very satisfied, and it's even one of the smaller rooms there. It's very clean, very nice, it's a beautiful building. What's nice about their memory care unit was that it wasn't very big, it only had about 23 rooms. It's right outside the nurse's station and right outside where the dining room is. It's all in a circle, so she can't get lost, it's very accessible and very easy for her to get around. One of the things we like about this is they don't do just the activities with the memory of residents. They come and get them, take them to a larger room where the assisted living is located, and do activities with the assisted living residents as well. So it's a mixture. The staff was very polite and they seem very friendly. It's a newer building that's very updated."
