I visited Oakwood recently and I have to say that I was impressed by the positive changes that have been made there. New owners took it over about a year or two ago and you can tell. I visited when the old owners had it and it was horrible. Now residents look and sound happier. The new owners are putting money into the building by replacing the elevator, polishing the floors, painting, etc. I was told that they have plans to remodel the dining room, activities room and lounges. They are noticable changing out older furniture in the rooms with more modern dressers, nightstands, beds and lamps. The staff is excellent. Three staff members really stood out to me. Amanda, Jeanette and Karen were extremely friendly and helpful. The dining room crew are accommodating and make homemade meals. This place has really turned itself around. If you need a place that takes Medicaid this is one of the few assisted living's that will. Check it out...you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Very very unacceptable place to live. The residents rooms are dirty. Hallways are dirty and need paint. Even when they say they have cleaned the rooms, they are still dirty - need vacuuming, mopping and dusting. Activities are boring. More music groups bring residents together. Not the same old same old activities. Staff should listen to what visitors ask for the resident and do it. I would rate this place as a ZERO.

I've had family in this assisted living facility. The biggest complaint is the food. They have a very limited selection. They also ignore patient's call buzzers. That's not very good thing to do, considering the age and health problems of their clients. The have very POOR security. Theft is a BIG problem at this facility, by staff and residents. Don't leave anything in the laudry room or it will disappear. There is nothing to prevent residents from leaving the property, no access control, a couple of lazy guards thats it. The floors are dirty, paints peeling off the walls. Activities are too few and too boring. Most of the room too small. Family members are never informed of all incidents. Baths and showers are infrequent. The facitilty doesn't own a vehicle, so there are no outings. Don't even think about complaining, unless you like wasting your time. The council there always denies any and all complaints.
