In six months of Memory Care my mother had Covid x 1, influenza requiring a hospital stay, a fall with broken hip. You have been forewarned about Bristal at Garden City. Needless to say my mother was not returned there.

I visited this facility

The Bristal at Garden City was a very modern building. It was very new. The staff during the tour was someone from their sales office. He was very nice. I thought everyone we met on staff was very nice. Based upon the fact that the staff was like rotating among the different Bristal communities, they weren't full-time staff in one place all the time. It's immaculate. The one-bedroom and studio apartments were sufficiently sized for what one person would need. The dining area was cafeteria-style. They had a very nice courtyard. They were very helpful with follow-up and concerned about my uncle. It was very nice.

My friend moved into The Bristal at Garden City. I like the room she's in. The menus are fairly decent. It was convenient to where I am. Most of the staff members are good. My friend complains about some of the evening staff. But otherwise, she seems to be okay. Her room is very nice. They have a pool and a garden. They have some entertainment there at least once a week. They have movies and bingo. Overall, it's pretty good. The meals look like very good meals. They have a bus that does take trips. They have a list of schedules for what's going on for the day. They usually seem to have two movies a day and a live performance once a week.

There are many things you will have to consider when choosing an assisted living community for your loved one. The Bristal at Garden City checked all of the boxes for us. They have excellent amenities, activities, entertainment, great food and a top-level wellness department. I am impressed with the level of care my mother is receiving. Her room is bright, decorated like a home and well kept. The staff have been very attentive, caring and compassionate. Special thanks to Sara H, Director of Community Relations who went the extra distance to help my family navigate the transition for my mom to assisted living. I am happy with our decision to get the best level of care possible.

Don't let the beautiful facility or their fancy advertising fool you. This place charges an arm and a leg making people think living there has Fine Dining and an "upscale" living experience with so many "extras". Well Covid gave them a good excuse to quarantine people to their rooms and for over a year serve the redidents cold food in cardboard boxes, no entertainment, no bus trips nothing (due to Covid) however... FULL PRICE with not one dollar of a discount! They have the most incompetent staff in every department from front desk to wellness (the WORST) and dining. Now that residents are no longer quarantined, they are still not providing bus trips or fine dining! They make people eat on a schedule same time every day breakfast, lunch and dinner and if they are not hungry "oh well" and if they want to change the time that day "no sorry, guess you can't eat today" but STILL FULL PRICE! The service in the dining room is just beyond terrible! The waitresses are lazy and could care less about bringing the RIGHT ORDER to the table! They bring soup with no spoon and try to call them you will wait 1/2 hour or more! Most days food is just bad and EVERY day the service is bad because they refuse to hire enough dining staff to cater to a full dining room! That's why they make the residents eat in shifts so they can have as little staff as possible! The Welleness Dept which is the most important is the worst! They never answer calls and never read the Residents chart to know what's going on. They just blame everything on the fact that they weren't working on that shift when something goes wrong. There is ZERO communication to staff and so every staff member gives the Residents and families a different rule to follow. No one in this place knows what's going on. If they were not charging TOP dollar, it might be understandable... but it's beyond belief to imagine what this place does with all the thousands of dollars Residents pay every month because there is NO fine dining, no bus trips, very little entertainment, incompetent staff and no good healthcare!

The apartments are spacious and have large windows. The staff is so caring. They know everyone’s name and encourage the residents to join in everything. They have trips to baseball games, restaurants and other fun venues. The food is wonderful with many choices. There is a pool, movie theater, game room, exercise room.

When we first came to visit The Bristal Assisted Living at Garden City, they were excellent. The staff was professional, they gave us a lot of assurance and that we're very comfortable that they know exactly what they're doing. My mother has a great room. It's all new, spacious, with high ceilings, and that's what we love about it. They have a list of activities for the residents. They have a bus there that goes out, and they went to Target today. The meals are very good, plentiful, a lot of nice food and nice portions. They cook without salt but they're very tasty. So far what we've found out is that the wellness department there is excellent. Anything you need is done right away. They take extreme care in doing things in a timely fashion. Also, they clean the room once a week, they make the beds every day, they have three meals a day, and there's snacks in between. They have a room with water, cookies and things. They also have a heated pool, and a pharmacy, which are additional features that most of the other places don't have. They can order the medications, and they get them right away delivered to you. The living environment is very colorful, happy-looking and they keep the place very clean. I would say that they're excellent, and the staff is excellent also. They've been nothing but helpful and they go out of their way for you.

I visited this facility

The Bristal at Garden City was nice, lovely, and new. We ended up having a nice lunch there, and the food was lovely. The people were wonderful. My sister-in-law's aunt moved in there and she's very happy and is very well treated. They had activities and a painting room, so we got to see some of their painted artwork. They had a lovely movie room with a little popcorn machine and a beautiful outdoor pool and relaxing area. They also had a nice little gym.
