"The Arbors at Hauppauge is a wonderful home for my mom. She is thriving in their loving, safe environment. She gets the best of care from dedicated, caring professionals. She recently told me she is having more fun at the Arbors than she has had in years. She is happy and safe and has developed life long friendships among the staff and the other residents. "My parents moved into Sunrise of Plainview. The memory care facility is only about 13 units. The thing that drove us to Sunrise was that both my mother and my father could be in the same room, and that was very important to us. The care they're receiving is exceptional, in our opinion. They seem to be thriving there. My father, with his dementia, wasn't speaking much at home, and now he's talking a little bit. So, I guess their interactions are helping them. The staff is very caring. We go there all the time with the grandchildren at different times of the day, and the level of care is always the same. So, we're very happy with our choice. They have a 1-bedroom apartment with a little seating area, a little bathroom, and a little mini refrigerator and a sink, which they don't need. They have choices for food. If I go there at lunchtime or dinnertime, I can purchase a meal and sit with them and have the same meal that they're having. The memory care facility is secure and they can't get out. You need a code to get in and out. They have scheduled activities. They have bingo, people coming in to sing, they have dogs coming in, TVs, trivia, and all sorts of things. We're very happy with them being there."

"My mother liked Atria Plainview a lot; she liked the way it was built and it was very clean. The person who took us on the tour was very informative, very nice and very pleasant. They gave us muffins, and they were very good. We haven't eaten there but we met the chef and she was very pleasant. The facility is very homey and mom felt very good about the place. She likes the idea that they have a salon and they have a backyard where she can sit out since it has benches and nice gardens."

"We have chosen Whisper Woods of Smithtown for my dad. He's moving in this Saturday. I like it because it's close to my house, it's new, and it's beautiful. We didn't see the room because of Covid. We will move my father in, so we will be able to see the room then. We are still going to be moving his clothes and things like that into his room. The staff was very nice and friendly, I like them very much. They're very caring towards the residents. It was beautiful, they painted it, and there's no carpeting. It's immaculate. I don't really know the staff, but the people I've met were very nice and very nice toward my father. I like the cleanliness of it and just the whole atmosphere. It makes you feel like you're in a 5-star hotel. It's beautiful when you walk in and it's very spacious. The outside is beautiful and beautifully landscaped. It was nicely done."

"Orchard Estate of Woodbury was wonderful. I was amazingly surprised that this facility was everything that I would want. It met all the things I had on my list. The people I saw seemed to be very content. I saw some activities and I saw the living facilities. I saw both the one-bedroom and the studio apartments. They were just what a senior would want. Not too big. Not too small. The care seemed to be well planned. Everything was available for you. In this facility, they don't allow cooking in the rooms except the microwave. There's no stove, but there's a fridge and a microwave, and that would be ample for any adult wanting to take care of themselves somewhat. The person who gave the tour was very friendly and very knowledgeable. She had nothing but praise for everything she showed us. They gave me a menu, which I was very interested in. They gave us a little token quiche when we finished the tour, which was made there, and it was piping hot and delicious. The décor was wonderful. They had decorated already for the holidays, and it looked very inviting. I would recommend that. "

"My father-in-law moved to Atria Bay Shore. It's very beautiful, it's in a beautiful location, and it's very clean. The food is really good. The facility is very well-kept. The courtyard is also very clean and spacious. He's not participating, but they have a lot of stuff. For the value it's extremely expensive."

"If you are in market for a long term care facility, then look no further than The Arbors at Islandia. After having to make the very difficult decision that it was time for my Dad to have 24 hour care, my sister and I spent many days researching options and going on "virtual" tours, in this time of Covid. My Dad has dementia and needed a facility that understood and accommodated this population. When we meet Melissa in the Memory Care unit of the Arbors in Islandia, we knew we found our home. From the very first phone call, Melissa was accommodating, sincere and caring. She "held our hands" through the process of moving our Dad which included an interview and comprehensive medial history. I appreciated how through she was and also how responsive. I could text her at any hour and she would reply, always graciously and always caring. After admission, we were handed over to the day to day team. At that point, Meghan became our point person and she was right in line with what we had become accustomed to. Meghan is lovely and caring and has gone out of her way to make sure we are up to date on my Dad's progress. She will text pictures and share stories and right now, since it's not possible to visit easily, this has meant so much to us After meeting Meghan, we were introduced to Nadia who has been a tremendous support, following up on questions and offering her concern and Rose, who is just wonderful with follow up and answering questions. Rose cares so much, and calls me before I even have a chance to call her. Rose, Vanessa, Erin and Amanda have also been extremely helpful setting up FT calls. And again, in this time of Covid, those cals go a long way. Using their personal phones and adding other family members on for me as well, they never make us feel rushed or like we are imposing on their time. And every time I call, I never get an automated message which is frustrating and cumbersome, instead, there are lovely receptionists, like Judy, you always answers the phone "with a smile" in her voice and is happy to assist. What I appreciate most of all from the staff at the Arbors is that they seem to really understand that for the families, it's new and uncharted territory. They never assume you will know something and they go out of their way to explain things clearly and accurately. It is great enthusiasm and confidence that I recommend The Arbors without reservation. "We visited Sunrise of West Babylon, and it was very nice, but definitely older. I didn't like the bathroom, it was handicap accessible, but the shower was a small stall. The staff was very nice and very good. The level of care was really high, but the price was also high. It needed to be kept up, and I wasn't impressed with it."

"I loved Sunrise. It was clean, bright, and airy. The residents looked happy. The staff was very friendly. The rooms were quite spacious with an area where the bed was, a dresser, chair, and a little kitchenette. It was quite nice. I didn’t taste the food, but they have a restaurant type of food. The have so many activities. They have a chapel upstairs, a beauty parlor, and a lot of stuff going on. "

"Christian Fellowship House was a lovely place. I saw a single room and a double room that had two beds in it. The staff was fantastic, absolutely lovely, very welcoming, warm, congenial, and polite. The place was very pretty, and the grounds were phenomenal. They also have a lot of activities. I was very happy with the placem but it was a little farther away. Their pricing was really good too. The dining room and the sitting areas were lovely. It had a lot of antiques like an old mansion. What makes the place really good is the fact that it's smaller and only has around 40 residents, so everything is personalized in many ways. All the residents looked very happy. The only thing I didn't like was that there were no bathrooms in the rooms."

"I did visit the Amber Court of Smithtown, and when we went to Amber Court for an interview, the woman brought us into a room that was filled with trash and crumbs all over the floor, all over the conference table. There were flies flying around the room and she just said, "Oh, I'm sorry", and left us in that room while we conducted the meeting. So, that was a turn off. When we went through the rest of the facility, it seemed okay."

"My mom is there now and she is doing well they are very attentive to her needs , sometimes it takes a while to get to her because they are short staffed , but as far as I can see they are good to her . We are there everyday and all of her needs are met. Try walking in their shoes before you judge how people are . They have to toilet these patients and sometimes feed them, it’s not an easy job "

"This is a wonderful place for my dad. The staffs are very caring and accommodating. They help him shower, get dressed, take his medicines and with other stuff he wants to do. He gets his meals 3 times a day and he says the food is great. Because he has Dementia, he doesn't really want to interact with others, he just stays in his room and watch TV. I can't think of anything that this place needs to improve; my dad is really in a good place. "
