I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom was at Cambridge Rehabilitation and Healthcare's memory care program. It's a mile from my house, but I hadn't heard much about it, so I went, and I immediately felt like this was going to be good for my mom. She was an introvert when she was healthy, and they had a small unit, only 13 rooms, so I immediately felt like it could work. They said my mom could get in, and then if her money runs out, she goes on Medicaid. She was considered a memory care resident and had a room with a large bed, a sofa, a chair, and a kitchenette. I changed her sheets every week because I could power walk there. My dad was also visiting her there twice a day, spending the whole day with her for that whole year. The people who worked in memory care were great. We really liked them, and they took really good care of my mom. They helped her shower and dress. It was a very good experience. I will say, like any place like that, you have to stay on top of it. There were some issues, and it wasn't with any people or any mistreatment or anything like that, but things would happen. I could talk to somebody, though, and we would address it, and they would take care of it. If there was ever a problem, it was always dealt with, which I appreciated. I think they took the best care they could for her, so I was happy with it. The food is geared toward older people, and I'm sure there are older people who enjoy that. My mom had a problem with eating, too. I can't say that everything looked deliciously appetizing, but I do understand that the people in memory care don't have their full faculties, and so they need softer food and things like that. The year that my mom was there, they also did a lot of construction. It looks great now because I have been back since then, and it absolutely looks fabulous. It looks way better than it did when my mom moved in, although not so much her room. I'm talking about lobbies and public areas. They did a lot of updating, and so it's really nice. The memory unit was a 24-hour care, but my mom could get up and get herself dressed. They would come and tell her that breakfast was ready, and she would walk down there. They had a gathering room where they had all the people in the unit, and they would do activities with them, like volleyball with a balloon, and memory games with a big board where they had to just match them up. They even had movies. Not all the people there could actually pay attention to that kind of thing, but they did make attempts to engage them.

My wife is at Cambridge Rehabilitation and Healthcare. It is a seriously nice place. The facility is so well taken care of. The staff is good. They think past what you're asking and provide more than you ask for. It's just terrific. Food is good, too. The building is impeccable. I've never even seen dust anywhere. It's just beautiful. Every day, they have more than one activity. They have several games. A counselor sits down with my wife and plays to improve her memory or at least slow the loss of memory down. So they have some hands-on things they do with her every day, not only to occupy her mind but also to improve it. They have outdoor decks, too. And for assisted living, you can have your own car there. They have resident parking.

Staff is skeletal to maximize profits. Part-time, temporary staffers hired by agencies care little about their work, however the few full-time staff are dedicated. My parent's nursing-home room was consistently dirty; one day there was dried feces on the floor. Staff ignore residents, who cry out for help or wait for hours to be fed. Employees are squeezed and directed to maximize recruitment over care; one of them was told to recruit patients rather than do the job she was hired to do. The photos do not represent the bleakness of the common rooms. Food is overcooked pap, often rejected by residents. Management promises to to bring in full-time staff, but they don't. Existing staff are overworked and stressed out. The movie theater closed during Covid and never reopened. The reception area is pleasant but take a close look at the dirty floors and tables of the residents' rooms.

I visited this facility

Cambridge Rehabilitation and Healthcare was beautiful and clean. I liked the staff. The money was too much there. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. It was near a lot of restaurants and shopping malls. The nearest hospital is probably about 8 to 9 miles away.

I have dealt with rehab centers before for my aging family. I know that there are bad ones and that there are good ones but I have to say that Cambridge rehab Center in Moorestown New Jersey is a fantastic facility. The staff has been exceptional in caring for my mother. I feel that the staff goes the extra mile to care for her not because they have to but because they want to. I would recommend this facility to anyone in need of rehabilitative care.

I visited this facility

My mother is here for her rehab and it was convenient and accepts medicare. Over all the facility has done an excellent job at that time they rehabilitate my mother with broken leg. She in a one room two bed, one bathroom and two TVs. She said the food is good. It is an excellent facility. But the medicare benefit ends. So we had to now take her out and that's when the assisted living will be coming in.
