Located eight miles outside of downtown Philadelphia, the township of Cherry Hill is home to 75,474 inhabitants, 19.7% of which are adults aged 65 and older — substantially more than the national average of 16.8%. Seniors are drawn to Cherry Hill for its small-town charm, nature trails and country clubs. It also offers access to senior-focused resources and local amenities. These include Jefferson Health General Surgery & Specialty Care and Cherry Hill Free Clinic, which offers primary health care services to uninsured residents.
Due to its proximity to Philadelphia, Cherry Hill has the same home care costs with its larger neighbor, which Genworth’s 2021 Cost of Care Survey lists as $5,329 per month. This is below the average cost for home care in New Jersey. Seniors requiring some basic medical care in their own homes can opt for home health care for an additional $10.
Below we’ve compiled a comprehensive directory of every home care provider in Cherry Hill– complete with services offered and reviews from families who’ve actually used the service. In addition to our in-depth provider listings, we’ve compiled resources to help seniors and their families to access all the tools they need to age in place safely and gracefully.

My mother and we have been extremely happy with Sunlight Care and all of their employees, Aides and administration since we started with them over a year ago. Their service is excellent and they have been able to accommodate mom’s needs, even at the last minute and esp with her changing health care needs. Mom loved Wanda who gave her weekly showers, and came in sometimes 2x daily to help with wound care. Wanda is an exceptional health care giver who truly cares and is very sensitive to mom’s needs. Sandy, the owner has been very accessible, caring, sympathetic and informational to our questions and has given us/mom the best care possible for mom in her time of need. Sandy went even as far as to recommend her opinion and gave suggestions to help us navigate mom’s health needs. Wendy in the office has been very helpful when we had any questions and was able to make the invoices very easy to place payment. We are very grateful for our relationship with Sunlight Care and highly recommend their company and services.

They actually started off really good, and then all of a sudden we started noticing maybe a couple of weeks then, she wouldn’t even show up or she was late or wouldn’t even call up or I would go over to my mom’s and no one’s there or her medication wasn’t taken.
So after a while I had to start calling my mom every morning just to make sure she gets up for her daycare to get dressed and everything. I talked to Addus Health Care numerous times about it. I talked to Philadelphia Corporation for Aging about it because they recommended Addus, and they actually talked to them as well. And they were shocked about the whole thing too because this usually is a very good agency, and they never had a problem with them, but they didn’t know what was going on.

Medicaid referred me to Always Home Care for my dad, who is a stroke survivor in need of a home health aide. These people put me through a series of questions and had me go through the work of getting a doctor’s referral for the services and then the agency (Deborah is the contact) told me (after I made several follow-up calls a week later:: "The owner has to sign the paperwork for the aide to lift your father. And then we have to find an aide who’s willing to do that kind of work." Mind you, I had already told this woman that my father can assist and doesn’t need to be picked up, only guided. After several more phone calls to them I was assured that Deborah would call me back with an answer. She never did. But God is good because if this is any indication of the reliability of any aides hired, my dad was spared and I was saved. Thank you, Jesus.

Financial Assistance for Home Care in Cherry Hill, NJ
Given the high cost of in-home care, many people use one or more forms of financial assistance to cover the expenses. Below, we explain some of the most common sources of financial help for paying for in-home care. If none of these options are available to you, you can reach out to your Area Agency on Aging or Aging and Disability Resource Center to learn about local resources.
- Long-Term Care Insurance: Long-term care insurance covers expenses related to senior care, including in-home care. Depending on the policy type, beneficiaries may receive a cash payment to use towards long-term care or reimbursement for qualifying long-term care expenses. Note that there are limitations- typically a maximum benefit of $150 per day- and exact coverage terms vary depending on the exact policy, so always check the details.
- Medicare: Medicare does not cover in-home care because it is classified as custodial, or non-medical, care. However, some Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement plans, which offer expanded benefits, may cover in-home custodial care.
- Medicaid: Medicaid coverage of in-home care varies between different states because it is not a federally mandated benefit. Currently, all states cover some in-home care either through their standard Medicaid or a waiver program. The specific coverage rules are set individually by each state.
- Veterans’ Benefits: The Aid and Attendance benefit is a monthly cash payment that beneficiaries can use to pay for senior care, including in-home care services. To qualify for A&A, Veterans must already receive the VA pension and meet several additional requirements, including needing assistance with the activities of daily living. Contact the Department of Veterans Affairs to learn more.
- Reverse Mortgages: Home Equity Conversion Mortgages (HECMs) are federally insured loans that are available to homeowners age 62 and over. Reverse mortgages allow you to access a portion of your home’s equity in cash, tax free. Many seniors use reverse mortgages to finance their care expenses, including in-home care. Note that although there are no monthly payments due on reverse mortgage loans, borrowers do have to repay the loan once the last surviving homeowner passes away, moves, or sells the home.
