"It is a new and very nice facility. It's a campus so people of the same health issues are in one building and people of a different health issue are in another building. The prices were pretty high. The grounds are very well-groomed and had plenty of parking and handicap spaces."

"I visited Mission Chateau. When I asked them questions, they couldn't answer some of the questions for me, which surprised me. The facility was fine. They have a pool, a physical fitness center, and a dining room. What drew me there is some good friends of mine have lived there for about two years, and I visited them regularly and I loved it every time I went in. I was just kind of taken aback that they couldn't answer all my questions. The rooms were very nice. Their food was very good. They had a lovely dining room. Their price is one of the higher ones, and in their brochure, they always say that there's $1,000 veterans benefits available, and when I was talking to them, this lady said she'd never heard of it. As we were sitting there, the director of the whole place was walking by, and she asked him to come over and explain it to me. He said, "I've never seen one of those go through," so I don't know why all those people listed that there's a benefit, because I was married to and buried three veterans and I thought veterans would certainly help. Their care is just wonderful though."

"My husband is in Brookdale Wornall Place. They're good about listening, changing things around, and calling me if they see things I need to know about. He was in a one-bedroom and I had to transfer him down to a studio because of maneuverability. He's also a fall risk. They will go in his apartment every couple of hours to check on him and make sure he is OK. They assist him and escort him down to his meals. He's starting to get more involved in the community activities. He likes the breakfast there. He does Be Fit and wheelchair exercises. They have arts and crafts, painting, pool table, swimming pool, Bingo, movies, pub, and entertainment. They have a monthly newsletter that lists the activities for the day. They have shopping, bus tours, bible study, exercise room, library, and farmer's market that comes in. The independent living facility is in the same building as assisted living, and they get to do some of the same things as the assisted living. I'm happy with everybody there. It's a beautiful facility. They would do pureed food if needed."

"My parents are in Brookdale Rosehill. They like the decor and love the food. They have many activities that they're planning to do. I can transition my father from this particular facility to the long-term care right next door. The staff picks up and gives my dad his medication, assists him to the wheelchair and brings him to dinner, and if he's not feeling well enough, they'll bring the dinner to him. They have an exercise room, a theater with nice chairs, places where they can put puzzles together and read books, little nooks and crannies, and gazebos outside. They do their laundry for them, people come and do their nails, and they have a salon. The staff is very friendly. The only thing I complain about is maintenance. If you ask for something, you might not get it that day. My parents have a one-bedroom apartment, which is small. They have crafts, singing, and Bingo. They're high priced, but my father is getting a lot for that."

"My father is happy with it. The people do their jobs. Overall the facility is much better than the other facility we visited. It’s a nice place to be. There isn't a smell, and the food is much better, which is a big deal for him. I think they are taking care of him pretty well, too. "

"My father in law moved to KC after the death of his spouse. From his first day to his last, the staff at Wexford Place has been phenomenal. They go out of their way to make the transition an easy one for the new residents. Throughout his stay, the staff was always helpful and gave us a ton of support. There was no question or issue that they would not help with, and we had some crazy stuff we needed help with. They put the people first. Unfortunately, we lost him this year. The staff was right there with us, helping us navigate through every stage and every detail. I will be forever grateful for everyone there and all the care they have to offer. I always knew my father in law had the help he needed. I love the flexibility they offer in allowing you to provide only the assistance they need to allow the residents to maintain as much independence as possible. Overall, I feel we all had a great experience with Wexford and I would highly recommend them to anyone. "

"My sister is very comfortable in Our Lady of Mercy Country Home. I like it because the people there are very friendly and the cleanliness is good. It's a Catholic facility and it has a chapel as well as a daily mass. The staff is excellent, very caring, and they also have excellent food. They have a lot of activities and she's enjoying them."

"I put a deposit down on Garden Villas of Lenexa. It was a welcoming environment. The representative presented the facility and all the amenities. The apartment that we chose has a door that would separate the bedroom from the living area, which was a nice feature for a studio apartment, and the community is very close to where I live. The staff member who toured us around was very friendly. As a matter of fact, I was there when the residents were eating, and they all acknowledged the staff as we were walking by. They made you feel welcome. It just appears to be a good environment. I met several staff members and most of them had been there for a long period of time. They have a coffee bar and an ice cream parlor. They have ice cream on Wednesdays. They have the activity where they take them to Target and to Walmart. There is a mall straight across the street, too. They have game rooms, a swimming pool, a hot tub, an outdoor, and an atrium area. Those are the things that most interest me. However, it's an older facility, and it's built on a hill."

"My mother-in-law is doing well so far at The Village at Carroll Park. We chose it because it was really clean. Everybody in there was super efficient and nice. The price was much more reasonable than any of the others that we looked at. When we moved her in, it was amazing how they handled it and everything. It worked out really well. She's in memory care, and the staff was all good. I didn't actually sample the food myself, but she ate every bite and she liked it. It's nothing fancy, but the care they give and the people there impressed me. They have a church, and they have activities. She had to get a semi-private room because that was all she could afford, but there was plenty of room in there for her. She has a chair, a television, a bed, and a table in there."

"Sweet Life at Brookdale Place Overland Park was fine. However, it was expensive. The staff was good and a bit more caring. I believe they had more activities. "

"I guess the question should be, what can't I say about the Oxford Grand. My wife's aunt came here in June of 2018. She knew some of staff from a previous assisted living facility she had been in and they were as excited to see her as she was them. The staff included our family in their activities when ever we where their visiting her. The activities were varied and engaging, meant to keep the residents active and happy. She always had a smile on her face and always treated the staff with respect and they loved her for it. ( That goes a long way in this industry) She went into Hospice at the Oxford in April of 2019 when her cancer was declared terminal. The staff bent over backward to take care of her. It was challenging to watch her deteriorate and I often saw the staff come out of her room with tears in their eyes. I heartily endorse the Oxford Grand. The residents are the #1 priority and it shows. There is some turn over in the staff but that is the nature of the industry. It is not their fault. When that happens I have seen the administration staff helping out in the kitchen while the CNA's take care of the residents. During snow storms, the staff stays at the Oxford to take care of the patients and cover the short staff from others being told to stay home. Respect the staff and they will respect you. Smile at them and treat them as family, because they become part of your larger family. We love the Oxford Grand."

"Our experience with The Wellington Senior Living has been pleasant. The staff has been professional. The food is better than average. My mother-in-law has fresh salmon that was grilled perfectly. So, she had a good meal. My meal wasn't that great though, but the menu looked nice. It is clean. The dining area is upscale, nice, and also very clean. It appears that it's a very good facility, and they have a very good assortment of activities on their list, like weekly outings. I think what we're paying for the services is quite expensive, but there's value in that. If there are services added, they charge for it, so you get what you pay for. You get an added service and a better place to live."
