My mother is at The Pillars of North County Health & Rehab Center. The thing I like the most is that the staff gets to know the family, as well as the client. They come up with a great plan that will work for the family for the type of care needed. They stay on task. They give you reports. They get to know you. For example, when you sign in, they say good morning. I don't have any negative remarks at this time. The care has been excellent. My mother has gained weight, and she's moving more on her own. The physical therapy department is excellent. They have gone above and beyond to make sure that she is on task and making advancement. If she seems to go through a hard day, they adjust to her mood. They offer incentives. For instance, my mother likes coffee. When she's on her little five-minute break or a little cooldown period, they give her coffee. They encourage her and say things like, "Let's do it again. Let's try again. Let's stand up and try to walk. Let's do our strengthening exercises." They give very good incentives that assist your family members. They seem to be giving them ample food, and it looks delicious. I was able to view her doing physical therapy and things of that nature. The food looks good, healthy, and nutritious. The facility looks clean. It doesn't smell like a nursing home. Overall, it's a great place. It's a pretty good location. They have their own rooms, so it's really good.

The staff did a very good job taking care of my mother, and also did a great job updating me on her health conditions. The rooms are nice and they do a very good job keeping them clean.

The facility smells like urine. They have gnats, and flies bad!!! This is the projects of nursing home facilities. While you’re visiting your family member, you are also fighting off the flies and gnats. They are ALWAYS short staffed, so they use alot of agency contracted workers. Most of the staff have quit, including the director. The rooms are small and filthy. They don’t clean the dividing curtains or the ones in the windows. They have just allowed visitors back in, but cannot get things like hair shampooed by licensed beauticians that are fully vaccinated. Do no send tour loved one to this facility, no one has left by transfer in the 2 yrs my mother has been there. They try and keep you because they don’t have many residents as it is. They don’t have any activities for the residents right now. Many days, they don’t get my mother out of bed because of staffing shortages. I wish we hadn’t sent her to this facility, & I’ve been trying recently to get her transferred to a nicer place since places have reopened.

My sister is a resident of The Pillars of North County Nursing & Rehab, but she's very unhappy there. The food is nasty and the care is not too well either, because the aides have an attitude. They take the residents to a baseball game, they take them to the casino, and everywhere, but again the food is horrible. The staff is pretty nice upfront, and I would rate them a four on a good day. They have a salon, a library, an activity room, and they are pretty good. The building is clean and flawless, and the floors in the hallways are shiny.

Searching for a facility for a parent, which was close to where I lived, was not a difficult task. I called for an appointment, which was granted. My first thought was it is going to smell, to my surprise there was no odor. In reviewing the facility consisted of: workers, OT/PT, nurses, planning committees, dietary, and office staff. The appearance of the staff was neat and clean, nicely groomed and the nursing facility was free from hospital smells; a garden in the rear with turtles and ducks. I would pop in unannounced all the time; there was also security in the evenings. The staff was genuinely polite, the facility was clean, some clients were in bed, others being pushed around in the wheelchairs, and some were walking around, watching TV. The library with wingback chairs had the atmosphere of being at home. Mother has since expired and did not have stay in the facility. The one item that I will never forget "is" they send me a personal note after mother had passed that said some very kind things. Thank you for allowing me to share my feeling and thoughts about this facility.
