I toured StoryPoint West Bloomfield. That one was pretty nice. The rooms were slightly smaller compared to the other location, and the other location was more modern-looking. StoryPoint West Bloomfield's staff members were very helpful, though. We checked out a one-bedroom and a two-bedroom. They were good. I wouldn't say anything bad about them. They had activities for people to get involved with. I think there were outdoor areas to enjoy. It would have been slightly closer in terms of location, but we opted for the other location because it was more my grandma's preference in terms of being more modern.

I'm a resident of StoryPoint West Bloomfield. I've been here almost two years now. I don't need help right now except they take my trash, vacuum, wash the floors in the bathroom, the showers, the sink and the toilet, they do some dusting, change the bed sheets, and they do my laundry. I do my own medications. My interaction with the staff is very good. We had a complete staff change, but I'm very happy with it, especially the executive director. It's a woman that I really like a lot and she's got a lot of experience. We also have a new head nurse, and she's much better. She communicates with us much more. Both she and the director have been in contact with me frequently. We have a lot of new aides and I miss some of the aides that they got rid of because they brought in some of their own people. In fact, I FaceTime with two of them. The ones that are here are friendly and good, but I just kind of miss some of the old ones. The place here is much more expensive than my previous place. It's about twice the cost, but it includes more things, instead of adding cost to everything you get. Mine is a studio apartment. I like it better because I have back problems and I have my bed and my easy chair right next to each other. I can go from one to the other according to how much pain I have. I have a TV that I can see from the bed and the chair. I have a desk and I have a couple of drawers for clothes and other things then I have two nightstands. I have a nice shelf by my window. There's room for my plants. The bathroom is wonderful. It's quite large with a big shower, sink and toilet, and it's got a tile floor. The carpeting is beige, and it goes well with my mahogany furniture, and I like that. The lighting is real good. I have pictures on the wall, pictures that people have painted for me and pictures that I've painted. I have a sink, a refrigerator and a microwave. They do not have burners or ovens here. The dining is very good. We have an excellent chef and he also is extremely friendly. He comes out and visits with people, so everybody knows him. Also, if you have a request, he's very happy to get you what you want. He makes sure there's fish on the menu, and they have things like fresh vegetables and dip or crackers and cheese before dinner, and they always have sweet potato. It's very clean and it's not too old. They have six activities a day. They move the trash two or three times a day. They have three housekeepers. They have a special room for physical therapy.

Son-in-Law

My elderly father-in-law has been living comfortably at Provision Living at West Bloomfield for over one year. He has been enjoying the community setting including the variety of daily activities and the monthly field trips. The staff has been very supportive as he progresses through the aging process. Especially wonderful is the attention to all of the resident’s health and wellbeing. The PVL-West Bloomfield site has recently become part of the Story Point Group and all of his support team have been even more helpful during the transition. One of the most satisfying improvements has been the new menu of food that the in-house chef prepares daily. They also are so attentive that if a resident has a special request, the team does everything they can to help out each resident. Our family has been so impressed with the kind care that my father-in-law receives… it is very reassuring to know that this phase of life can be made less stressful for everyone involved. Thanks again to David and his entire team!

My dad is in assisted living at Provision Living at West Bloomfield. It's great. They take good care of him. The staff is great. The food is great. They have really good activities. They have a gym for PT. The facility is nice, and he is well cared for. The food is really good. The chef makes the food. It's a good variety. You can either eat at the restaurant or in your room. Bigger portions would be our suggestion, though.
