This is the real deal!!! We currently have our friend, Rosemarie, in Sunrise of Shelby. I was careful in choosing just the right assisted living facility for her as I'd had a few very bad experiences with other facilities. My husband and I had just been told by the facility that she had been in, that they would not take her again, as they could not meet her needs. Rosemarie is sharp and pretty active at 97. She's an amazing woman and we wanted the very best for her. Her needs were minimal. We happened to be driving by Sunrise and decided to inquire about the possibility of Rosemarie visiting. Within a few minutes we'd met Amie, who had given us so much information, checked with the nursing staff to see if she fit the criteria, gave us a tour and by the end we were convinced this was the perfect place for Rosemarie. She became a resident and absolutely loves all of it. From the waitress service and new menus at each meal, the numerous activities with an excellent activity director, far above average nursing care, well maintained and spacious rooms, to the true compassion and respect for the residents. We've never experienced anything like Sunrise. The kindness they show to each resident and everyone who walks in the door is so refreshing. We were also greeted by the "house" dog, Pinky, who visits residents, greets newcomers and regulars with such delight. We are forever grateful to the staff at Sunrise of Shelby for their care and consideration. If you are considering assisted living for a friend or loved one, please take a minute to check out this facility.......Rosemarie told me yesterday that she had decided to sign up for every activity they offer!!!

We toured Sunrise of Shelby Township and we liked it because it was small. They had a limited number of beds, and that's probably the biggest thing we liked about it. The apartments seemed OK and functional. It had everything one person needs. The place looked comfortable and homey. My rating was just based on a very quick walk through and I didn't see a whole lot.

Sunrise of Shelby Township seemed very nice inside when we first walked in. I thought the rooms were a little bit smaller than the other place and not as well laid out and they didn't seem to have anything going on for the people in memory care. They were just sitting around. They seemed to have more outside areas to sit in and walk around in. The staff was very straightforward about everything, very helpful, and answered all our questions adequately. The dining area didn't seem as nice as the other place, but the facility was very well maintained.

I toured Sunrise of Shelby Township. There was a lot of activity; there was a lot of life. The staff were engaging and friendly. They had a salon. The room sizes were okay; I don't remember thinking they were not adequate. The building was very well maintained. It's not too far from my home. There are some restaurants nearby. It's probably five miles from the hospital, and it's probably a mile and a half from the mall.

Sunrise of Shelby Township was a nice facility overall. I opted against it because 1.) it was relatively more expensive than where my dad is now, and 2.) it was louder. I only interacted with the admissions person who was very helpful, and she followed up with me as well. She's the one who walked me through. The place was too loud and too large for my dad, otherwise, it was a very fine facility.

Sunrise of Shelby Township looked like it was a great community. They had seniors that were engaging in activities. It's a very comfortable, cozy atmosphere. The person that did the tour was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions, and there was great follow-up afterward. The rooms were nice. They were just the right size. It was nice that they offered a little kitchenette area. Overall, it looked like a nice, clean environment. It's well-maintained. We did not visit the dining area, and that was our choice because my grandmother probably would be eating in her room.

We saw assisted living at Sunrise of Shelby Township. The facility was very nice. It has a different appearance than some of the other ones. It looked like a midwestern farmhouse situation. They had a nice bistro and a nice common area. The rooms were not quite as nice. The rooms were compartmentalized, and they were studios. The staff was very friendly. The menu looked very good.

Sunrise of Shelby is horribly managed, negligent in care, and certainly more concerned with money than their residents. I have praise for the front line workers that are overworked, underpaid, and underappreciated by management. The entire facility is understaffed for about a year, as told to me , multiple times, by staff AND managers Karen and Mark. Yet, they still host tours for new residents while they are not able to keep up with the care that they are already paid to provide to current residents. They regularly serve hotdogs, pizza, and other prepackaged foods. They have bleached or lost many clothes. Their idea of activities are passing out a daily flyer or having residents watch Dean and Friends ALL DAY on TV. They claim to have personal relationships with residents and accommodate each ones needs. Yet, they cannot even keep track of Mom's hearing aids and phone. They put on a nice show with furnishings and descriptions on the website. But they do not live up to their claims.

My Grandfather lived at Sunrise of Shelby for three years. Although our intent was to keep him at home, his Alzheimer’s progression made that impossible to handle. Sunrise became his home away from home. The staff is caring and supportive and treated my Grandpa with dignity and respect. We felt peace knowing he was well cared for and in an environment where he was loved and cared for.

I went to Sunrise of Shelby Township. It's nice and clean on the inside, and the rooms are nice. The lady who came down to help us and take us for a tour was very friendly, she was very nice, and she answered all our questions. They have a nice-looking dining area. It was well lit, it was roomy, and the tables were set really nicely. It looks like a restaurant where you really go in for a nice dinner. They have exercise, activities, and a separate activity room. It was homey; it was friendly.

I would give Sunrise of Shelby Township a 5 all across. It was very clean, and it was a very nice community. It's very homey and very well put together, not a mishmash. It makes you feel like you are walking into a home. The rooms were very nice, clean-looking, and are a good size. You could get your own. You don't have to share business with a person right next to you. It was very well put together too. I thought that would be a nice place to go.

Sunrise of Shelby Township was very busy, very active, it was a little smaller in size, and a little pricier over our budget. The staff seemed to be okay and attentive. The rooms were small, there's variety of food, but we didn't have anything there.

Sunrise of Shelby Township had smaller rooms than the place we ended up choosing. They had two-bedrooms with one bathroom. Their rooms and bathrooms were smaller and weren't as handicapped accessible as other places. They had a really small handicapped bathroom by their laundry room, and the shower is no bigger than that what's in the room. Their tub looks like a very new and a high-end kind of tub where you can put someone who's in a wheelchair from the side, and the side goes up from the bottom. They have a lot of food options and would have been able to control my mom's diet because she's diabetic. They hav hot meals, and they have other standing items like sandwiches and different things available if you don't want what's being served. They give the residents more options for the food. They have one dining hall where they all eat. This community is double the size of the place where my mom is at now, but they have more staff members. It's a nice community with decent staff and decent food.

Sunrise of Shelby Township was a beautiful place. The activities they had were astounding. The menu and the rooms were gorgeous. They're empathetic with what we were going through and were explaining things. The rooms were spacious, clean, and airy and had windows. It wasn't like a nursing home. It was like a little apartment inside the building. It's like a cruise ship.

Sunrise of Shelby memory care was very nice, clean, and well-appointed. The person who gave us the tour was very knowledgeable and good. The only knock that I would say is that the folks who are put in memory care seem like they are restricted to the upper level of the facility. They also had a la carte pricing. It looked like they had a singalong class that was geared for memory care residents. They seemed like they did a good job in trying to engage the residents.

The rooms at Sunrise of Shelby Township were small and my husband and I were considering sharing a bathroom with another gentleman. It was very pretty, well done, and very clean. It just didn't seem to fit into our budget. We were there at lunchtime, so the dining room was very full of people. None of the rooms had any cooking facilities except a microwave and a small refrigerator. They had people in the exercise room and there was one person in a rehab facility, but it was the size of a closet, with not a lot of equipment in it. Most of the staff members were excellent.

I have visited my friend on several occasions who is on the third floor during the day and evening. The place looks better with the remolding. I personally would not put my family member there due to some of the staff's rude behaviors and lack of empathy for the people they are caring for especially in the evening. My friend seems to like the food very well and their room.

Everyone seemed nice. The people living there were clean, happy and engaged in activities. The food seemed great judging from the many choices they have. The place is a Little worn down which isn't what I expected for such a high dollar company. But they did say they will be remodeling soon. You can tell it's a good place just by the feeling the staff gives you. The young man that gave me a tour was great and seemed to believe what he was selling. He was polite and informative. I was introduced to lots of people.

Tables in the bistro area were very worn out. The whole place seems cramped, overdone in a old fashion Victorian decorating style with outdated burgundy and hunter green colors. Make sure when you're touring you meet the Executive Director-I saw him out of the corner of my eye but he wasn't introduced to me and he didn't stop by to meet me. The true quality and caring within any of these places starts at the top.

Sunrise was nice, it was clean, and they had doctors that come on-site. The guy that I met was very nice, he answered my questions, and he toured me through the facility. However, I didn’t like how the rooms were laid out. They either had a single size room or a common space to be shared by the residents.

Sunrise of Shelby Township's director was nice, but I didn't like the place at all. It was way overdone, had so much junk in it, and so many pictures on the wall. There was only one bedroom closet. It looked like a Victorian mansion with a porch going all the way around and a patio, but I would never stay there. It seemed that the people were really sick.

Do not move your loved one into this facility! Avoid trusting your loved ones to this "care" facility, This place is a mirage... the decor is pretty and the sales personal are great at marketing this is as a wonderful place to live, but it is all for show. The memory care floor workers are not adequately trained and they treat the residents terribly. At any given time, they have 30 or so residents seated in front of a television. It makes me sick to think our elders are treated so poorly, especially when they are suffering from such an awful disease.

Out of the three places I visited, Sunrise would have been my second choice. It was a very nice place. It was probably the prettiest of all and real close by. I just felt afraid that mother might be a little bit isolated because of the way they were set up.

Sunrise was a very nice facility; it was our second choice. The staff seemed attentive to the residents. It had an old-fashioned, colonial feel to it. Someone was playing the guitar when we visited, and they have cards, bingo, and some exercise equipment. The dining room was nice, and the menu had a wide variety to choose from plus daily specials.

We visited Sunrise Of Shelby Township. It was a very nice facility. They evaluated my mother and deemed her necessary for memory care, but they did not have an opening for memory care. Nevertheless, they had great activities, and it was a great place.

Sunrise is nice place. It's clean and comfortable. The staff is caring and enthusiastic. My relative lives in the Reminiscence Neighborhood (memory care) and I feel that she is safe. She is quite content. The staff spent a lot of time getting to know her and they went out of their way to make her fit in and feel at home. They are aware of her strengths and work those in to her daily routine. They also know her likes and dislikes. There are many activities to do. But the residents do not have to do them all. They have things to do for a wide range of abilities and offer frequent entertainment. The food is very good. They also have a cat and dog there, which the residents seem to like. The drawbacks are that it is a little pricey there and there is limited parking.

I have my mom in now at Sunrise of Shelby Township. She moved in a month ago. The facility is very good. It's approximately only 3 miles from my house, so that's a good thing. Everybody working there is very kind and very caring. The place is clean and well taken care of. My mom has only a bedroom by herself. She shares a bathroom with another lady, though. Some people have much bigger rooms, and some people have smaller rooms. Their activities are pretty good. They have it all signed up for one month ahead of time so you know what's going to be going on. They have outings, and you can go out if you want.

Sunrise is very beautiful but pricey. It’s fairly new, and it has a beautiful building. When you walk in the lobby there’s a very nice coffee bar for the people, and any time, they can sit down. They have a separate sitting room for those in memory care, and lights on the ceiling for them to meditate.

I really like Sunrise of Shelby Township. The staff was great. I saw their activity schedule. I walked around their dining room. I walked around outside. They had really nice facility and places for the residents to go outside. I really like that.

My family and I looked into Sunrise of Shelby for about a month, before making the very difficult decision, to place her there. The sales associate was wonderful; we made a deposit and were planning on moving mom in this week. Unfortunately, we were notified a day before move in, that they no longer could accept mom, for reasons they couldn't "really disclose". Had we known there was any potential of this happening, we would have been prepared, and looked for other options or had a back-up plan. But now we are in a very bad crisis situation due to Sunrise. Sunrise let my family down greatly, and wasted a lot of our very valuable time as well. Again, this is something that has been a sure thing for a week now and we are still confused as to how this could have happened. Again, Sunrise never notified us of mom being 'denied' and of this being a potential situation at all. Very disheartening.

Mom was at Sunrise of Shelby Township for respite care for a short period of time. The quarters were much more closed, which I think too small for the number of residents that they have. She was not comfortable there at all. For someone that needs their space, this place just wasn't working for us. Their food was cafeteria institution food. The employees though were very nice, friendly, and eager to help. However, they didn't seem quite as well educated in geriatric patients with dementia or Alzheimer's.

My husband is still in the same facility in The Sunrise of Shelby Town. He's been there for over a year now. He likes it there. He seems to be happy. The only thing that I'm complaining about is the parking around there. It is very bad for me. It's very difficult for me to be walking and looking for parking. However, I did call the corporate office and complained to them about it. So supposedly their working on it. I do like the place but they're very, very expensive. The staff has been doing very good. The doctor asked my husband, "Are you happy here?" and he said, "Yes!". With regards to the food, you can get food any time you want. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. They have snacks in between breakfast and lunch and snacks between lunch and dinner. And if you want something else you can request like a sandwich maybe. I would recommend them to others.
