Independent Living Communities in Longview, WA

"Up until a month ago, my grandparent was in independent living at Prestige Montecillo Park, and they just help her out once in a while if she needs it, but she just moved into the actual living side of it because she fractured her hip. Everything is beautiful; it looks perfect. It looks actually more like a fancy hotel, so I thought it’s very nice. They are just very nice and patient. It is second nature to them, and they have no issues with the people who were around. There were many people -- the older people and the ones who were just workers. She has no issues with the food, and she’s very pleased, no issues at all. They give her special hot tea with her lunch every day and bring her whatever she wants. They’re just very sweet. My mom didn’t think she was going to be able to handle having her in there with the pay and everything like that, and it’s all worked out and has been very beneficial to our family. "

"We toured the Delaware Plaza. I was very happy with the staff, and I felt the rooms were clean and attractive. It just seemed smaller than what we could get at the other place. They're beautifully appointed, the furnishings and design effort. It was very nicely done and in good taste. They had a common room, a game room type area, and a library. The dining room was accessible from a couple different ends for the residents."

"I went to Canterbury Park Signature Independent Living. It was way out of our price range. We talked to the manager and she was very informative. She was extremely helpful. Even though we immediately knew that it was out of our price range, she spent time with us to help us find something. She offered us three more places to go look at. She was excellent. That manager was great. We looked at some of the amenities and what-not. While we were waiting for her, we kind of wandered around, and we got a cup of coffee. Everything was really clean and really nice. It was overall very good."

"We visited Canterbury Inn. It's very nice, but the prices are astronomical. They catered to the rich. They have a special memory care unit. The people were very nice. I appreciated that. They all have activities throughout the day for their patients which is wonderful. I liked that they had arts and crafts stuff going on, little workouts going on that the people could take part in, which my mom and I did. I took my mom there and we took part in one of their little workouts, which is very doable. My mom was able to do it and it was good. But at seventy-six hundred a month, it's just too much. The dining room was absolutely lovely, but we did not partake in any meals."

"My mother was at Somerset Retirement Home and Assisted Living. It was a great facility. They took really good care of her, and they weren't expensive either. The staff was very caring. When she pushed her button, they were there in a heartbeat to see what she needed. They had nice and clean rooms, and the atmosphere seemed to be good. They had people come in to sing and play music. They played bingo and they played some kind of baseball game. My mom loved their salad bar. That's about all she ate. But the food wasn't bad. I tasted some sandwiches that she couldn't eat, and it was good. Their dining area was nice and the staff was running all over the place, taking care of all the other people. They had a beauty salon. They did have an area where you could walk around the whole building and they had a Koi pond with a waterfall and rocks. It was nice looking."

"Avamere at St. Helens was beautiful, bright, and cheerful. The staff was phoenomenal. They were very caring, concerned, and eager to answer any and all quetions. I was pleasantly surprised with the room. I was concerned that it would be more like a hospital setting, but it looked like a regular bedroom. It was clean with a great size, irt was painted brightly, and it was very personal per patient. I had already eaten there. I had another family member that was already in one other section of it, and the food was wonderful. The dining room was gorgeous. It had tables, chairs, and windows, the lighting was great, and the color was phoenomenal. Again, the staff was so good with their patients. They had a lot of crafting ideas. They also had exercise activities, even for those who were unable to stand. They continued to work with the patients on their skills with taking care of themselves, dressing and bathing themselves, and being as independent as possible. "
