"My sister and I toured Fieldstone Cooper Point, and it was very nice. Ideally, if we were able to go there, that's where we would want my father to go. It was very clean. There were lots of different activities for the residents to do. The staff was very friendly and very nice. For folks wanting to live in assisted living, it seemed to provide them with a good balance of independence and assistance as needed. The person at the front desk assisted us. She was in the reception area. She was very nice and very friendly. We didn't have an appointment for the tour, but she let us go ahead and walk around in the main areas and get a good sense of it. The facilities were very clean and very well appointed, and the layout was very nice."

"Brookdale Olympia East was the nicest facility. Everything was updated, and it was clean. The people were very friendly. Jordan, the gentleman that gave us the tour and took us through everything was really good. He was very friendly and he wasn't trying to force anything. He was just a nice guy and we enjoyed our time with him. Theirs was probably the best rate of the other 3 properties that we saw. They invited us there for lunch, and the food was good. The choices were good. Their restaurant was open from 7 AM to 7 PM. Everything was on the menu during the whole day. The only problem I had was that there was only one elevator for all the floors, and the elevator was a little small."

"Chehalis West Assisted Living Center seemed older, but the staff seemed very attentive to their residents. Residents were hanging around the nurse station where they could keep an eye on them. They weren't just tucked away in their rooms. We saw the dining area, and it seemed cozy, and not too sterile. The apartments were nice and they had everything that a resident would need."

"I like the spaciousness of the great room area at Oakwood Haven. What I really like the most is there are two people on staff during the day every day and that really meant a lot to me. The dining area is very nice and it looked like they had a very nice, healthy, hand-made meal. The interaction between patients and staff seemed very good. Another thing I really liked about it that was different from any other homes I visited was their restroom facilities' shower didn't have any kind of ridge or edge that the patients would have to get out of their wheelchair and step over to get into the shower. They'd have assistance regardless but in this case they could actually wheel the wheelchair right into the shower which was very nice. The staff was very helpful."

"At the moment, my mother is still in Sharon Care Center. She has now been moved into a room with a second person. The problem that we're having is she's not using the toilet at all. She has to be lifted in and out of bed with the Hoyer and put into her electric wheelchair. Then she can get on about her day, but she's not changing herself or anything. It is a place that we had looked at before, and it's close to my brother who is in Centralia. We had originally got a room for her there. She was going to be living in assisted living upstairs, but she ended up with a kidney infection and had to go to the hospital. She was in there for a while. When she got out, she wasn't able to stand or anything. She just wasn't doing anything. She's been in therapy for the last hundred days, but she hasn't gotten to the point where she can live on her own. She can't afford to stay there when her insurance runs out. She makes about $8,000 a month, but it's about $300 and something dollars a day, which puts her at like over $9,000 a month. We have to find somewhere for her that we can afford. It's a great place. The people there are wonderful. It's just my mom hasn't met their requirements to stay. She has to be physically able to stand, pivot, and transfer herself. She's not doing any of that. She was in therapy at the nursing home. They have assisted living upstairs, but now she's at the point where she can't even be in assisted living because she's wearing a diaper. She is not trying to transfer to the toilet or anything. She is just content with having somebody take care of her, so it's frustrating. They've been really patient with her. She is thrilled with the food. She loves it. They have games, bingo, and crafts. She goes down to their activity room. She plays card games and different games with other people down there. There are lots of things for her to do. She is rarely in her room. They have a pop machine outside that she goes to and gets her own pop. They have therapy there. They are pretty set up. There was one thing that we were upset about. On Halloween, they had probably over 200 kids come through that nursing home trick or treating. They brought school buses full of kids. I understand why they did it. They did it so the people to see all these little kids, but a nursing home is not the best place to take them. Kids are full of bacteria. I think that was a really bad idea of them parading over 200 kids through the nursing home right after COVID just happened. That was the only negative thing I had to say about them. I'm not worried about getting sick, but those people are really frail. I just don't think that was the best idea to have little kids go parading through there, although my mom loved it. She had a great time."

"I had an in-person tour of Clark's Country Haven Adult Family Home. I like the country setting and the layout of the house. The staff was very courteous and informative. They offer food and assistance. They have a large patio. It's just a small house. I saw one resident, and he was just lying in bed and was very quiet. They have a table and a living room with a large TV that everyone can sit on. They have shared rooms, and I thought they were fairly small. It was roomy enough for a person in a wheelchair to get around. The living room was large. The dining room was kind of a combined open area. The bathrooms were large. They have lots of parking space. It looked very well landscaped."

"My mom was at Lidia's Adult Family Home. She was very sick there and they helped her. They are just wonderful. I couldn't have asked for more. My mom ended up living four more years and was treated like a family member. They had just a small community of patients. I don't know the limit, maybe six or so. They have a beautiful yard. This place didn't smell like anything. It didn't smell like cleaning fluid or urine. It was just a clean, functioning home. They were so kind to my mom and so diligent in taking care of her. They were just on it. She probably had a bladder infection for a long time. She ended up living there and died in her sleep peacefully and I just couldn't have asked for better people and a better place. The day that I toured the place, I noticed they were making some old fashioned soup, homemade from scratch. I noticed on the counter they were lying about packages. I noticed a particularly big package of organic asparagus. It said right on the front, organic asparagus, so I know they cooked. Every day they make sure that their patients get a glass of juice and anything they drink. Even when I would bring my mom espressos, they put this special thickener in it to make it more viscous so they can't choke. My mom never liked TV, so she never just sat in front of a TV. She sat in front of the window. They got a hummingbird feeder because she adored hummingbirds and they kept it full. I talked to her on the phone. You can imagine the rigmarole that a staff member goes through to open the little flip phone when they hear it ringing and get it up to her ear, and then sort out the consequences of her pushing the buttons because she doesn't know or whatever. They just stood by that process. I called her twice a day for years, and they kept the phone charged. That was her connection to the world and they just made sure it happened. They have a really comfortable living room with lounging things, and they will live in front of a TV if they want. There's a big screen TV. There was a big screen TV and Mom's room too, but she never liked television. Then they have sliding doors that go out to a deck in the back, a little covered porch, and patio. They have a beautiful little garden in the back with fruit trees and flowers and little push waves that you can go to back there. They were just a typical price and worth every penny, because they just looked after her. It was worth every cent. They watched her constantly. They have the facilities, their bathrooms are set up so that she had to live in a wheelchair for a long time, but she never got bedsores. She never got a rash. She never got anything because those people were just on it. She had a special bed that vibrated and had one of those little eggshell things, and they kept her clean. She was always spotless and she never got bedsores."

"I would prefer Easthaven Villa Assisted Living and Memory Care for my mother. She would have a door from the inside to her room, and then she would have a door to go out outside to the deck, too. They had a sitting area right in front of the window. The building was big but older. It was a little worn than the other place, and the bathroom was not nice. However, the dining area was quite nice, and the food smelled good. Easthaven Villa has two or three different courtyards. The concern that I have with them is that, if my mother goes out for a walk, I don't know if she could find her way back because it is fairly big. She also had a brain injury, so her memory wasn't quite so hot. The rooms were studios, but they were bigger than the ones at the other place. I think that we had a very good interaction with the director. It's a one-level facility, which I like. The staff who gave the tour was very nice and very thorough. She always got back to me."

"I was at Brooks Blessings for a couple of months. They were very personable. They would take me to church and grocery shopping. They take you on outings or anywhere you'd like to go. The caregivers were kind, giving, and just good people. They never yell or anything. They allow visitors and don't turn people away when they want to come see you. If someone is not feeling well, they will immediately attend to them, encourage them, and make them feel better. There's ample space and large yards if you want to go outside and enjoy yourself. Everyone's cheerful, happy, and smiley over there. They're as sweet as can be! "

"We toured Artesian Place Assisted Living, which is right by the hospital. It's very clean, very nice, they had a lot of things to do, and the people were very friendly. I felt like I'd be comfortable in that kind of environment. The place was just pretty. The thing I liked was they have an alternate menu, so say if they made roast chicken and you didn't want that, there's a list of things you can choose from as an alternative. If I'm hungry at 2:00 in the morning and I really need food, I can get some food and order off of the alternative menu, and they'll bring me a peanut butter and jelly sandwich if I want. My daughter and I were pretty happy with it. The staff members were all very friendly, very nice, helpful, respectful, and caring. It's a newer building, so it was nice. I got excited because they have bingo nights and music nights, arts and crafts, they have occasional day trips, and a pool table. They have a room that's laid out where you can go play puzzles and play games and stuff like that, which is nice. They have several rooms that are for different activities, and they publish a calendar once a month of what the schedule is for different activities."

"I had been to Panorama and I liked their care. Both my dad and my stepmom were there and they got excellent care. They were always clean. The lunchroom was great. It was clean and had a great cooking staff. I was surprised at the variety of the menu. The physical therapy and occupational therapy were wonderful. My stepmom participated in their exercise classes."

"I went to the Villager Inn Retirement Center. I went through the rooms, and there weren't a lot of people there sitting out. I wanted Mom closer to me instead of driving to Castle Rock. The cleanliness was very nice, I saw the menu, but did not taste the food. The staff was very nice, answered all my questions, and I went to school with her uncle."
