"We toured Cogir of Manteca Senior Living. Everyone was very nice. The food was very good. The chef is very nice. It's not plain food. It's five-star food. The facilities are immaculate. I couldn't find anything wrong with it. The rooms are good size. The price is good. Their agenda for the seniors is good to keep them busy, which is what I like. They try to get the seniors out once a week, they said, on a little bus trip, so can't beat that. It was a very nice dinner. We had a lot of different choices, not just a menu of what they had. They also had food available if you didn't care for some of the stuff on the dinner menu. You could have other things, so I chose that, and my sister did the same thing. The staff was informative and took their time. They didn't rush us through. I didn't feel they had a tour of 20 minutes or 30 minutes. We just walked around, they asked questions, and I asked questions. They showed me the rooms that they have and their situations."

"The apartments are very roomy. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I lost my partner in Dec. the friends we had made here since July24 were all very considerate, helpful and understanding. "We are still in the process of looking for a senior living place, and Westmont of Brentwood is a very high contender. I feel like it's very good based on our observation. It seemed like there was a lot of engagement amongst the clients there. When we were touring there was an exercise group or a music group or something. It seemed like the staff was very friendly, which is important to us too. The staff member who gave the tour was very helpful. She gave us a very thorough tour. We could tell that she values making the services accessible to us. Even though there are a lot of loopholes and stuff that we still have to jump through, she was able to initiate that process. She was very empathetic and helpful in that way. The place is clean and easy to get around, and there's always somebody there to help you out."

"Dale Commons is a nice facility, but they don't accept MasterCare. My mom couldn't pay rent there because it's like $7,000 a month. With MasterCare they accept her Social Security 90% and then pick up the rest. It's very, very nice. I would love to be able to use their facility, but they can't afford it. It's a five because of the way they take care of their people. They follow them around from room to room to make sure that they don't get lost or they don't fall. I like the way they set their people down in the restaurant and then they wait on them like they're in a restaurant and they take their order. Everyone that I met there was very nice. The common areas were beautiful and the rooms were really nice."

"I am a resident of an independent living community called Quail Lodge Retirement Community. I like the camaraderie of all the people here. Both the residents and the staff would greet new people and seem very upbeat. The food is also excellent. We have a lot of activities, but I walk with a walker, so there aren't a lot of things that I can join in. Before I moved here, I had been told of this community before but had never looked into it. When I finally went to see it, I noticed how the atmosphere was welcoming and open when I walked through the doors. It felt very comfortable."

"Truewood By Merrill, Modesto was nice. It's independent living, and it was small, but I guess the smaller the better. I went through one of the rooms, and they had one empty studio apartment that they were finishing up, and it was nice. I think my mother would like that. It didn't have anything in there, but you could bring your own stuff. There was a small refrigerator, a microwave, and that's about it. There was no stove. The person who took me around was very nice."

"My mom has moved into The Commons at Elk Grove. It's great. They're very helpful. The staff is very friendly. They've gone above and beyond for anything they needed to do. My mom loves the food there. Her room is the perfect size and it's everything she needs. The building is beautiful. It's perfect. With regard to activities, my mom does stuff every day. I don't know everything she does, but every day she has been doing activities. They have bingo, exercise classes, and memory care classes. They got a little bit of everything."

"I like Carlton Senior Living Elk Grove. The person there was good. They have a lot of activities. They were well planned. They had a lot of information to give, so we had a really good picture of everything that happened there. Compared to the other place, it is smaller, but it is still big. It feels like they have a lot of hands-on staff in there. I saw the people that lived there, and it seemed that people were paying attention to them. It looked good. Their apartment had a refrigerator and a toaster. They had a little kitchen area inside because they said they wanted to provide that sense of independence. They can make their own coffee if they want or stuff like that. The staff who toured me was very good."

"We toured Rio Las Palmas. I liked it. It was well organized. The rooms were nice. They had great entertainment, a nice restaurant, and a beauty salon. It's everything that I want. The little one-bedroom apartment that I looked at was as cute as it could be. I had some snacks there. They had a little Cinco de Mayo event the first time I was there, which was nice. They had appetizers and different flavored drinks in the restaurant I picked when they were getting ready to serve dinner, and the menu was posted outside the door. It's just a wonderful menu and very healthy food, which was nice. I was more impressed with them than I was anyplace else. The staff who assisted us were good. They did a good job. They're good about calling back and answering questions also. The facility was immaculate. The only thing I can say negatively about it is the common area bathroom door was stuck. You couldn't shut it all the way, so I had a friend with me, and they stood outside the door and guarded it."

"I really liked Plymouth Square, but I couldn’t afford it. The people seemed friendly. It had more of a feeling of a retirement home, and I liked that part. The facility itself was well kept, attractive, and welcoming, but I just couldn’t afford it. It was lunchtime when I had my tour, so I didn’t see anything going on, but I know they do have activities. The facility seemed accessible and well lit. I just looked at studio apartments that were attractive enough. I would recommend them. It was just a warm, homey feeling, and people were very friendly. The facility itself was very attractive and very clean. I spoke to the assisted living director. She seemed very knowledgeable and seemed to have a good staff. "

"My mother moved into O'Connor Woods. It is a very nice and homey facility on beautiful grounds. What I liked least was we didn't get an orientation, which would have been helpful. We chose it because the staff was friendly, it has a great reputation, and it is close to the center of town. The place is clean. Mom has a studio room with windows and a little view. It is nice and clean, and we like that there are lights coming in. The food is really good, and the dining area is homey and clean. They do exercises and they have guest speakers. Next door is a chapel and they have church services. They have bingo, and they have clubs and games. There's an indoor swimming pool and there's a clubhouse. There are lots of Koi ponds and quaint places to walk around amongst the giant oak trees on the grounds. It is really beautiful. All the staff have been very pleasant and helpful."

"My sister is living in a 55+ community called Woodbridge. They have individual houses, and most of them have two-bedroom and two-baths. They have bingo, cards, swimming, and a gym. It’s not a gated community, but I haven’t heard of any problems, and what impressed me the most is the open floor plan of the home. "

"Escalon Heritage Homes was in a small town, which was out of the country. It was more open and they had duplexes, which were connected instead of three or four apartments together. They had one bedroom apartments as well as studios. I would have my own private front yard and it was close to the Senior Citizen's office, which was across the street. There was also a park nearby where I could take my grandchildren to play. They had great staff. There was an area to play bingo, a reading room and you could have your own pet. There was also a yard keeper to clean the yard. The residents cooked their own food. I liked the place a lot. "
