"I'm at here. It is close to my family, it looks nice, and the price includes utilities and DirecTV. It is a little bit pricey, but it is cheaper than regular apartments around here. The move-in experience is fine. The staff members are very nice. They have activities, but I work during the day and the activities are all during the day. They have an exercise room that has some equipment ithat I can be using, but I'm not. I tried the food, and it was high-cholesterol and high-fat stuff for breakfast, so that was the last meal I've had there. I cook for myself. The building is OK. It's a two-story building with a common patio and a garage on the first floor as well. It's nice-looking and clean. They have free laundry. They have a patio where you're invited to plant plants if you want. With regards to the food, I asked if they had an egg white omelet and they said, 'No we just had eggs and cheese,' so we have cholesterol issues. The food doesn't look like it's what you need. I don't eat there and it's also expensive. The layout is fine. The elevators are sometimes slow, but they seem to be better recently."

"It was very clean. It was a hotel before, so they were still remodeling it, and it looked like they were doing a great job. They gave me a fairly quick tour and explained kind of their philosophy, which I liked because they said that they don't restrict their residents from any habits that they had before, which I think was very nice. One weird thing was that they were giving them popcorn for snacks, which I thought was funny because old people can't eat popcorn. But the staff was very pleasant and accommodating."

"I went to Cypress at Junipers Senior Apartments. I thought it was awesome. It's new, it's clean, and the surrounding areas are nice. The people that were there that we talked to were nice. It was great. They're brand new. The apartment is pristine and clean. It was a good size. It was very nice. A friend of mine is moving there from Hawaii, so I'm considering getting a place there."

The staff and residents are so nice and helpful and she already has made friends and is busy with the activities. "Belmont Village La Jolla was a beautiful facility and the food was great. All of the amenities were great. It was just that the square footage was way too small for what we would be paying. There was some ability to do art or something like that. They also had physical fitness activities. The facility was new, well thought out, and planned. The staff who gave us the tour was very helpful and very knowledgeable about their facility. All in all, a top level of service. They would provide meals 3 times a day. We had lunch there and the food tasted great, with lots of variety."

"We have found a place, and we are moving there in two weeks. Most of the places in California do not have a kitchen, and Fredericka Manor has kitchens. If they didn't have a kitchen, I would discard them. It is an entire cottage, and the rooms are large and light. I am still working -- I am an artist -- and it had room for a studio for me. We stayed there, and they were very gracious. They gave us a guest suite, and we lived in the community for four days. It was very nice. That included all the meals and everything we wanted. They managed to sit us with different people for every meal, and the people in this community were really gracious. The food was good; it wasn't exciting, but it was good. But there are so many restaurants down there that it doesn't matter. It is not only assisted living, but they have a lot of independent living. And one of the reasons we chose it is that they have very vital, active people still running around in there, and it is beautiful. "

"I chose Chateau La Jolla Inn, it's a block from the beach, and everything about it was okay. The staff is good, the rooms were all nice, and had been redone. They had quite a few activities, they had courtyards, a library, a gym, but the swimming pool was not big, and looked like a therapy pool. They had meals, the community is beautiful, and it's close to the downtown area."
