VERY SAD DAD

When you walk in the front door it looks nice and clean. Go to the 3rd floor and its dirty, no chairs to sit when you visit your family, residents are left alone in the lunchroom that has no tv, no music, nothing for them to look at except dirty walls and dirty tables. Food is left over from breakfast in the halls when it is lunch time. I have seen no activities. I brought things for my dad and the other residents to do. Don't leave anything of value there. A private family book was left in the lunchroom under magazines. Not all but many of the employees just sit around and talk on their phones or complaining about not being able to be on their phones to us. For over 8000 a month they offer absolutely nothing. It is sad that this is the way our elderly are being treated. They need to stop and think "What if this was my dad/mom?" I guarantee they would not ALLOW this to happen to them so why do it to others? Manor care changed their name to promedica. Do not let the new name fool you.

My 92 year old mom passed away at this facility 9 months ago On january 18th 2021. She had lost a good portion of her eyesight within 10 months prior to entering this facility. She then had something similar to a stroke. Unable to move for the most part and declined each day. Due to covid I was not able to see her. Trying to reach someone on her floor to either talk to my mom or a staff member was a struggle. The ONLY nurse i was able to reach and had compassion was louis. The floor manager a short young girl had NO COMPASSION at all. When they told us they were putting mom in hospice they told us we could make an appointment for 2 days later to see her. All the floor manager cared about was if mom was still their after 5 more days we would have to pay. We gave her our decision to leave mom at the facility vs risking mom passing away in an ambulance if we brought her home. After we told her our decision all she did was walk away from us. Maybe she will be in the same situation some day. And I hope some day I will see her so I can tell her how I feel to her face. She is a disgrace to that facility.

ManorCare Health Services- Palos Heights East didn't seem very friendly when I went there. My brother-in-law is in their nursing home and right now, we're trying to get him out. He's bored, they don't do anything with the residents. The staff was not very friendly either. I don't think they have activities, if they do, my brother-in-law wouldn't have called me 23 times yesterday. He's bored out of his mind over there. We can't go in there because of Covid. About a week and a half ago, they had another confirmed case. On the outside, it looks decent and nice. Right now, he's paying $300 a day and it's terrible. They lost some of his clothes and he doesn't have half the clothes I brought in for him.

My Mom was here after a fall and broke her hip. She is a non verbal, post stroke patient. Her lack of care was so bad, the family feels they wouldn't even send their dog there. It took an extremely long time to get any help after she (or we) pushed the call button. (We would go to the nurses station personally to help us, but they were busy eating lunch, or some other reason, like chatting with themselves, non work, going on). They had a disregard for our mothers needs and well being. They got angry at one of our family members for asking for help, they threatened to kick him out. Food was terrible, we noticed most residents ordered out. Her bathroom hand rail was broken. We spent days and nights with her because we didn't trust the care of her with these people. We got her out as soon as we could and hired private caregiver at home. Mom was much HAPPIER! The only good I can say, is that the Therapy she received was fantastic.

August 2, 2019 My mom Marie has been in Arcadia Memory Care at Manor Care East in Palos Heights, IL for almost 6 years. I am writing to praise the care given her by all the staff during this time. Not only was physical care given her but also emotional care. She was dearly loved and cared for by all the staff: nurses, especially the wonderful CNA's and everyone else who had a hand in her care. Over and over for the past 6 years I have been amazed at the way the staff treated all the residents. Many times they went beyond the "call of duty" to help me personally when mom was upset that I was leaving and it really meant a lot when you have to leave and mom is hysterical. A soft word, a hug, were given to mom to help her but I think they mostly helped me! I am also writing today because at almost 104 years old my Mom, Marie passed away this morning. My heart is broken but I know the last 6 years were a gift that Manor Care helped give me. Blessing and love to all the Staff Marie's daughter, Ella

My mother was here 3 years ago for rehab of hip replacement. Recently she had other health issues that admitted her to the Arcadia Unit, which is the memory care. She was in the hospital for few days before being transferred to Arcadia unit. They asked me where we wanted her to go and without hesitation I said Palos East. The staff on the Arcadia Unit are my mothers angels. They show so much genuine compassion for the residents. I am here most of the day, I live out of state and feel completely comfortable in the care my mother receives. They safety of the residents is their upmost concern. There is always a staff member in place with the residents. The residents have active stimulation during the day and evening. The food is delivered warm and appetizing. They closely monitor the food intake of each resident. If looking for a memory care unit or rehab for your loved one, this is the place.
