With about 6,300 baby boomers turning 65 each year and one of the lowest costs of living in the nation, Boise is proving to be a fantastic spot for seniors to retire. Idaho’s state capital might not be the first place people think of for retirement, but with robust senior programs in both Boise and nearby Meridian, finding a sense of community is easy in the Treasure Valley. Fifty walking trails, several outstanding fishing spots and an emerging food scene ensure that seniors who enjoy an active and adventurous lifestyle will feel right at home in Boise. Many adults have already discovered this for themselves, as more than 31,000 seniors call the City of Trees their home.
To help seniors discover the most senior-friendly locations around the country, Caring.com conducted a new study, “The Best and Worst Places for Senior Living.” The Caring Senior Living Report analyzes and ranks 300 cities and 50 states on the quality of senior living in that area. The cities were graded using 46 metrics across five categories: Health Care, Senior Living & Housing, Affordability, Quality of life, and Transportation.
