My beloved sister was here for two and a half years! She was treated with love and respect! The staff became our family and I cannot express how GRATEFUL we are for this wonderful place! We became their family too! They make sure holidays are a fun celebration for the residents and work so hard to give the the BEST quality of life they can. They helped us with her last hours there and we were able to be with her so she wasn’t alone in her final journey. The staff will ALWAYS hold a special place in our hearts! We are eternally grateful to them!!!

First and foremost, I want to give Thanks to family and friends for being present at this spiritual blessing for Mom prior to her being lay to rest at the Good Shepherd Cemetary with Dad. At this moment I feel like my heart has been ripped out of my chest cavity but I know that I am being led by the Holy Spirit. My journey with Mom was loving, compassionate, spiritual, and humbling. I must admit being a care taker was not an easy task. There were times I felt overwhelmed and shed tears. However, Ive asked God for forgiveness for my flaws during my journey with Mom. It was very painful to see Moms health deteriorate as time went by. Mom felt her death coming. She shared that with me at the beginning of March 2019. Of course, I completely ignored her and continued my journey. During my journey I was able to find comfort and strength in listening to the word during the daily tv morning mass. My journey with Mom continued at Ocala Health and Rehab and magnified itself ten fold in a spiritual way. I realized then that God was not finished with me and was present all along the way. He works in mysterious way. While Mom slept I positioned myself and sat in her wheel chair. I rolled myself out of her room and joined a few residents in the vicinity of the Nurses station and provide them with comfort and laughter to those who couldn't walk. An unfamiliar terriority that God allowed me to enter and today I am greatly honored. On July 1 Mom passed at 12:45 pm. Thank you lord for the profound spiritual experience that I had with not only with Mom but with the other residents at Ocala Health and Rehab. I promise BJ (moms roommate) that I will continue visiting her. And that I have officially adopted her. BJ pierced my heart deeply when she said I understand if you never come back to visit me when your mom dies. She brought tears to my eyes. Also, I promised Shirley another resident that I would go back and teach her how to play Dominoes. I must admit that Mom loved playing Dominoes and was great at it. As my journey with Mom comes to an end its not over. God just added another chapter to my life and it's just about to begin. I now have a spiritual calling In Moms honor. I promised myself to give back to the residents at Ocala Health and Rehab. Also, a Special Thanks to the entire staff and for being part of Moms journey. I have the upmost respect for them. They have a deep passion for their residents. Thank you Lord for giving me inner peace and taking away my fears. Mom rest in Peace. Love always your daughter Nancy. Thank you Ocala Health and Rehabilitation for assisting our family through this difficult transition. RIP Mom🙏

My uncle was cared for at Ocala Health & Rehab for many months and only very recently passed away after a very grueling protracted illness. He was a Vietnam-era veteran with multiple complicated medical and psychiatric issues stemming from that service and so had been a very difficult candidate for long-term care placement. Ocala Health & Rehab took on the many challenges his care required with true compassion. They never ever gave up on trying to make his quality of life better and more comfortable, even when he no longer would or could speak for himself. There may be facilities out there with newer and shinier brick-and-mortar settings, but no way could they have staff with any more heart or true caring. It was always kept very clean and organized and never with that “old age home” smell many such facilities have. Our family will forever be grateful that my uncle lived his last days cared for by nursing staff Teresa, Megan, Rob, and Jennifer. They never failed to communicate what was happening to family who lived elsewhere on a daily basis during the last weeks. Our appreciation also goes out to Jami and Briana in Social Services, Patricia and Karen in Admissions, and Tyler in Administration. While no one probably ever wants to end up in a long-term care facility, if I or a loved one was in need of one, Ocala Health & Rehab would be my choice. These folks REALLY care about their patients.

This place is TERRIBLE!!! The "memory care" unit should not be called that at all. It is more like a holding pen. Residents sit at a table ALL day long with no interaction for activities. It seems like most of the staff is there for a paycheck only, not because they like their jobs. The unit is very dated and not conducive to a atmosphere for people with dementia. Would NEVER recommend this facility for memory care.

After breaking my knee in Dec, I stayed at Ocala Health and Rehab for almost a month. Their physical therapy dept is phenomenal- just extremely kind, caring people. Unfortunately the nursing and CNA staff were a mixed bag. There were some that were just plain mean, making fun of the patients that they were suppose to be taking care of and acting really put out if they had to answer your call bell. Then there were the ones that made everything more tolerable. A wonderful CNA, Liberty, who took care of me like I was her own mother. When I was in a lot of pain, she would hold me and let me know how much she cared. There were several others that did a wonderful job taking care of me and were very kind at the same time. I believe there is a special place in heaven for these people. The nursing staff was the same. There were some that were very caring and others that would ignore my calls and make me wait for hours (yes, hours).

My Mom was a resident when she fell in May 2017 till July 2017. She went to a Assisted Living Home and fell again in December 2017 and went to the hospital and then Ocala Health & Rehabilitation afterwards. My mother also has dementia. She is now in a semi-private room which is very nice with a dresser and night stand and a tray on wheels to use over their bed for each resident along with flat screen tv's, the room could be a little bigger as both her and her roommate have wheelchairs. The bathrooms in the room are nice. My Mom has great CNA's on day and evening shifts with wonderful nurses. The staff always has time to say hello and if someone is down in the dumps they find time to stop and ask what is the matter and off words to try and cheer them up. The staff at the desks are wonderful and willing to go the extra mile to help you out when you have questions or need answers. They have quite a few activities with Bingo two (2) times a week. They do cooking, sewing, needle art, play cards, dominoes, have karaoke and take them outside on the patio. On holidays they do special activities for the holiday. Would like to see more activities on weekends if possible. The food is great and my mother loves it. We select from a menu what she wants to eat for a week at a time and they have the CNA's from the floors serve the food along with the kitchen staff in the dining room. There is no odor in this place and everything is very clean. The housekeepers do a great job keeping the place clean. The maintenance workers also do a great job if there is an issue. The one thing I would like to have fixed is when my Mother's medicine is changed or added, I would like someone to notify me of this change or addition. The office worker's are also very helpful and friendly. Overall I am very happy with this home and the staff. I do not know much about the late shift but if I have had a problem with them it has been taken care of. I go see my Mother six (6) days a week, so I see a lot of what is happening there. I would recommend this place to anyone. Thank you to all at the Ocala Health and Rehab for your hard and dedicated work. Please keep up treating your residents like they are your family.

Ocala Health & Rehabilitation has basic amenities and a really caring staff. My dad is in a semi-private room which is like a motel room. He is on modified food, like puree and chopped, and doesn't like it, but I've tasted it and it seems OK. They also have snacks on request. I wish they had bigger rooms. The staff is so good and well staffed, so there's always a staff member within a few steps of everybody, and they're very industrious. They have a combination of short-term and long-term people, and I'd probably like to see a little more separation between the two since the corridors are fairly crowded with clients running up and down with their wheelchairs, so it's a little on the noisy side. I don't see any major faults with the facility.

Ocala Health & Rehab Center is very clean. It has more of an upbeat atmosphere than the place where my mother is now. There was no nursing home sort of smell like in some other facilities. The people seemed more interested and lively. The staff seemed more involved. The rooms are neat, and you can bring in some of your own furniture if you wish. Just about all of them have a view of a wooded outdoor kind of area rather than looking at a parking lot.

We have Ocala Health and Rehab for my relative. His primary care physician was the medical director at this facility, so it made the transition easy. Regarding the staff, we are working through some communication issues. What they can improve on is communicating any needs or any changes that are made based on my relative's needs. They have recreational activities or physical activities. They have games. They options like church come in and do activities. Also they have special time for veterans and special things for the holidays.

My mother-in-law has been placed in this nursing home. She’s been there for about 3 months now, and we’re happy with this facility. The staff is very cordial and very friendly. The employees have been there for 20 or 30 years. The place was very clean, but is an older building. It’s relatively close to our home. Their motto over there is “Our family taking care of your family”. And it’s really true to that because they’re also outgoing and friendly; that’s the reason why we chose that place over the others. We also went in unannounced, so they weren’t as prepared to show us around. We just kind of went in impromptu. We wanted to get a better feel of their attitude and the way they are. The first time we went, it was a Saturday. Someone was gracious enough to give us a tour. The second time, it was a change of shift again. No one was available to walk us around. However, the administrator went out of his way and personally gave us a tour. We had company and they wanted to see where she was going, so we went in the third time. And they were always very accommodating. Their doors were always open, they weren’t hiding anything. We got to see how clean it was; there was no odor when we came in. She has a semi-private room. She enjoys it. It’s very clean, and it’s spacious. They have a bathroom in each room, and it came with a dresser and a table across the bed, and there’s a flat screen TV. The furniture is nice. She’s very comfortable; she has no complaints. They have a full calendar that they mount on each patient’s wall. They have several, 4 or 5, activities daily that she can select whether she can participate or not. They have bingo twice a week that she participates in. They have other activities, like simple cooking classes, they play cards in the afternoon, they have a hair salon she takes part in, they have outdoor picnics, arts and crafts, glamour hour on Saturday afternoon so she can have her hair done, physical therapy, and singing with the choir. However, they could probably have more variety in meals. My mother-in-law enjoys the food, but I guess they could have more of a gourmet type of food.

My mother was a patient here in the Alzheimer’s unit, for the better part of 10 years. Prior to her being a patient here, she was in a facility just down the road, where their definition of taking care of her was to have her so highly medicated, that all she did was sit up in a wheel chair and drool on herself. Once she was moved here, her life significantly improved. The care she received was fantastic. Every member of the staff went out of their way to help her enjoy what life she had left. I cannot begin to thank Carlos enough for being such a wonderful caring human being. As a member of the maintenance staff, he really did not have to interact with the patients, but he took it upon himself to go out of his way to touch the lives of each and every patient. Whenever I would come to visit, I would look forward to watching my mother’s eyes light up while she was interacting with him. The nursing staff was also very good to my mother. The care they provided was second to none. For everyone I’ve come in contact with here, it seems like it’s more than just a job to them. Each one truly has a caregiver’s heart. I could not imagine there being a better facility for my mother to have been in.

My dad had a stroke and I had to put him at Ocala Health and Rehab and they have been wonderful. The whole thing has been great and I'm shocked because I've heard stories about nursing homes. The staff have been really warm and helpful. They are there when I needed them. They also keep me in the loop on things and they would also call me. I would totally recommend them.

My mom needed a knee replaced and we choose Ocala Health and Rehab Center. They picked her up at the hospital when she was discharged and took her to their facility. When she got there the private room she was promised was not available but they found a room on the next level. When you are looking for a rehab or nursing homes do your homework. Go look at the nursing home and see what they look like, are people attended to or are they just sitting in a hallway. Is the place clean, do they have things to do, is the rehab center on site. When I have friends in the hospital or nursing homes I have a little trick that I use. It is so easy: I make cookies every 2 days this keeps the nurses coming in to the patents room to check what kind of cookies and how my mom was doing. With any nursing home do your homework your family will have a better stay and it will give you a little peace of mind about their care. We found all this at Ocala Health and Rehab Center.
