My wife is presently at Seaside Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center. It is clean but crowded. Their staff members are good but some are not so good. It is a very busy place. I have never seen a nursing home that is so busy.

As my husband was a patient at Seaside, I can offer an overview of the facility. The rooms had one or two beds. The main administrator Kevin, was actively in charge of 150 patients and oversaw nursing and other staff members, as patients received weekly medical vitals, p/t o/t care, patients received three rounded meals a day with the option of purchasing sodas and snacks.

The rooms are old, beds small and if you have the misfortune of being put in a double room, you may have to listen to neighbor play tv loud until 5 a.m. I was in there over the Fourth of July weekend. There were no trained personnel on staff at night. The help took anywhere from 2 minutes to three hours to respond to help calls. The food ranged from bland to inedible . The physical therapists had some good, caring people. They had some that were extremely loud, pushy and obnoxious. I was bedridden and prescribed a strong laxative daily. With staff often ranging from an attitude of disgust or anger, and one night refused to help for three hours until another employee was willing to help. For my six weeks there I was confined to my bed unless staff was present. I could go on, but this facility is an insurance grab, with residents having their stay continue until their insurance money ran out. This is what I was told by two long time staff members. My stay a nightmare that I ended when an employee told me I could leave anytime. Until then, I had been led to believe I didn’t have my own medical power of attorney. I left within 12 hours of being told the truth. No one should stay in this facility for any reason.
