"I went to Ormond in the Pines. I thought that everybody adored the faculty and the faculty loved the people that live there. There’s a lobby, and the dining hall was right in the right hand side. It’s very, very nice and the chef came out and met us. They invited us to have a meal. The dining hall looked beautiful and they were getting ready for happy hour -- which is OK -- but my personal view is that elderly people shouldn’t be drinking. I could see that they really take pride in their dining hall because it’s newer. They have a presentation of the meal ahead of time out in the hallway to show you what you’ll be eating that day which is nice. The lower floor is the independent-living and the apartment was very nice. It was quite large and the bedroom was a good size. The bathroom was pretty good. The one thing I didn’t care for is the kitchenette. The kitchenette was so outdated. The stoves were like from back in the 1970s. Most of the residents don’t even use them. I don’t like their activity room for physical therapy. It’s very small and nobody was in it. They have creamy white carpeting in the apartment itself; I didn’t care for that. They just painted and the colors downstairs are very, very depressing colors like tans, dull greens, and dull oranges like old-fashioned 70s colors instead of pretty uplifting colors. The visitation was very nice. I met with people, and they seemed very happy there. They were meeting for dinner afterwards and that was very nice. They’re all friends and I like that because the warmth and the friendliness is number one. "

"My husband was here for a month. They were just excellent. They took good care of him, he was very clean, and they did his therapy and everything. They were very loving and kind and quick to assist you in any way that you need. The meals were good and he had no complaints. "

"Grand Villa of Deland was absolutely a beautiful facility. I only toured it. It would be a great place to house somebody, but I was hoping that my husband’s situation was temporary. "

"Woodland Towers was a very nice place, and it would have been very adequate for my mother. The 1-bedroom apartment was adequate. It had a living room, a kitchenette, a bathroom, and a bedroom. The staff was very helpful and answered all our questions. We had lunch there, and it was good."

"Sterling Court is lovely. It's very nice and very pleasant. I chose this place because of the location. It is closer to some of the things I want to go to, as well as nearby neighborhoods. There are a number of activities to do too. They have bingo, movies, beanbag toss, they go on excursions, do jigsaw puzzles, and play card games. They also have a library and a pool. The staff members are all topnotch. The food is very delicious. They're served so well, courteously, and promptly."

I had the pleasure of speaking Rob at Cambridge Management today. He is the owner of the management company that ensures the superlative administration at Villa Grande. Rob went WAY above and beyond the call of duty today to assist us in an ongoing matter that involves a business that has been harassing mother prior to her move to Villa Grande. I have had many dealings with various management companies and this is by far the best experience I have ever had. Believe me, the management company matters and this one is superb. Not only is management excellent, but Villa Grande has beautiful, secure grounds with a large security fence and gate that opens with a transponder given only to residents. A beautiful dining room, good food and a very responsive plant manager that deals with issues whether they occur during the day or evening hours. Quite simply, Villa Grande is one of the best 55 + independent living communities in Volusia County."

We really enjoy our home here, very roomy with good storage and screened porches. A nature preserve surrounds the community and there is lots of wildlife to observe. One of our favorite activities is weekly happy hour with music. This was the right move for us. "

"Briarwood was very nice. They only have one place available. Everything else was all filled. It had everything I wanted: a galley kitchen and a good price. The staff was excellent. They were very caring people. They really wanted me to take the house and have me in that society. They have a nice big gym, classes that you can go to, a swimming pool, and almost anything you could think of."

"My wife moved into Majestic Gardens Living. It's a fairly small place. It's almost a brand-new building, and it's very nice and very clean. Her room is very nice and very big. The staff has been very good. They provide 3 meals a day. They're not gourmet, but they're OK. They have activities all the time, like bingo and board games. I would recommend it to anybody. It's owned by a lady doctor, and she comes in every day. She has a pretty good crew there."

"Crane Lakes is very immaculate and very well-maintained, and we just signed the contract today. The one we are getting is 2-bedrooms, 2-bathrooms, and the view is terrific with small lakes and a clubhouse in sight. They have card and craft rooms, pool tables, tennis courts, shuffle board, and swimming pools. It has a restaurant that we can use. What we saw in the dining room was very well-designed; however we have to pay for the meals. We do our own meals at our own unit. The staff was great; it’s clean and beautiful. "
