"My father has lived in the independent living section of AFVW for the past year and a half. And boy do I mean, "LIVED." Dad he should have moved there 10 years ago. However, as a regular visitor, I am also a big fan of my friends who now live in assisted living. Mostly because the people in independent living continue to include them in their activities. Assisted living means just that. Assistance; just as needed. Those in assisted living remain involved in daily life. Separately, was amazed to discover although AFVW has both on-site medical offices for doctor visits....the doctor as well as the x-ray machine, makes house calls! Yes, in the independent living section. Don't feel like going out for medicine? No problem. Medication, just like pizza, is delivered. Last, the people are great and highly involved in the management. This strikes me as the key difference between communities that are run for-profit by professional management teams, and those that are run by non-profits. It strikes me when residents are involved in the executive decision making process, this makes for a better experience. "

"Atria was very good. I liked that it was modern looking and clean. Everything was well organized and it seemed to be well designed to meet the needs of the people. The rooms were very nice. The staff was very hospitable and they were all smiling. When I met them on the hall, they greeted me warmly and they even gave me a gift basket upon leaving. However, they were very pricey. "

"Hello I fell and broke my femur and shoulder on October 6 th. After my surgery and hospital stay I was transferred to Plymouth Village Rehab. My daughter knew what my needs were so she went to several top rated Rehabilitation Centers in our area. She walked thru each facility and met with their therapy department at each location. Plymouth Village ended up being my daughter’s first choice. I have been here 10 days now. When I first arrived I was helpless. I lost my ability to walk and had to keep my broken shoulder in a sling with no movement allowed. The past 10 days have been amazing. I’m now able to gain some of my independence back again. I have occupational and physical theraphy 5-6 days per week. When I finish each session I feel so uplifted. I felt all alone when this unplanned challenge came it me. "The aspect that made Inland Christian Home stand out above other assisted living facilities that I have visited was the quality of the staff that worked with the clients. Like other places I have visited, this facility offers some of the standard activities and services for elderly residents. I saw people engaged in games, coming home from outings, and eating and chatting together. Another thing I liked about this facility is that it offers a number of different levels for residents, ranging from independent living to constant care. It is nice not to have to move to a different facility when one's level of care changes. But as I said before, the quality of the staff is what distinguishes this facility--staff members were patient and seemed to really know the personalities of the residents, down to the names of their grandchildren. The staff also seems to stick around, which makes for a more stable environment. "

"I moved into Merrill Gardens at Rancho Cucamonga. It's a new facility, which I like, so it's fresh. It has a lovely location in the hills above Rancho Cucamonga. The staff has been excellent, they're young, very supportive, and very helpful. I've settled in nicely and I appreciate it. The pandemic has limited most of the activities, but they are doing their best to try and have events that can comply with the rules of COVID. We have an exercise room. They are delivering all the meals, so there's no joint dining times this time. It's a little restrained at this moment, but they're doing their best to keep the occupants involved with what is going on in the facility. There's no joint dining so all the food is delivered, and that's a little tricky. It's not great, but it's good. They have a swimming pool, a garden area, a fitness center, which is not being greatly used at the moment, and they have a movie theater that is not being used at the moment. The gardens are very well kept. It's just a little more difficult to accomplish all the things they want to accomplish with the lockdown and the COVID situation. The staff is excellent. One of the reasons I came here was it was cost effective, and it's priced nicely. The location, the site, and the fact that it was new and modern were the reasons I chose this place."

"I only didn't give Pilgrim's Place a five because I have not been to that many assisted-living facilities and I don't know if it is truly the best of the best. What I can say from what I've heard about assisted-living places, is that it must come pretty close. I am a student in Claremont and I visited Pilgrim's Place in order to talk to some residents about their lives. I have hard many horror stories about assisted living facilities, but this one was nothing like that. It was clean and cheerful. The residents seemed happy and well taken care of. Like most of Claremont, the building itself was very nice and welcoming. The staff was very helpful and friendly as well. Although I have not had relatives stay here, I would recommend it without a doubt and can only hope that I end up in a place like this in my old age, if needed be. I couldn't find anything wrong with this place at all. "
