"We liked Oakmont of San Jose a lot. We were very impressed. It was very homey. The residents and the staff were just friendly. They knew everybody, so we really liked that situation. What we did not like about them is their independent living rooms felt very small because they were all studios. Everyone was very kind and welcoming. Whenever we went into a new room and we passed a staff member, they said, "Good morning" and "Welcome," so we really liked that part of it. The facility was very nice and very clean. It didn't feel sterile at all. We really liked it. It just didn't fit the needs of my mom for right now."

"Belmont Village San Jose was a beautiful place. I would rate it 100% all the way around, but it was very expensive. The staff was wonderful and the food was wonderful. They served salmon. The common spaces were nice. I just could not afford that place."

"All About Seniors is an actual home setting, so it's very homey, comfortable, and has a relaxed feel. The staff also lives there so they take care of the place very well, it's very clean. The food is excellent, and because there's only six residents, the ratio is 3:6, so it's a good level of care. They still have the usual activities. People come in and play music, there are arts and crafts, and so on. It's a lot less expensive than other facilities, but provides much better care."

"I am a resident of The Watermark at Almaden. It's very nice. I'm in a studio, and it's pretty good and big. It's very clean. The staff is very nice. People are caring, and they're decent, friendly, and warm. There are many different kinds of activities, games, bingo, yoga, and quite a number of other things. The dining area is very neat, clean, and it's nice. The food and the service are good."

"My wife has moved into Carlton Senior Living San Jose. What I like best is its proximity to our home, so I can go visit her frequently without too much trouble. I have tried some of the food and it's quite good. There are plenty of activities she can participate in while she's there. It looks to be very well maintained inside and out. Everybody I have encountered there has been very pleasant and professional. They have a fairly large collection of books available to residents. Plus, they have movie nights and some other activities. We only looked at a studio because I was looking for the least costly option, but it is a reasonable space for one person to live in. They have a garden and an outdoor patio."

"We toured the independent living and the memory care at Brookdale San Jose. It was very clean and well-maintained. The staff was very welcoming. The facilities looked just fine. They had a nice outdoor area where people could go. They seemed to have some good activities for them. The rooms looked very comfortable. They had clean bathrooms and windows so that the resident could see outside. The staff was very good and very professional. The dining area was nice and very clean. It felt very comfortable. A lot of the residents were very complimentary about it. They said they enjoy their stay there and they're very happy."

"I've toured Belmont Village Los Gatos' memory care and also looked at all of the levels. The tour was great, I thought it was a really beautiful facility. What I liked about the memory care is that they have a thing called Circle of Friends, where all the memory care unit residents get together and have activities every day, I like that. They were in a group at the time that we were there and they were just having a discussion, so they let us come in and say hi to everybody. And then we went to the actual memory care unit where they had activities individually with each person. The dining area was very nice. The staff who gave the tour was very, very good at her job. They had a patio, a garden with nice seating, and nice views out of their balconies. The place was just so, so clean."

"My wife has moved into Oakmont of Silver Creek. It is very presentable. The landscaping is very well done, and it's relaxing when you walk in. The front lobby is immaculate. The lady at the front desk always acknowledges me, and they greet you, and that's very good. When we first walked in for the first time, they had a big sign that said, 'Welcome,' and that was very impressive. The management is very good. They have lots of meetings with the residents to get their input. They are constantly trying to get information and input from the residents, which I think is a very, very good process that they use. The rooms are the right size. They're not too big, they're not too little. My wife has a studio. We were worried because she had to have a hospital bed in there, but there's plenty of room for the hospital bed. It's very spacious and clean. It is easy to get in and out if you're in a wheelchair. The showers are nice. They have a very small lift to get in. The hallways are very spacious, enough for two wheelchairs to pass. They have four or five elevators, and those are very nice and spacious, too. You could get five or six people there. The dining room is just unbelievable. The meals they cook are so good. They have breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They have menus, and if you want to go off the menu, they have things like hamburgers, sandwiches, and stuff like that. If you don't feel like eating a full meal, that's there as well. If you're sick, they'll send it up to your room. The people who work there are unbelievable. They remember what their preferences are, like whether they drink coffee or tea or whatever. The caretakers are very, very good. They're very caring people. My wife gets her hair done. The caretaker will braid it and put it together, so she goes down for breakfast, and she looks different each day. It's the extra time that they do for them. It's a wonderful thing. They're so loving. Every time I walk into the community, everybody knows my name. It's remarkable. It's very welcoming and very thoughtful. The med techs are very good. They have bingo, poker, and flower arrangements. All the flower arrangements in the dining room have been done by the residents who are taking the flower arrangement class."

"My mom was at Villa Fontana Retirement Community temporarily. She was there transitioning out of the hospital. She needed 24/7 care while she was recovering. After she recovered, we then relocated her to the other facility. If I had the option to keep her there, I would have kept her there because I think across the board, they were five-star. My only dissatisfaction was the cost, which was almost $8,000 a month. They have friendly staff and lots of activities for the residents and their families. They have ice cream socials, they have bingo, and they recognize the different holidays and celebrate them. I thought they were very engaging and very friendly."

"I went to Atria Evergreen Valley. I liked it. I have a friend that stays there, so I'm familiar with it. My friend is in independent living. The place was busy because they were about to serve dinner, but the staff took time to walk me around and answer my questions. They have an excellent concierge. They have a very nice and spacious area outside for them to walk. They have walking paths and different areas where they can sit and read. The inside was well maintained. The walls, the carpet, and everything inside were clean. It all looked nice. It seemed like it would make a resident comfortable. I also liked the prices. They were competitive."

"Westmont Milpitas is extremely clean. It has an indoor pool. The food is good. There's a lot of activities. Mom's apartment is great. She has a full kitchen, a washer and dryer, a walk-in shower, a walk-in closet, a good-sized room, and an eating bar. The staff is really good. I like them. The only problem we're running into is her apartment number isn't listed with the post office, which is weird, but they're working on that. They have a book club, a movie theater, field trips where they go shopping, and bingo, so they have a lot of stuff. Internet and cable are included, too."
