My mother is in LifeHOUSE San Diego Healthcare Center. It seems like it's an acceptable, OK place. It’s a big place with 300 beds. When you first come in, it's very impressive, and they clean the rooms every day. Some days it smells OK and some days it smells like urine, but it really depends on which part of the facility you are in. It's a pretty clean place overall. The staff is knowledgeable, and if you have a complaint or concern, they're pretty receptive, which is good.

I looked for a facility for my sister and I went to San Diego Healthcare Center. They showed us around when we were there. They had a nice patio area where the residents could go and sit outside if they wanted. However, the rooms were very small. The residents were brought to casinos and parks and they also had activities inside. My only problem was that the admission personnel was very difficult to deal with that I almost gave up trying to get my sister in. The only reason I tried was because it was a Kaiser Permanente affiliated facility and they helped me with the person at admission.
